Hi, The first time I had Sushi was when I was only twelve (47 years ago). There was only one sushi restaurant in NYC at the time--I recall that it was named (EDO). I was hooked on my 3rd visit there with my dad who ate there daily. It was a wonderful place to eat. A cultural experience. My fathers office was only 2 blocks away from another great eatery--a Korean restaurant in NYC named OO LE OOK. I spelled it as best I could. I think it was named after a city in Korea. Absolutely, wonderful food. It was in business for decades and unfortunately, burned down in a fire. They had "in table" grilles which may have caused this tragic accident. The thing about OO LE OOK was that they also served very traditional Japanese sushi. The best of both food worlds. While driving around Hartford one night, my daughter and I were hunting for some sushi. I saw Ichiban which had a sign proclaiming both Japanese and Korean foods. Jack pot! I also noticed that there were only 3 cars in the parking lot including mine. Not a great omen. My 10 year old daughter travels with her own chopsticks so she takes her food seriously as well. The menu offered all kinds of both Japanese and Korean dishes including my favorite... Bulgogi. I thought it was priced high and was told the meat came from the Kalbi ribs. They stripped it from the ribs. That was the first time I have ever heard of that dish being made in such a way. I skipped it and ordered what was a very popular and traditional dish at most sushi places "the Sushi Boat for Two." What came to my table was a beat up party favor that sort of resembled a boat. When I looked down into it, I saw a California roll (wowee) and Avocado roll (double wowee) a couple of peices of eel and some unrecognizable fish sushi. Nothing was wrapped properly in seaweed. The amount of food was anemic and it wasnt that good as far as taste. No presentation what so ever. No shaved cucumber or carrot design--nothing. It was if someone threw the food on "Das Boot." When I complained that it wasnt really worth the 36.00, the waitress yelled at me that we should have ordered the 50.00 version! "What you expect?" she said. We ate the food, paid the bill and left. Never to return. We were still starving so we went to the Hibachi Grill on Kane and Prospect. The all you can eat sushi was far better than the Ichiban boat. Let me repeat. ITS ALL YOU CAN EAT! For less than 22.00, we ate to our hearts content. All kinds of rolls including hand rolls, seaweed salad, baby octopus salad, eel sushi, good quality tuna and salmon sushi and so much more. Worth every penny. Is Shogun in Glastonbury still around. Good Korean food there.

This restaurant has simply the best price/quality ratio. When you walk in you are greeted with a warm and cozy atmosphere of a true oriental atmosphere. The host sits you down almost immediately. Food choice large. The food itself is very good Id give it 8-9 out of 10 for a very reasonable price. I have been at better restaurants in terms food but none of them came anywhere close in price. Similarly the restaurants in the similar price range dont come even close in terms of food. It is easy to have a full course meal (soup, salad, appetizer, suchi, beer and desert) for 25-30 dollars per person. If you dont want full course and beer, soup, salad and suchi comes up to around 20 dollars.

Amazing place I highly recommend the Kalbi beef or any of their fresh sushi. The flavors and quality of the food are hands down the best I had in all of West Hartford and Hartford. They offer salad or Miso soup with any dinner entry and bring out around 5 - 6 tiny dishes of delicious little snacks. Atmosphere is cozy and well lit, the tables and bathroom where clean and the service was friendly and courteous. Anyways with out a doubt a hidden gem, if youre a fan of Korean flavors check this place out and try the Pork Belly of Kalbi Beef. this is not to say its their only tasty dishes just the ones Ive tried, the dumplings are also amazing.

Ichiban is my favorite restaurant in the Hartford area. The lunch specials are a great deal, although, unfortunately, most of the sushi items are not on that menu. I particularly like Ichibans various eel dishes: the Unagidon is great and so is the BBQ Eel (although this dish is expensive!). If you go with a group you should make sure that someone in your party orders something Korean - otherwise you wont get the Korean side dishes.

Ive been coming here for Korean food since I moved to Hartford. They treat the regular customer well. I always get service from the sushi bar. Only place where Korean food taste like it was cooked and served at a Korean home. You may think I am biased but if the place is not good you dont come back for 7 years. Sushi is fresh, try the sashimi bibimbap. For Korean dish try the Bulgogi, Kalbi and cod fish Jjigae.

The food is decent. There is better Korean food to be had in West Hartford but this is close to my house so we have gone quite a few times. The biggest problem I have with this place is the service. All the serving staff are fine except for this one female waitress. She is loud and rude and has literally thrown the food on our table.

They have fantastic lunch specials. Great variety of Korean food and banchans as well. Service is usually good and staff is polite. My favorite in the summer time is Sashimi Bibimbop. In the winter time I tend to go with Galbitang or any type of Jjigae. Every Korean meal comes with rice and side dishes.

The banchan was excellent. The gyoza was also good. I wasnt a fan of the bulgogi not self grilled but as I dined with my toddler, you cant grill with one meat. The service was fine not legendary; I mustve gone when it wasnt busy and the staff talked amoungst themselves mostly. It was ok overall.

May not be so much about sushi and sashimi, but great Korean barbecue. For that is is one of the best around. I am kind of afraid sushi and sashimi from those restaurant that are not Japanese owned, but these days it is hard to find around.

Very good Korean food. I have not tried the Japanese because all the workers are Korean so I am assuming that is their specialty. The sashimi bibim bop is actually a cross between Japanese and Korean is very tasty.

Only been once and ordered a few sushi rolls and the vegetable noodle stir fry. The rolls were pretty good but Ive definitely had better. The noodle dish was nothing special. Id go to Feng before coming back here.

Just another Chinese restaurant disguised as the more exotic and expensive fare. Food is not bad but a far cry from their authentic counterparts. Found a bug in my kimchi dish. Promptly asked for the check.

Awful, awful, awful. Ive not one positive thing to say of Ichiro. Service is slow and borderline rude. Took two and a half hours to eat one simple meal. Food tasted Terrible. Do Not Go.

Stopped in because I was told to try it and was not disappointed. Food was good and my waitress was fun with personality! Prices seemed very good too, Ill be back again when in this area.
