For the price this place is very good for Hibachi. Cheaper than the other hibachi places in the area. Lunch prices are even cheaper. You can also usually find a 20% off coupon. Service was good. Hibachi chef was entertaining. Typical hibachi features...squirt "Saki" in your mouth, (even fake Saki for the kids),onion volcano/choo choo train, attempts to toss broccoli in your open mouth etc. Kids love it. Food was typical hibachi fare but decently prepared. They have Sapporo (Japanese beer...delicious). Portions were equal or slightly larger than other area hibachi places. You get rice, noodles and grilled veggies with your entrée. Salad and miso soup of course. Parking in the rear. No idea how the sushi or non-hibachi dining is but I would guess it is decent. I am sure there are better but more expensive places for that. Atmosphere is average to good. Did not see masks or drums as in other places but then again I was drinking Saki and beer so I could have been sitting on the drum and wearing the mask. I would recommend this place for families. The kids love it and the chef catered and entertained them well. Keep in mind that Hibachi is mainly entertainment. Fine dining it is not but it is worth a visit for a good show. After eating here we usually head for the Nuvita frozen yogurt place up the road near the Firelight Plaza for desert. Hint...you fill your childs cup with frozen yogurt and add the toppings unless you want to pay a fortune for a 10 pound cup of frozen yogurt. One other thing...my girlfriend had a great idea...it would be cool if they had one of the chefs dress up like a Ninja Turtle...now that would be cool and the kids would flip.

This was our second visit to Hayama. The first time i have ordered Soup, Naruto Lobster Roll and Philadelphia Roll. During the first visit I loved everything thats why i decided to order the same today. Soup was good, Naruto Lobster Roll is now one of my favorite dishes, but they brought Philadelphia Roll with avocado. I pointed them on the menu ( it says - smoked salmon and cream cheese only ), so they redo it. It was not a big deal. When i finished Soup and Naruto Roll, i tasted Philly Roll. It was horrible on taste and ginger was definitely spoiled. So we asked the waitress to take it of the list... AND HERE THE STORY BEGINS: they said it is impossible to take it of the list. After me trying to prove that i dont like it, the manager told me "We have already redone for you twice". We understood it is useless to discuss this with them. With the bill they gave us a piece of paper saying $5,50 off next visit, but it wasnt a visit card, no stamp and no signature on it, it looked like everybody can write it, so we didnt accepted it ( what if they refuse to take it next time ). We paid bill and left, listening how they were discussing us. We didnt hear any "Sorry".

i miss the old hayama, under the new ownership it is no where even close to the same. first off you go to a japanese restaurant on your birthday they better sing to you in words that you can not understand, then they shove an uncomfortable paper-mache hat on you and take a picture to put of Facebook. Whos friending Hayma anyway. the fried rice was no good, the guy who used to stand at the front and greet you is gone and theres pictures of the food on the outside of the restaurant. its almost like all japanese or chinese restaurants serve the same food now, because they all have the same pictures. More things that are wrong, no fried ice cream, no #1 chef, or #2, they dont even give you chop sticks, you have to ask for them. Bring back the old Hayma.

I havent had sushi like this in a long, long time. Quality is as good as any sushi Ive had while living in Japan. Plus, who can argue with all the sushi you can eat for about 20 bucks? The only other place Ive come across with the authentic-taste and texture of sushi is the House of Yoshida in Bethel, CT. Also, the last time I came across a place with cheaply-priced, yet quality sushi was a place I knew in Okinawa, Japan. Go for the all-you-can-eat sushi menu! You WONT be disappointed!

This is by far our favorite hibachi place to visit. The place is always spotless and the staff is amazing. Weve been going there for years and most often on a random weeknight so the place is usually pretty quiet and the service is excellent. Weekends can get pretty crazy so if you have a party bigger than 2, you probably want to make a reservation. Their sushi is pretty good, but certainly not the best around (try Tokyo Sushi II in North Haven - youll thank me later!)

They seemed to give up. Sad, once was great. They were cutting the grass with a weed wacker, new fly traps and papers all over an empty booth like it was an office. They made a family split up and have the two children who got hibachi eat with another party so they did not have to dirty another grill. Parking lot empty. They stop taking coupons too. End is near.

If you crave Chinese food and want to sample everything, this place is good. 4 stars for the hibachi grill. Spacious, open feel. Definitely not upscale dining but huge variety. Surprisingly clean restrooms for a place with such traffic.

This is one of our families favorite restaurants. The food is always great and the service has always been good. We have tried the newer restaurant Tengda and it was awful. Never stray again...cant wait for Hayama to re-open!

I ordered online through their website only to wait half an hour to find out that the orders dont work online. Take it off the website if it doesnt work! I ended up walking out with no food. Not happy at all!

This people are not happy to see you when you arrive at the place. In the same lunch with my girl we found one hair on the salad, one on the sushi. Do not go to this place.

What used to be a solid option for hibachi and sushi has declined greatly. I would no longer recommend it.

A very good pan-asian dining experience, not so much solely authentic Japanese, but still very good.
