This was the WORST experience I have ever had at a restaurant...will never be going back. I made a reservation for my four friends and myself one Friday night on the hibachi side. We got there five minutes early and were not seated until 7:50. We sat at a table with five or six other college students and none of us saw waitresses working or hibachi chefs anywhere near where we were sitting. One kid was so hungry after an hour that he walked to Walgreens across the street, got a bag of chips and brought it back to the restaurant because we couldnt get any food. The boys left a little before 9 PM after complaining. The manager came over and tried to tell us that we werent waiting for that long and tried to defend her poor staff...chef finally started cooking at 9 PM!!!!! I have a shell-fish allergy and am lactose intolerant and the chef put butter all over my food and mixed the vegetables on the grill AFTER COOKING THE SHELLFISH! Then he told me that I needed to eat my food...HORRIBLE. Worst restaurant I have ever stepped into. I cant believe I even paid. We left the restaurant at 9:45...after being there for over two hours! Dont got here.

I have been here a few times and the habachi where you sit and he chef cooks infront of you was always good. However this time my boyfriend and I went to just the normal seating area and ordered habachi. Well... The drinks took about an hour to come out, so we were given a small hot sake "on us" the waiter said...finally after probably another 45-55 mins my boyfriends dinner came to the table but not mine. Even the people next to us who were seated about 30-40 mins after we got there BOTH had there meals before us. Well bottom line my boyfriend finished his whole meal and I still didnt have mine at the table yet.. I was told sorry its coming ... I told them just take it off the bill I dont want it anymore.... Finally 20 mins after I asked for the bill it came back with the same charged to us and two of the meals I ordered charged to us along with my bfs meal... We got it all taken off but bottom line ... Only go for the chef cooking infront of you and not to there normal tables... Another couple and there son left without there food as well!

When we walked in it was empty and cold, which should have raised a flag but considering it was 6:45 on a Wednesday night we brushed it off. We were slightly greeted by a manager that had a look on her face like she would rather be anywhere else but there. We asked her how she was doing, and she boldly proclaimed that she was "sick as a dog and was tired of people coming into the restaurant and getting her sick". The server was friendly in a clumsy way but seemed to like her job, and did it fairly well. The hibachi chef was typically entertaining and cooked well, the food was tasty and portion size was decent enough for a take home container,. So overall it was just OK!..probably wont make the drive again.

I ordered a Salmon bento box for lunch. Host barely spoke and stood there dumbfounded when I asked for a lunch menu. The food took about 15 minutes to cook and was mediocre AT BEST. The salad it came with was wilted, the dressing was disgusting, the miso soup tasted like the water had old gym socks soaking in it, and as for the bento box itself, the container was massive but barely filled with food. The salmon was dry, Im not sure how they can ruin white rice but they did; in all the best thing in this order was the egg role which barely came with any dipping sauce. I normally give places another shot but I will NOT be coming back here! Way too many negatives for me to reconsider.

i stopped by for dinner last night, and to say the experience was excellenet is an understatement, my friend and i ordered almost everything on the menu, and we were in food heaven!!!! from the steamed shrimp shumai and steamed Gyoza as appetizers to the black peppered tuna in mango sauce, then been negimaki and moving on to sushi rolls such as fresh lobster roll, spicy girl roll, king crab roll, and sweet potato roll. all while sipping on the house special ice green tea. the perfect meal came to an end with coconut Taro ice cream, my new love...the one which will bring me back to Akita over and over again... join me if you want to go to heaven for an hour or two.

This restaurant isnt even listed on Trip Advisor! Ate on the hibachi side. My wife, teenage son and myself. Seated across was a young man wearing a Delta Tau Delta shirt and 3 companions. My son ordered an easy appetizer. They ruined it. Twice. My meal was prepared by, Id like to say a chef but, a chef in training. Rice and noodles, fair. I ordered Hibachi Seafood Combo. Lobster was good. Shrimp way too undercooked. Scallops were overdone on the outside. I think the Management must believe AKITA translated into English means "horrendous".

The rudest attitude ever. We 2 couples walked in - the waitress AND the manager refused to allow us to sit at the table of our choice. The table we wanted to sit at was not reserved. Apparently they have "their rules and an order" in which customers MUST be seated. We asked five times and were refused five times without any reason, just because how they feel we should sit. We simply left, did not even eat. We were never before treated so rudely. Dont want their food.

I made a reservation on a Monday for Thursday night for 10 people, it was my friends 22nd birthday and we are all in college and chose Akita because online the prices were less than somewhere like Sakura, but when we got there each dish was at least $5 more than advertised online. Our waitress was rude from the second we walked in and got all of our orders wrong. Overall the service was terrible and the food was average. Not worth the money.

Went there for sushi with my wife. Thought the sushi was okay (not the best but certainly had worse). The service, however, was terrible. First, received the wrong dish - ordered the tri-color sushi but received sashimi. Waitress tried to pass it off as a mistake on the consumer. Second, the wife ordered a spring roll which she never received (but paid for). Given the other options in the area, I dont think well be back.

Incredible on all counts.very lovely restaurant and the full overhead fish tank at the entrance is extraordinary. Food, drinks, service, atmosphere and attention to detail are all astonishing. Truly amazing place from start to finish; the best Asian Fusion and Steakhouse in the area and price is well below fairfield county normal. my dinner is always perfect at Akita plus i love the scenic design. I highly recommend Akita

For 6 years I always went to the same sushi and hibachi place, then by chance I discovered Akita and now I dont go any where else. I regularly get sushi and Ramen (although I never can eat it all at once) but it is so good that I love to take it home. I have gotten food hibachi style as well and it is great. Also Akita has anot app that gives me rewards so it makes the meal all the better.
