We entered the Townsquare Diner restaurant of Wharton, NJ calmly and happily. A retired veteran couple with a service dog… We were received by the staff with skeptical looks and no greetings. We requested a booth in the back corner where our service dog would be comfortable and out of the way. The restaurant host seated us in a corner booth, gave us menus and then walked away. A server approached us and politely took our drink orders seemingly unbothered by our service dog. Within 2 minutes of the server leaving our table the restaurant hostess (perhaps owner) approached us. She requested that we move the service dog underneath of our small booth table. Blankly and uncomfortably staring at us, “Ummm… can you put that dog under your table…?” she asked. We politely declined her unsettling request, “No, ma’am. We’re not going to try and fit her under this table, she’s not required to do that.” She was very displeased with our response and continued to stand over our table and make further unreasonable requests. “Can you move over there… (pointing to the center of the restaurant dining area) and put your dog in the middle there?” (No ‘Please’ or ‘I’m sorry’) We replied, “We requested and were granted this booth – I have back injuries and am unable to comfortably sit in the hard wooden seats.” Still the hostess remained standing over our table. She continued to stare at us, unsatisfied with our responses or seating arrangements, which were provided by the main host. She continued to state that we were ‘in the way of all of the servers’ and that she would ‘have to explain to all of the servers to walk around the table next to our booth’ to reach the server stand in the back corner of the restaurant, next to where we had been placed in our booth. We sat there trying to understand how servers would not be able to pass by us at our table… There was ample room, and yes, servers would be passing our service dog in the walk area. The hostess motioned for the main host to join her side standing over our table. The main host came over, sided with her, and told us that, “All of the other ‘ones’ put them under the tables,” as if there were a set procedure for placement of service dogs in their restaurant. Further confused by this and frustrated by the lack of respect for a 13 year veteran we explained that we were becoming embarrassed by the obvious attention the hosts were attracting to us. The situation became even more uncomfortable and we also informed the hostess that we felt she had reached the point of being rude with us. The hostess replied, “Oh, I’m rude?!” At that point we informed the hosts we were not suing them, but didn’t wish to remain in their restaurant. We got up and left the restaurant without making any scene or raising out voices. When we got to our car, a fellow restaurant patron approached us to apologize for the restaurant staff’s treatment of us. He informed us that the restaurant hostess said, “I can’t believe they brought a dog in here!” This is clearly inappropriate and offensive behavior for the Townsquare Diner management. They have no idea how to handle or respect a service dog, let alone a retired service veteran. This is appalling behavior for an establishment that operates on a customer service basis right outside of an army installation. Needless to say we will not be sending any business their way.

I usally do not comment on any social media about food and service. yesterday on 7/31/2016, we ate at townsquare diner, right after church. The service was not very good, * note, wrong food was bought out, no forks, napkins on the table. I felt that the server wanted us to eat with our hands and we had to ask him for water. I was very suprised at the service and how I was treated, with my wife. I was alwasy telling my wife what a great diner this was, and went to the diner after Church, by-passing Hiberna Diner-. Next Time, I will stick with what is good and the service, is out of this world- Hiberna Diner.

Third time there. Indifferent approach to my menu choice on the part of the chef. Untoasted hamburger buns which was gooey and inedible with Portobello mushroom and cheese and a turkey party in the middle. Ask them to leave the bun off which was how I imagined it. Either way the gems of the place are the wait staff. Friendly, competent, and deserve to be serving better food. Plating and presentation was bad. Definitely not as good as years ago. Somebody needs to go behind and check on whos in charge in the kitchen now.

Me and my family come up to the NJ/NY area once every few years to see family and a few years ago, as per my mothers decision, we went around to look for a real diner to eat at since down in our homestate of FL, there arent many diners. I digress, this diner in particular has become a place we make sure to visit and eat at everytime we make our 21 hour car ride up from FL. Great food, awesome service. The owners are super friendly and we befriended our server from the first time we ate there.

Food and service was mediocore. Dont get anything with grilled chicken it will come out like rubber. When i sent it back the mamager apologized but seem shocked. He did let me switch it out. From a service stand point i was surprised they actually charged me for my replacement dish. Ive never been to a restaurant where i sent a dish back got a nrw one and was charged. For me it was subpar. Way better diners in the area. Wont be going back

I cant rate the food because I didnt get a chance to eat any of it, I walked in and no one greeted me, no hello, no one second, nothing! After a few minutes a finally asked me was I being helped. (at least three servers with looked like management walked pass me) people came in after me and they were greeted and seated. I will never come back to this diner or ever recommend it. I guess I was in the wrong part of town I dont know

Ive been here several times now with co-workers. The food is just average and the service is okay but EVERYONE that works is always courteous but never friendly. They all have a glazed over look in there eyes. Its like being surrounded by robots. Why dont restaurant managers understand that the EXPERIENCE when you dine is just as important as the food.

I have nothing but AMAZING things to say. I went to the diner with my boyfriend on a whim, and I officially have a new favorite restaurant! Everything was perfect, and even after being stuffed until I couldnt have possibly eaten any more, I still pained to more of their fabulous dishes. I highly recommend the Townsquare Diner! :]

This is our go to diner in the area. Weve been here probably two dozen times or more in the past three years and always leave full and satisfied. Great breakfasts, always served fast. Coffee is usually hot and on the stronger side, which I like. Dinners are always delicious and the sweet cheese bread definitely is a treat!

We go to town square diner a lot the food is always delicious and the service is great. Food arrives quickly and they always accommodate reasonable special requests. They also do catering and their holidays meals are the best you always get more then enough to eat
