I came to the back bay bistro with my mother and father for breakfast today. Driving through town this morning revealed that the other two breakfast places were busy, as there were a lot of people waiting outside. When we got to the Back Bay Bistro and inquired about the wait time we got quoted 15 to 20 minutes. We got seated about 25 minutes later by a host who, in her own words, “Couldn’t wait to get out of here in an hour and a half”. Hindsight being 20/20 I now understand why. The waitress came up to the table and took our drink order, brought back our drinks, and took our food order. My mom ordered apple cinnamon french toast, dad ordered an omelette with veggies, and I ordered scrambled eggs. Than we waited… and waited… and waited. Approximately 30 minutes went by and the waitress offered a refill on drinks but unfortunately offered no explanation as to why the food was taking so long. Another 20 minutes later (yes thats almost one hour to get breakfast) we were presented with our order. Upon inspection the french toast was cooked on the top, however, it was not cooked on the bottom. My mom alerted the waitress, who took the food back, and asked for dry toast because at this point we were all VERY hungry and did not want to wait for a meal. The omelette had bits of eggshell in it, but my father was hungry enough to eat around it. The host ended up coming back around and asked how the meal was. We informed her of the issues we experienced and she removed the charges for both of the meals. The restaurant was very nicely painted, appointed, and decorated but having a nice looking place only gets you so far. The team that is currently in place is pleasant but seems to be mostly inexperienced and slow. Additionally, the kitchen needs help. If i had to make a guess the kitchen is understaffed and trying to get food out to the customers who are waiting, while getting pressure from the waitresses. We live here all year round and in order to keep surviving you need to provide your customers with better food service and communication if things are running slow. The current way the restaurant is being operated right now is unacceptable.

Very good and reasonably priced BYOB restaurant. Anything I ever ordered there was delicious including seafood, pasta dinners, sandwiches, paninis, pizzas and strombolis. They dont rush their pizzas. They are thoroughly baked thin crust pizzas. The restaurants atmosphere is on the plain side with nondescript decor but it is clean. The servers are good. They have takeout and delivery. A favorite place for locals. Open year round. Only wish their website had ability to place takeout orders over the web. They are a good restaurant so their phone can get busy at dinner time.

Our server was wonderful. My prime rib was tough and had no flavor. I told them and they didnt offer to correct it. We ordered chicken parmesan and asked for Alfredo suace instead of marinara. They said it was a 2.00 up charge and there was no Alfredo suace on it at all. The manger argued with me even after I showed her it didnt have Suace on it. She was very unprofessional. A manager should never argue with a customer. Potatoe skins and sweet potatoe wedges were good.

The food thats reasonable in price with a great early bird special. everything from the cream of asparagus soup, tender prime rib with garlic mashed potatoes and freshly sauteed spinach down to the raspberry tea and bread pudding with vanilla sauce, all for under $20. Jeff., the server was great. very knowledgeable about the food and gave fantastic service. All that and top it off with pleasant atmosphere and nice music to dine by.

10/10 Ecellent food as always. First time having the habanero mango shrimp and it was out of this world. The steak was exactly as I ordered it (medium rare) and very tender and juicy. The waitress (Ashley) was very polite and was right there when I needed her. I usually order delivery and get cheesesteaks and mozzarella sticks which are by far the best in south Jersey. Portions and price are also great.

The dirtiest kitchen and the dirtiest Kitchen crew I ever seen in my life. I used to work there before and I know everything about restaurant and what I saw there in 1 month of my work I didnt see it no where else. I saw the Chef drop a nice big piece of stake on the floor pick it up put it back in the plate and serve it to the customer. It was way better and cleaner when it was BELLA MANGIATA.

Always have a great experience when we dine at Back Bay. We have eaten at most of the Cape May area Restaurants including the Wildwoods. They have some of the best wait staff. Love the penne pasta with shrimp in vodka sauce, Salmon dish, love there house salad and foccoca. We live here all summer and look forward to going back.

Im an all year round resident, Ive only been to Back Bay Bistro a couple times and every time I get something other than what I ordered or my order gets screwed up. Pizza isnt too tasty either, Ive had better. Not the best quality. Wouldnt recommend to anyone!

Born and raised in Brooklyn, must say their pizza is great. Been going here since it opened for business. A gem in the Villas. Consistently clean with friendly, attentive staff, pleasant atmosphere and all the food is very, very good.

Bad service experience. Made a reservation but they claimed not to have it even though I showed them the confirm. Had to wait for a table then it took very long for entrees to arrive. Food is good but service was poor.

A very nice local place. Service and food were very good. Be sure to try the house dressing. It is a bit of the beaten path and not convenient to the main center in Cape May. No view.

A neighborhood gem. White tablecloth but casual, with moderate prices. BYO wine. A little noisy, but still can be intimate. Will be back.
