I had gone to Uminoya a couple years ago and enjoyed their sushi very much. The other day I went with my girlfriend because we like to compare Japanese restaurants and boy I wish i hadnt. We particularly like bento boxes so we ordered a chicken and a beef bento box. The beef was way over-cooked, the shrimp tempura wasnt deveined, the california rolls were poor quality and the chicken is processed. I actually called a waitress over because I thought mine was undercooked, after a small argument with her about the chicken she ordered me another small plate of chicken teriyaki that was exactly the same. Spongey, not veiney, obviously processed. All of these things wouldnt have bothered me as much if the waitress hadnt questioned me about the chicken and kind of gave me a hard time. I should have known by the texture that it was processed right away but I just originally assumed it was undercooked. Oh well. Still havent found a restaurant that competes with Ha Na and Ichiban.

We have been coming here since they opened. The overall quality used to be spectacular because the turnover was so high. Recently however quality has gone down considerably and noticeably. I usually get in addition to my normal meal, a sweet potato roll, and now they are oil saturated and it tastes like the oil is not fresh either. Little things like this make the restaurant experience memorable but for the wrong reasons. There are so many other restaurants out there that there is no reason to stick with one after you had a bad experience. I dont think Ill be back

The restaurant is nice enough inside although a little on the dark side and their sushi is half price. But basically you get what you pay for. You will not be served high grade sushi. The sushi at Uminoya doesnt even compare to sushi youll be served at Xina on Rt 37 in Toms River or at Koi Asian Fusion in Brick. Uminoya is ok if your looking for a cheap sushi dinner. I suggest you pay a little more and really enjoy a great sushi dinner at Xina or Koi.

food is good but the girls working here are very rude with Americans! she got real snarky when i asked for yum yum sauce. so i give one star! we asked to sit and they said thy needed to get permission because we first ordered out. then when we sat down a long time later they threw our bag of food on table without any utensils or plates. we also had to ask for drinks after fifteen minutes being ignored.

This is the worst place Ive ever been. Staff is rude and I didnt like service. May bill was $33.93 so I decided to leave $1.07 for tips for letting them know how bad it was. I paid with card and sign on $35.00 total bill. Two days later I looked at my account and saw that Uminoya tiped them self!!! I saw $41.00 charged from my card for Uminoya. SUCH A FILTHY RESTAURANT!!!

Dont be fooled by the outside (strip mall). I found the atmosphere to be cozy inside. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Three of us ordered beverages, a bento box and 10 sushi rolls on a huge plate and only spent $58. Try this place

Sushi is very good. Other Japanese food is also very good. Prices are excellent! 50% Off sushi and rolls. Excellent lunch specials. We found the service efficient but definitely not friendly! Definitely worthwhile.

This is the best, most cost efficient place to get sushi and Asian food. I go here at least once a month and spend 20 bucks and get so much sushi. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.
