This was 1st and last my wife and I will ever eat here. The service was appalling. We felt like we were purposely being ignored. Once we got seated the waitress came over and too our orders and a few min later brought us our drinks and guacamole . Once e finished our drinks and guacamole we waited another 20 min for then to come and ask if we wanted refills, we did and they brought them. 20 min later they bring most of our food out. My wife ordered fajitas and they forgot; tortillas, a plate, and all the other things to make fajitas. I figured they would be right back with them, I was wrong. A little less then 10 min later they bring out the rest of the missing items. I should also note her order was wrong. My dinner was way over priced for what it was. I ordered the chicken and shrimp in a tomato cream sauce. The portions were a joke for the money they charged. I received 2 small to medium sized chicken breasts and 2 shrimps for $20. I eat at José Tejas all the time $20 gets you almost 2 dozen shrimp, homemade tortillas, Cajun rice and beans and its out in about 8 min of ordering.

Not sure what any of the rave reviews are about. For the price, the food was pretty mediocre. Ive had Mexican food in San Diego, and they know how to make it! I ordered my steak medium and it was VERY well done, not even a hint of pink (although the flavor on the steak was decent). The rice and beans were basic-actually looked like boxed rice and not home made. I also had the tortilla soup which, besides some spicy heat, was also lacking in flavor. Out of the 6 of us that dined there last night, 3 of us got sick overnight/into the morning and we all had different things so we cant even pinpoint what got us sick (stomach cramps and a lot of nausea). Our server (we ate outside) had zero personality and really seemed like he did not want to be there. He wasnt rude, but couldve been a little friendlier. Its definitely not a place I would recommend, there are many more options that are better, and I feel bad having so many negative things to say because we went here based on a friends recommendation.

The food was really interesting. Our mussels appetizer came with a flavorful sauce, but it completely overwhelmed the delicate taste of the mussels. They might as well not been there. The mussels and the sauce were both good, just not meant to be together. Our main meals were flavorful and delicious. One problem was all of us could not understand what any of the staff was saying Yes it was loud there, which we expected, but from the beginning, when the maitre de was asking if our group had reservations , to the servers describing the specials and desserts, we were lost. The staff we spoke with all had strong accents, and between that and the volume we mostly ordered blind. Considering the volume and language differences, a printed page with specials and desserts would have been appreciated. As it was, my order of chocolate cake turned out to be molten lava cake, not something I would have ordered. The drinks were excellent and visually attractive.

The food is OK, not amazing or anything. Kind of overpriced. Mostly I am upset because they pushed us out. We had a table of 8 for Fathers Day with a reservation. We got there on time, sat down, ordered apps, sangria tower, margaritas and entrees. We had paid (tipped well) and were still chatting and finishing our drinks 1hr and 20mins after sitting down when this server (not our nice young lady, but a pudgy bald guy) comes over and says in a super sarcastic tone, "Are you guys OK, do you need anything?" I said we we fine, but got the message and told my family we should start packing up to free the table. Less than 5 minutes later he comes over again and tells us hes sorry, but there is another group there with a reservation and they need the table. We left almost immediately, but wow. Not going back. That was rude as hell.

Everything that could go wrong did. First we got salsa was nasty and had a fizzy taste to it, we sent back. The tamarindo drink was so thick and not sweet at all. We ordered beef nachos as an appetizer and didnt get beef on our nachos. We sent it back to get our beef nachos. Then we ordered their beef empanadas and was not cooked all the way. The waiter did apologize but the manager still had the nerve to charge us full price for everthing with only $1 off our bill. This was the 2nd time weve been here and it wasnt any better the 2nd time.

I have lived in Haledon for a long time, I have traveled to mexico but this place is unbelievable. The service is great without being overwhelmed. The food is insane and I cannot stop talking about it. Please go and experience it for yourself. I give it an 11 on a scale of 1-10.

Four stars because of the entrance hard to find. You need to drive up like someones drive way to get to this place. Really good ambience prices ok. Really nice piña coladas on a pineapple.... Good place for cheaters (joke) because is deep in the back nobody will never know

Great authentic food, spectacular drinks, and wonderful atmosphere. The staff is always pleasant, fun and attentive. A great place to gather with friends or family. Wonderful outside dining during the warm months. Marge Sietsma

Cute spot with decent huge margaritas, but the food is neither authentic nor great. Id recommend it for casual drinks and snacks/apps, especially if the weather is nice as they have a little patio with umbrellas over the tables.

Great food and close to home. We havent had a bad meal here. If anything it can get very crowded. But the margaritas and mango tequila is a must. Staff is friendly and courteous. On a nice evening the outside seating is a must.

Looking for good Mexican food...look elsewhere. This is an overpriced variation of On the Boarder and Chilis. A burrito and taco dish will put you back $35 with tip. Pleeeese! Boy, do I miss SoCal Mexican food...

Down a secluded rode, good feel with music, portion sizes are pretty big (And Im a big boy) and very delicious. A little pricier than 1 dollar sign though, its at least two.

Cinco De Mayo has great food and service, but has minimal parking space and is hard to find. This is a great place to take friends on a Friday night.

Cinco De Mayo Bar and Restaurant is wonderful. The size of their meals are awesome, the price for their dishes are very reasonable.
