Yesterday, I had a terrible experience with the staff and management of this restaurant. I was waiting in line to be greeted and directed to a table to sit when the host/waiter addressed me by staring at me. He then stated, "what do you want?" I was very offended because I was waiting in line and the two people ahead of me (who were white) were greeted politely and immediately ushered to their seats. So I asked him, "why are you talking to me this way? Why do you think I am here and waiting in line?" He responded, "I dont know...I mean, what do you want?" I stormed out of the restaurant and then the someone followed me outside (I believe was the manager) but his response was not satisfactory because I felt like he was concerned with having me seated not addressing his staff about his rude and prejudice approach to a black customer. In the past, I raved about this restaurant because the entrees are good but the service was disgusting and the response from the manager was disappointing. I no longer recommend this restaurant to anyone as they have lost touch with their sense of customer service and human decency.

The tapas we ordered were good but uninspiring. The best was the bacon wrapped dates. The croquettes, fried manchego, and artichokes were good, but none of them were unique and they were a bit bland. The paella, on the other hand, was not good. The rice was not very flavorful. The seafood was very plentiful but did not have a great taste. I started picking the mussels and scallops out and setting them aside. The vegetarian paella was no better. Service was good. The space is attractive. The portion sizes were excellent (everything was bigger than I usually expect, even the glasses of wine). These almost deserve another star. But we left several portions of paella on the table because we knew we would not eat the leftovers for another meal.

I don't know where these other reviewers were eating cause it certainly wasn't the same place I was. First, the bread was cold, not room temperature, not warm, cold. Like they took it out of the fridge moments before serving it. The soup (Garlic soup) was lukewarm and flavorless. The meatball tapas were lukewarm and bland. Our entrees, pork chops and arroz con pollo, were terrible. The pork chops were overcooked and without flavor. The rice was over cooked on the bottom but raw ontop. The chicken was foul tasting and the chorizo tasted like mildly spicy hot dogs. To make matters worse, the service was horrible and slow. Also, and this is a minor gripe, who charges $2.00 for half a can of soda?

These guys do it right. Four or five visits confirm consistency of quality for the idlis, which elsewhere are often underdone (raw batter) or old and stale (even to the point of having a crispy exterior). Sambar and chutney are really good, too. Excellent dal and curries as well: Try the beet root or the spinach. The latter is not the oily saag you are accustomed to (this is SOUTH India!). Spice level is geared toward the Indian palate, as one always hopes but seldom finds. I couldnt find papadum on the menu, but ask and theyll make some for you. Two dining rooms, one kitchen now. One entrance on Bowne and another, newer one on Holly Ave.

AND I HAVE BEEN GOING TO THE SPANISH PAVILLION SINCE BEFORE WE WERE MARRIED , ABOUT 38 YEARS . WE HAD OUR REHERSAL DINNER THERE IN 1980 . WE HAVE NEVER HAD ANYTHING BUT GREAT FOOD AND GREAT SERVICE WE JUST LOVE THE PLACE AND HAVE PASSED THAT TRADITION ON TO OUR SONS . ALONG WITH ANYONE WE ARE FRIENDS WITH . ONLY PROBLEM WE HAVE IS WHEN WE GO THERE WE HAVE TO ORDER THE GARLIC CHICKEN ( ON THE BONE ) AND THE SHRIMP IN WINE SAUCE JUST CANNOT GO THERE AND JUSTIFY NOT ORDERING THOSE TWO , AT LEAST FOR US . SOOOOOOO GOOD BUT ANYTHING WE HAVE ORDERED HAS ALWAYS BEEN GREAT , NEVER A COMPLAINT.

As it is one of the most popular spanish dish, I always try paella whenever I go to spanish restaurant, but Ive never liked the dish except this place. You dont have to order for two when you go with someone because an order for single is very much enough for two and you would even bring it home with you. Their calamari with sweet & hot (order mixed flavor) is something you cant find at any other place. Someone below wrote that they just sometimes go here for the calamari and sangria, and so do we! We always order calamari pavillion with red sangria and we have never failed with it.

This was a weird place. The food appeared to be traditional SPAIN variety Spanish food, but the decor and atmosphere didnt fit. The music bad EDM that was way too loud, and the quirky bartender appeared to be pumping it out of an Android tablet propped up on the bar that was "mixing" the tracks for him in a way that made it painful to hear. The beer selection was very limited and obscure, nothing worth noting except for the Spanish dark lager I chose. The chicken and sausage dish I ordered lacked flavor and the chicken was fatty. I would not go back.

Easily one of the better dining experiences you can find in the tri-state area. Theres definitely something for everyone on the menu. Some of my favorites are the shrimp and garlic and potato croquettes for tapas. Their chicken and garlic is a staple as well as their shrimp in wine sauce. The menu also features offerings from Chef Gordon Ramsay. If youre an MLS soccer fan, the venue is a stones throw from the Red Bull Arena. Also worth checking out the outdoor patio for live music, and drink specials.

For a restaurant specializing in seafood you would think that they would know to remove the pin bones before cooking the fish. At first I thought they just missed one but then there was the second bone, then the third, then the fourth by the time I got to the seventh I couldnt eat anymore out of disgust. I see why this place was on Kitchen Nightmares and it obviously didnt learn anything from Gordon Ramsey.

The atmosphere in the restaurant is quaint and romantic. The food here deserves rave reviews. Every dish of tapas we ordered was unique and original. The calamari was cooked to perfection, something Ive not seen in top Zagat rated places. The bacon wrapped dates were unbelievable. Their sangria was great and strong. If youre ever in town, visit the Spanish Pavilion.

Excellent food: better menu and more value than Don Pepe across the Passaic River in Newark. A delightful outdoor dining area in the summer. The lobster is good, the mariscos and most standard Spanish fare excellent. Convenient to the Hampton Inn Suites. Worthy night out with the significant other.

Food is great, service is friendly and quick with the possible exception of some weekends when they are jammed. Value for money is excellent on the food (liquor is questionable). Really is very little to dislike, except that everybody knows how great it is, and it shows in the crowds they get.
