This a total biker bar. In the summer the big wooden front porch is dripping with scraggly-bearded, tatooed, greasy, roughnecks. And those are the girls! Seriously, this place is vintage north jersey. The bartender is hairy, big and scary, but in a good way. Sincerely friendly and welcoming. People make you feel at home fast. Its a total dump. Great for a first date. Shell love it! If she doesnt, dump her. Great sound system and BlueRay concert series video jukebox behind the bar. The live bands appearing in this tiny space draw a sureal smile from the Rock&Rye crowd. The band I saw certainly complemented the venue. Come by car, hog or camel, but dont overdue it, be careful. This highway roadhouse is situated in a dangerous location after dark. Worth the risk.

The place rocks. At first glance I was a little apprehensive about walking in as the outside of the place was strewn with motorcycles. I am not a biker so I was a little worried that I would feel out of place. However low and behold we were greeted with a warm welcome by the extremely nice bartenders that work there. Its a family run business by a very nice family, and the place itself has a lot of history behind it. The crowd was a definite mix, there were bikers, older couples dancing and looking to have fun, younger kids in there 20s pre-gaming it before they go to a club, etc. The drink prices were are very reasonable too. Great bands, the entertainment is always top notch as well. A definite recommend.

One of the most well-known bars that people dont know enough to go to. One reason: sometimes looks like a biker bar. It is. Sometimes looks like a dive bar. It is. Doesnt advertise other than the unlit sign on route 46 west just west of Route 3 that you cant see you until you pass it. If you pass it and dont turn around, you also pass up some of the best impromptu and polished performances of rock n roll, rhythm and blues, blues, jazz and more, all the way back to roots. Monday nights jam has never been boring and never been the same twice for nearly 10 years now. If you dont stop by on a Monday night youre just "out of it" ladies and germs !

The Notch is my kind of joint. It has come a long way. The original owner hated beards and leather jackets and refused to serve people who wore them. His grandson has done a lot with the place. I dont consider it a "biker bar". Sure, there are frequently some motorcycles in the parking lot. But there are many people there who are not "bikers". There are a lot of college students and other people. I really hate to label people. They are not "bikers". They are HARLEY-AMERICANS. What is the big deal? Many motorcycle enthusiasts are now a new upscale demographic.

Great watering hole. They have some great live music here if youre into rock and blues. Very friendly bartenders. Many bikers stop here, but Ive never had any issue with them nor have I heard of anyone having a problem. If anything, theyre rather fun and good-natured. My only issue is I dont know when this place is actually open...some nights it looks totally closed, other afternoons it looks jam packed (dozens of choppers out in the lot). Strange...

Good local place and a nice change from most of the bars in Jersey filled with people in tight shirts and gelled hair. Once you get over the intimidation from the large amounts of bikes outside and the small inside, its a pretty good place to have a beer and watch a band. The bartender that was there when I went was a really nice guy who had no problem making a very girly drink for the two girls I brought.

Always drove past it and wondered if it was a fun place to chill and enjoy. I was not disappointed. Had a great time and met wonderful peeps. Live music was great; even on a Tuesday evening. Richie, you rock!
