If you go to Fin youre in for an experience. Be prepared to spend about $75 per person, but with the price of admission that will include a few drinks, appetizer, sampling of oysters, and a fantastic main course. Recommendations: Main Course: 7 Spiced Big Eye Tuna (Their most popular dish, I loved it) Drink: Man-garita (If you like smoky flavor) Unique Experience: (Oyster bar) Tips: Drinks: Cocktails are only $10, and the beer is around $7 a bottle. I think the best bang for your buck here is to get a cocktail, spending the price of a six pack for one beer makes me sad. If you like drinks like Johnny Walker where you can taste the smoke aged into the Scotch, I think youll be a big fan of their Man-garita. The Man-garita is a mixture of rum, apple cider, dry curacao and a few other ingredients, and the glass is lined with a smoked sea salt. Oysters: The raw bar is great, you should try it if youre there. If you are going to have oysters, and youre picking several different kinds and you want to taste the differences and experience the different textures of the oysters, eat them as is without any sauce on top. My wife and I arent sophisticated oyster eaters, and my wife missed out on some of the experience because she loaded up the first few oysters with a red sauce. Its the same as getting a great expensive coffee and drinking it with milk and sugar... whats the point? Eat the oysters as is, and try to taste the differences.

I initially had my doubts about Fin as it looked pretty swanky and thought the food would not match the ambiance. I was expecting to be let down. I was far from let down and we strolled in 30 minutes prior to closing on Saturday night so I figured that would also impact the quality of the food and service. It did not. I definitely recommend going for the Raw Oysters to start. We split 8 and that was plenty to hold us over until dinner arrived. For dinner, I went with the 7 Spiced Big Eye Tuna. I highly recommend this. It was delicious and the soba noodles were so good. My girlfriend had the Faroe Island Scottish Salmon and that was also pretty amazing. I preferred the 7 Spiced Big Eye Tuna but her rice was really good. I definitely plan on coming back here to try out more of the menu.

Its about average. The prices are decent, but they hold back on quantity to make up for it. The atmosphere is great with a shipyard/wooden feel, but much too loud as a result. They need some soft materials to absorb voices. Id give it a 4/5 if it were a little quieter, which is about as high as typically rank when I really enjoy a place. 5/5 if it had a healthier(unhealthier) portion size. I tried the squid ink pasta. It could have been more flavorful. The pasta noodles were black, having squid ink mixed into the grain. It didnt add much flavor though. My fiancees steak looked great, and the octopus app was great (just a little too small). I think Ill try it again, Ill just order a fish entree to get a better gauge. Ill also go on a weekday for some peace and quiet.

I wouldnt rush back. I liked the ambiance and the lobster Mac and cheese, but the yuca fries were bone dry, we didnt eat them and I told two people and they didnt take them off the bill, my swordfish was dry but the bed of squash was very good, yet seemed out of season. Because I work in the industry, I know I am overly critical but also overly aware of everything around me, such as the texture my wine glass stem and the incredible job the food runner /busser did. Honestly, I think this place needs work and wasnt worth $30 per plate. Also, watching all the people try and come in the doors, that werent doors drove us crazy.

When Raw opened a few years back, you could hear the collective cheer of foodies looking for a dedicated seafood restaurant in Montclair. It has not failed to impress. Grab a drink at the bar while you wait (The Montclair Mule, a twist on the Moscow variety) will get you in the mood for a good night out. The oysters and seafood are fresh, service dependable and the ambiance, a retro mix of shabby chic meets a faux seafood shack. During peak dining times this space gets LOUD.

my girlfriend found this place...... and you always have to be skeptical when you find a restaurant with a trendy décor because it will usually have mediocre food at a high price and small portions and this was definitely one of those restaurants. I think the food at beth Israel medical center was better than the 32 dollar little piece of tuna that I got at this place. and this is supposed to be a top restaurant in monclar????

Great food, staff is very attentive and knowledgeable. Can get a bit loud because of the high ceilings. Nice on the weekdays when its not as busy. This is a BYOB as most places in Montclair but they have a delivery service that is very quick with good prices. Been here on many occasions and never been disappointed. When I have a taste for oysters or any other seafood this place is always first on my list.

Was here for Mothers Day 2015, and everything from the food to the service to the decor was excellent. Knocked a star for how loud it got, but its not stopping us from going back on Fathers Day. Try for a bold preparation, because if it sounds delicate, itll be bland. Other than that advice, great place.

Went to enjoy an evening with my wife at a way above average restaurant but for the rowdy table of 2 couples seated near us. They were loud and using profane language. They were never asked to tone it down. Ruined the evening for us. Not what was expected after spending $200 plus.

Amazing décor and cuisine. The fish was all very fresh and Barramundi was a welcome change from the standards. Calamari was fried to perfection with traditional marinara and another creamy sauce. Service was also impressive for how busy this place was on a Saturday night.

A little over hyped, but in the end its a solid spot. Service is good, management is great. Raw bar is top notch, while entrees are just ok. Wine selection is limited, but more than enough to cover a great dinner. Atmosphere is energetic and helps make for a great night.

Over priced without good quality. They charged $15 for just penne pasta with olive oil for my 9 month old son?? My $30 shrimp dish only had 4 shrimps and didnt taste good. Plus our waitress was very slow & had an attitude...will not be returning.

My favorite restaurant in Montclair. Awesome fresh seafood, super friendly and helpful service, and an ambiance that makes you feel like youre on Nantucket. Great, great restaurant. Best seafood spot in northern Jersey.

Excellent food. Well prepared and tasty food served by a helpful and kind waiting staff. Tables seem a bit too close together, so it is a bit crowded. It is pretty expensive, but worth the price.
