This was my husbands and I first visit. Walking in there was no one at the desk to greet us. We didnt know whether it was self seating or if we would be seated by a host. After standing and waiting for 5 minutes a staff member greeted us. She asked if we would be taking out or dining in. We decided to dine-in. The noise level was loud, there was a party of 10-12 people celebrating a birthday. After being seated for 10 minutes our waitress (short lady with ponytail) finally came to take our drink order. And after waiting another 10 minutes she returned with our drinks (water with lemon) and proceeded to take our entree order. While waiting for our entrees we noticed another waitress (tall lady with head wrap) eating at the bar/counter while also attending to customers. Staff should never eat where they can be seen by customers. Our food arrived hot and ready. I had the Jumbo Fried Shirmp with Mac & Cheese and Candied Sweet Potatoes and my husband had Fried Catfish with the same sides as I. Overall the food was delicious minus the mac & cheese, it wasnt to my liking. The owner came out to ask how our food was, he was very pleasant. While packing up to leave, 2 older women came a half hour before closing and were also poorly greeted by the tall waitress. They asked to be seated and the waitress responded you can sit anywhere. She asked them whether they were dining-in or taking out. They replied dining-in, she said you know we close in 30 minutes. So the ladies said theyll take out. She then proceeded to ask if they had an idea on what they wanted to eat without ever giving them a menu. This type of emloyee had no business being out in the dining area waiting on customers, shes clearly not a people person. Overall the food was great but poor staff can ruin the experience.

Be Very Aware...Been here twice because this place was highly recommended by a friend. First time I ordered food to go. Vernon was very pleasant and helped me with ordering and even remembered me the second time I came. Second time I dined in bringing my mother as another recommendation by me but this time really rubbed me wrong. Food is great! I will not knock that at all but stealing from me is where i draw the line!!! At the end of meal I paid with a credit card and wrote the tip on tip line. I gave what i thought was a generous and what i could afford tip but saw the next day my card was charged $3.97 more than what i put. I could see giving more if the waitress was running between tables and was very busy, i have no problem with tipping more but me and my mom were the only ones there and she sat at bar doing nothing the whole time. Now first off I didnt have to tip when i ordered out but did and now my tip when i ate in was not good enough?!? Im real disappointed about this. I thought this would be my new spot to eat but see this has changed my mind greatly. You cant run a business like this.

Disappointed. My husband and I went last night just before closing. I heard a lot about this place so I figured the food would be good. Boy was I wrong. EVERYTHING taste just like salt. I couldnt taste the flavor of anything because it was salty. The greens taste like a salt brine, the Mac & Cheese is made with a flour rue, and chicken wings could have been cooked longer without so much salt and parsley. My husband loves black eyed peas, but it was more like onion soup with peas. This place is EXPENSIVE as hell. Pissed I wasted my money. The price and quality does not add up. $49 for 2 people with Apple cobbler that was fairly ok, only because the crust was good. The service was great! The young man that helped us was professional, welcoming, and patient. I usually dont tip if I pick up my own food, but I tipped him and wished I had more smaller bills to give more. Not a bad place, just dont sit well with my tastebuds. If Im going to spend that kind of money the food MUST be good, not disappointing!

My mother had a birthday party at Rochesters Sunday evening. It was awesome!!! First let me say 2 thumbs up to the waitresses and the waiter!! They were very accommodating and patient with the amount of people that were there. It had to be at least 20 people. Really the whole staff deserves a shout out...you all did ur thing! The food was great (a lil hot for my taste) (ease up on the pepper or cayenne guys) but all in all it was quite tasty. And the portions were the best!! They had an entertainer there Mike, I say entertainer because he was absolutely entertaining. He had us all singing and we were thrilled with all the songs he knew. He totally put his thing down!! I could go on and on so im just gonna say, we had an absolute great time! The atmosphere was awesome and i would recommend Rochesters each and every time. Thank u all, for making my moms birthday so extra special!!!

Absolutely fantastic place to eat. A friend took me here after purchasing a Groupon deal, soon after I moved to the area. Lets just say, since then it has become one of my favorite places to eat. My friend has even purchased food from this establishment for family gatherings. I would recommend this place to friends and family. The dining experience is lovely, the prices are reasonable (I can easily find an entree for $15-$17 that can serve me for two meals), the food is tasty and the meat is always tender (I always get the ribs or fried jumbo wings), and they often have (Ive only been on Saturday afternoons/ evenings) the lovely touch of having a musician (i.e. singer/pianist) who takes requests from patrons. AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME PLACE TO EAT! (I have no affiliation with anyone at this establishment and nobody knows of, or has asked for, this review.)

This is the best place for BBQ in this town!!! Everything is homemade, family-style, with incredible flavor and huge portions!!! Take out, eat-in, or catering pickups for big parties. I am a New Orleans Chef. I grew up eating collard green and black eyed peas. These were the best black-eyed peas Ive ever eaten. Collard greens and yams were on point, like my grandma used to make! Sweet cornbread and hush puppies, and they even have beef ribs and brisket. Gotta come back to try that! Their sampler platter was 3 huge ribs, 8 oz of brisjet, and 8 oz of pulled pork, all for $22!!!! Most places charge $10 more and you get half those portions. These guys make all there food with love!!!

The food was horrible, I was told the whiting was fresh but it taste frozen and water log and it had a very strong fishy odor. The potato salad was overly seasoned and very very spicy. The chicken wings taste like they were fried in the same grease as the fish which cause the chicken to have a fishy taste, and the servers were very unfriendly and seem to have an attitude. It was very expensive for the quality of the food and service. This was my first and last experience with Rochester Barbecue and Grill in Lawnside NJ.
