Although the Empanadas are very good, and very reasonable the truck in Port Reading is gone for days at a time. Additionally, the person who runs that truck is impatient and always seems to want to close and leave. Twice when Ive gone for Empanadas he was very brusque, and once he made me wait while a woman who had asked questions and returned to her car had a discussion with the occupant of the car for several moments before returning to the truck. When I tried to place my order for two Empanadas, he very rudely told me he could only serve one person at a time and was waiting for the woman to come back to the window. Once he seemed ticked that I arrived close to his closing time. Although he seems to do a good lunch business when hes there, he has turned me and some family and friends off.

I was so excited to have these, and was referred by a friend to go that they are the best empanada. But they were, in fact, the worst empanadas I had ever had. I ordered a chicken and a pork. I bit into the chicken first, and all I got was fried shell. I looked inside, and I saw a ball of minced meat (which was supposed to be chicken) laying at the bottom of the inside of my empanada. (I thought an empanada was supposed to be FILLED with filing.). A few more hollow-shell bites later and I finally tasted the chicken with it all. It tasted so bad. There was an "off" taste to it. Like a sour, bad taste of fake, unfresh meat. And the pork was awful, as well (although had a tad more filing) It was by far one of the worst things Ive ever eaten.

Seriously? Fake Spanish/Mexican food. Any one of the hole in the wall Mexican restaurants in freehold borough are 100 times better than this fake commercialized garbage. Seriously try the real Mexican restaurants in the town, you will never go back. This guy is really fooling everybody right now. Sad! Again, try the other real places. Better prices and BETTER FOOD, TRUST ME! Also he charges more money for a "crab" empanada and its imitation crab meat! Talk about false advertising and ripping people off! People, dont fall for the hype. He prays on people like you. Good advertising, thats it!

Mike detullio, your review is soaking in ignorance, empanadas arent just specifically Mexican. This restaurant may sell Mexican cuisine in addition to empanadas & pernil, but its not categorized as this authentic Mexican restaurant you were expecting. But go ahead, jump on the petty bandwagon that associates all spanish stuff as being Mexican...Mexican food, Puerto Rican food, whats the difference, eh?

Im Honduran and Puerto Rican, also cook both country cuisines and cultural dishes from sister countrys surrounding the areas, so, when it comes to fried pockets Im a master of flavors and what I had there wasnt exciting or what I was expecting. It wasnt for me and price isnt as Fair as other places that sells empanadas pockets. A good place is El Coqui Puerto Rican restaurant in Philadelphia, so, tasty.

I first noticed the truck on route 516, Old Bridge, NJ. I had two empanadas, and fell in love. I learned of the restaurant at Park Avenue, Freehold, and strongly recommend it. I would like to see an expanded menu, at the restaurant, of more authentic Puerto Rican and Cuban cuisine. Glad to have you in Freehold, and throughout New Jersey. Keep up the great taste, Minuteman!

Had this guys empanadas at the Waretown wine festival last week. Had a pork empanada first. The dough is amazing, light, crispy and not at all greasy. I hate grease. Walked around and sampled more wine but kept thinking about those empanadas so came back an hour later and had a chicken empanada. Equally as good and hit the spot after drinking all that vino!

Ive been here a few times. Its ok. I bit pricey. I liked it better when it first opened. The food taste fresher. I usually get the steak platter. I didnt feel the tostones where fresh, a bit on the greasy side. The beans were bland. Lacking authentic puerto rican flavor.

Had a pork empanada and it was prety good however... that was the obly thing I enjoyed out of my order. The rice was grossly over cooked and sticky while the beans were very watery and bland. Not be be rude but I would never order anything from here besides the empanadas.

Very good food, just wish it was hotter. The only thing that kept me from giving this place five stars was the temperature of food, especially the rice and beans. But the flavors were great and you get your moneys worth.

I stick to my moms, family and girlfriend. The best are home made. Too high price for me I can find better in Perth Amboy at Torres for better price. Good luck to all that continue to buy from this organization.
