The food here is fine, typical Mexican style meals... certainly not reinventing the wheel. However the service leaves much to be desired. Waiting to even be acknowledged by your server during dinner isnt completely out of the question but to wait 5+ minutes starts to push it. Another 5 minutes for water (after asking for it) and Im already sour on the experience. Couple this with the most outrageous menu customizing rules I have ever seen, such as not being able to order chicken without sauce on it or being told a side of guacamole can only be ordered with a burrito (despite this being a menu option otherwise) and it really makes me appreciate the other local restaurants who will accommodate such requests. The food here isnt good enough to compensate for their lack in the other service industry departments, and I see no need to go back when there are equally as good if not better options available.

I visited this location yesterday and really enjoyed the atmosphere. I have visit it one other time to pick up a menu. But yesterday my husband and I decide to give it a try. He was very reluctant and really was not into it. We both shared the Chicken Empanadas and I ordered the beef chimichanga Burrito. I enjoyed everything that I ordered, until this morning and that is where my one star comes in. I was very sick several hours later. It was a very unexpected event, but it had to be due to the food, because once the food left my system, I felt much better. My husband was not sick. I am resting all day today, while trying to recover. Illness from food is awful. I wont be back. I would be to scared to go back. Maybe I should have heeded my husbands warning.

We used to really enjoy this restaurant when it first opened, but recently, my family had the worst experience here. A waiter asked if we wanted beans and rice with our meal, and we asked if it was included, to which the waiter rolled his eyes... and then laughed with the waitresses about it moments later. Was that actually some ridiculous request, please clue me in! I honestly couldnt believe how rude service was being! I will not be back here again, as I have never had problems with service at other establishments like Mambo, which by the way is much more affordable and TASTES BETTER.

Every single time I come here with my wife its been an amazing experience. The food is truly great, the portions are decent, and the folks are some of the nicest people youll ever have table side. Each time we come here were greeted right away, seated promptly, and introduced to our server. Everything weve had on the menu has been really authentic, full of flavor, and decently priced for the quality. Its a toss up between the staff and the food that keeps us coming back but Tacos El Tio is definitely our spot. Try it once and the food and atmosphere will blow you away.

This is our 4th time here. Consistently excellent food. I would be hard pressed to find a better restaurant in the eht area. Im pretty critical with restaurants but this one has it all, EXCELLENT food, attentive and kind wait staff, plenty of seating and equally delicious drinks. I highly suggest the Ranchero chicken, its stuffed with chirizo, cheese and a poblano pepper, then is smothered in a tomato cream sauce. Unbelievable! The steak is seasoned wonderfully and the fajitas smelled so delicious! I absolutely love this place!

Great authentic Mexican cuisine with a large margarita and taco (duh) selection. We came during happy hour, half price appetizers and drink specials. Some places give you smaller portions during these happy hour specials, but the nachos we ordered were huge! My wife and I could finish half of it. We got carne asada and pollo tacos. The tacos authentic Mexican style, just meat, cilantro, and onions. The seasoning was just right and came with a ton beef/chicken. We left full, content, and with leftovers for tomorrow.

Been here a few times and the food is delicious. Service is great and the place has great atmosphere. Waiter said margaritas were on special but we ordered 3 and those 3 came out to 40 dollars like wtf?? I can go to a bar and get a double jack and coke for less!!! I wouldnt mind if they were good or really strong but I had two and didnt even get a buzz from it. I couldnt even taste the liquor. They definitely need to work on their alcoholic beverages and pricing. I dont know if me and my friends will go back.

The food was good but the waitress wasnt not to good she maybe came to the table once and she seemed not to have much experience like we had to help her with cleaning the table off like she stood there until we handed out plate which was weird. Then my nephew and husband and I got bad diarrhea for the food but the food was good. Also when we look up the menu on line there were a lot more to select from then in the restaurant which was disappointing.

So unhappy with the service today. I ordered food to be picked up. I was charged for something I didnt even order. It was a hassle to have it refunded to my card & when i got the food I had ordered in the first place, a half an hour later, the chicken was gray. I was so disgusted I ended up throwing it away. By the way ... I know theres no prices on the take out menu online but a quesadilla is apparently 10 dollars and that, my friend, is a rip-off.

Great food, great drinks, great service. Love the frozen margaritas. The last two times we were there we each had 3 rounds of frozen margaritas and food.. Spent about $60 plus tip just on drinks, I dont mind when they are good. I am not going out trying to get drunk just enjoy food and drink. But, we left without even a little buzz. Are they not putting tequila in the frozen margaritas? I felt cheated. Will give one more try.

I love Mexican food. The environment is very comfortable. Love the ethnic Mexican decor and art. The Latin music is great! They have a nice variety on the menu and its ALL DELICIOUS! The prices range from inexpensive to moderate depending on what kind of meal you prefer but its worth every cent! Perfect ethnic Mexican-makes Taco Bell look silly. Once u eat here u will NEVER eat Taco Bell again, not even for quick timing!

Weve always had a great experience here! Both the food and service. I would recommend the hand crafted margaritas, they are made fresh and wont give your teeth that sour ache afterward. We usually eat at the bar, our waitress Morgan, was very polite and attentive. Cocktails average $8-10 while entrees are about $12 with week day lunch specials. The food was very good, with average portions. We will certainly be back!

I love this place dont get me wrong, but a Mexican place that does not have tamales is not a Mexican place. Might as well be a Taco Bell... but food is good, authenticity is struggling, also moving from Chicago paying per glass of horchata is a stretch, I make this this stuff all the time, no reason it should be paid per glass. Get tamales and I will gladly change from a 2 star to 5.
