We always loved the pizza from Godfathers in East Hanover. That is until now. We ordered pizza for delivery, which is 7 minutes away from the restaurant. We were told 30 minutes for delivery. This is after it took the young lady that answered the phone 10 minutes to understand what I was ordering, not complicated one plain pie and an additional 1/2 pie with veggie. She kept repeating the order incorrectly until finally I told her I want 12 pieces of pizza, eight of which were plain and 4 which had veggie. 2.15 HOURS later and two phone calls, which the manager then denied that we were told 30 minutes, our pizzas arrived. They were ice cold and flavorless. AND, they delivered and charged for two pies not the 1 1/2 we ordered. The family was so fed up no one ate except for a couple of bites, which was no loss as the pizza was awful. I dont know what happened to them but save yourself the aggravation and order from one of the several other options in the vicinity for good pizza. Anyone can have a bad night but this was above and beyond unacceptable!

I was there tonight. It wasnt crowded as it was around 5 PM. The hostess seated me at the bar, as I requested and gave me a large menu. After about 10 minutes, the manager (?) came over to talk to the pizza chef/raw bar guy, who is working in front of where Im sitting, and I asked him, "Who do I place my order with"; he indicated that the waitress would be right over (he pointed her out). Now 2 couples come in and sit at the 2 tables behind me and one of them asks to borrow my Happy Hour Menu, sure, no problem. A few more minutes go by and the waitress finally comes over, waits on the 2 tables behind me, then blows by me and goes back to two other patrons at the bar to my left and starts chatting with them. At this point, Ive had it. As Im leaving, another waitress came up to me to see if I wanted a drink, but no thanks. Wont be back. As Ive read on here, its supposed to be overrated and overpriced, well you can add "under serviced" to that. The hostess was great, but thats all the good I can say about this place.

Got the meatball sub because I wasnt feeling pizza. The meatball sub sucked; there was way too many meatballs for the bread, and it did not have any cheese. Literally mediocre meatballs and tomato sauce on a flimsy roll. Also not sure if the price I paid was not the one advertised on the menu -- paid around 9.30 and the price on the menu was around 7. I did see, however, thai sweet and sour chicken on a pizza which looked good but was too full to try it. Just get pizza here and youll probably be fine. I had a slice of margarita pizza and it was alright. I liked the crispy and thin crust -- the kind that makes a cracking noise when you bite into the pizza. Real tomato sauce and mozzarella and spices on the pizza, but overall it was still alright.

I went for my birthday and had an incredibly horrible experience. The food was expensive, service was horrible, the waitress didnt know the specials, forgot to put our appetizer order in and served, kids first. Normally I wouldnt care, about the kids being served first, but It took 1/2 hour of waiting in a very dark, very noisy setting for our food and when we we finally got our food, the kids were done and had to sit and watch us eat our meal. The calamari was like rubber, and since the kids were already done they wanted to eat everything off of our plates, because they had nothing else to do... horrible experience. I wanted to get out of there so bad, I left 1/2 of glass of wine...I didnt care...Just Get Me Out!!!Never again :-(

Always great pizza, and calamari (I get it with the savoy sauce on the side)! I travel past many other pizzarias to get there for their excellent choice of food. One time I had a problem with the amount of toppings and they more than made it up to me! Jimmy handled my complaint with courtesy and respect (thank you Jimmy). This speaks loudly for this establishment which not only offers great cuisine but makes sure every customer is satisfied. There is also a bar and grill connected to the pizzaria which has a good atmosphere and night scene. You will be a return customer once you try out The Godfather!! Buon appetit! -Greg Ellis

I have been waiting about 40 minutes for a personal pan in which had to be made twice because it was messed up the first time. No one apologizes, in fact became very dismissive as if it was no big deal. The prices are ridiculously high. This is my first time here and I thought if the food was good maybe I would try again. But after them being so laxed about my order, I rather not. They need customer courtesy training and people who are able to properly take orders. Btw me waiting for their mess up caused my other food to be cold. Smh sad and ridiculous. Never again

I heard nothing but good things about this place through the grapevine and having family in Essex county. Coming from out of state it was definitely the best Italian food Ive ever had, I had the Chicken Marsala and Tiramisu for dessert, it was delicious. It makes sense why theyve been open since 1975. My only suggestion is if you want a quieter atmosphere go a little later in the night. I definitely will be back!!!

Godfather has good pizza and all but they are really a ripoff for the most part with their prices and constantly inflate delivery prices. The worst part is that they are complete JERKS in person who act as if your bothering them, many were unhelpful and crude. If you want tasty pizza they have good pizza, but this place really is full of rude obnoxious workers and overpriced food.

Ived lived in East Hanover for a few years now and I love this place! Originally only ordered pizzas but recently started trying the rest of the menu. Everything at Godfathers is excellent, pastas, soups, salads, you name it and Ive had it. The place can get crowded during peak hours, but service is always pretty quick.

My experience is in the bar and restaurant. Do not order cocktail! Like cosmopolitant, they give you just lemon with water. We complained and they gave us even worse, we left it without drinking. Not good experience. The waitress was good though. Food was unsatisfactory. 1st day customer, won't be back!

I always feel like the service here is doing me a favor by taking my order, getting me my food, etc. Not a friendly place, they need some serious customer service training. Also it is quite expensive as far as pizzerias go.

Came in for lunch after a friend recommended it to me, got 2 penne vodka slices and a chicken savoy for $10 which is not bad at all for specialty slices. Best of all I was out in less than 10 minutes. Pizza was great!

Decent place if they can cut the price down a notch. For a serve yourself place, 15-20 dollars per person seems a tad bit higher. Food is good however and you get a dose of Italian macho attitude for free.
