Soweit, so gut. Einiges hatte geschmeckt, einiges weniger. Leider.

Youre at the Jersey Shore...Not Memphis, StLouis, or Appalachia, or Texas/NM. Dont expect that type of bbq. That being said, we are never disappointed with the food at JSBBQ. Prices: Reasonable for the portion sizes. (Go Hungry) Great selection of beers and wines across the parking lot. (BYOB) We usually go in, order, go grab our drinks, and the food is ready by the time we get back. Cant beat that. Food: Sliced Brisket was tender, moist and tasty. Im not one for sauces, but, I tried a few of the varieties they offer and liked them. Mostly tomato and vinegar based, but, plenty of other offerings for those that arent into that.... Ribs were great. (dry rib style.) Burnt ends were awesome. Perfect amount of fatty/smokey/meaty goodness. (Great on a sammich) Chicken was moist and tasty. Sides were great. Had the slaw, ranch beans (awesome) my wife never eats skin-on-fries and she loves these. Tried the pork belly appetizer, as well. Not the best Ive ever had....not the worst. Just what the doctor ordered, though, if the previous night was a rough one. Apparently, they cater as well. Which is nice if youd prefer your own backyard as opposed to the town. Take out portions are the same as sit-in. (Youd be surprised..... No skimping here) Seating: Plenty. Can usually find a seat or a place at the "bar." Not a large place but cozy and cool stuff to look at. Staff are your typical younger kids. Perfect? No. But they get the job done, keep an eye to your table, and are friendly as can be. I appreciated the Johnny Cash jamming away while I was eating. There arent too many bbq joints in the area anymore. If you are in the mood......I dont think youd be disappointed giving this place a shot.

I dont know who wrote favorable reviews for JSBBQ, but I suspect that they are not all authentic. This is my experience with JSBBQ. My wife and I sat down at 2:00 P.M. Place was nearly empty, so we figured wed be served quickly and we could get to our destination in short order. A heavily tattooed waitress took our order. Although a little pricy, I ordered the Beef Brisket; my wife ordered a Pulled Chicken Sandwich. We opened the paper napkin which held the eating utensils. The knife and fork were filthy dirty and encrusted with residue. Looking about, the place didnt look all that clean either. One-half hour later, still no food was forthcoming and there was no explanation from the tattooed lady. When I finally confronted her about why it was taking so long to get a couple of simple sandwiches, she said it was almost ready, that it would be out very shortly. At 2:45 P.M., 45 minutes after placing our order, I again asked whats the holdup. She looked at me with an attitude of contempt and said that they were preparing catering orders, as though that took priority over an in-house customer. At that point we walked out. I cant say if the food is bad or good, but if its commensurate with the filth and poor service we experienced, I dont really care to know.

For 55$ of food I was very disappointed with the portions. I got the trifecta. Three meats two sides. That included 2 slices of brisket and 4 ribs. My sides were two spoonfulls of macncheese along with maybe 4 spoonfuls of Coleslaw. Not only did I wait forever for a pick up which hey if you want good hot freash food it takes a while understandable but my food was room Temperature at best. Last but not least i found a long black hair in my mac and cheese. I work in the food industry and understand things happen so I called. I was told sorry about that hopefully next time I have a better experience it was pretty busy today with the parade. Id also like to add I have never given a bad review to any resturants. The lack of care that I was an upset customer and probabaly figured oh no big deal probably someone not from around here. Wrong I work in town and have since before your establishment was even in belmar. Ill never recommend your buisness. Thank you and good day

Literally the worst barbecue I have ever had. I ate here a few years ago and hated it, but decided to try it one more time. I cannot believe that 28 people gave it good reviews. I have had barbecue all over the country and this was by far the worst. Their sauce tastes like tomato sauce. The pulled chicken was very dry. Baby back ribs were chewy. Pulled pork was chewy. Even the sweet potato fries were just blah. The only thing that was good was the corn bread. This is not real barbecue people! If you want genuine barbecue, go to Local Smoke where they have actually won real barbecue competitions. I literally feel nauseous as I am typing this from eating this food. Gross.

i have been going here for a few years now. in the beginning the food was on point. juicy meat cooked right. but the last couple of years and just this past weekend my family and i had brisket that was cut way too thick and dry and without any taste to speak of. just beef with some burnt ends. the appetizers still rock but the main courses are adequate at best... p.s. the help is indifferent and spend more time talking among themselves and with "friends" than looking after customers... the fine point of it this bbq joint is mailing it in... just my opinion but i lived in Texas for 2 years and my son lives in Shreveport la so i think i know good BBQ brisket ....
