So, after settling into our room at Harrahs, we headed up to the 18th floor for supper at "Harrahs Forest Buffet." The Forest Buffet actually did not open until 5:00PM, so I thought we would "beat the crowd" by arriving before they opened. "Boy was I in for a shock!" We arrived several minutes early and I thought we would "undoubtedly be one of the first people in line..." "WRONG!" Instead, I was greeted with roughly 50 other guests who most likely assumed the same thing I did! "I guess gamblers get hungry too!" This being a "Thursday night, the adult fare was $21.95 per person." Not bad for an all-you-can-eat place. Had this been a Friday night, the price would have been, I think between $31.00 - $35.00 per person, but "seafood" was added onto their menu, which we were expecting. After "snaking our way through the line, which reminded me of the lines at Disneyland, I paid for our rightful place in this "smorgasbord of a restaurant!" I asked, and we were seated with a window view of Lake Tahoe and the California side. After being seated, our waiter informed us that they were also serving "sushi," which perked our immediate attention! My son and I wasted no time in getting ourselves plates and made a "bee-line" towards the sushi station. To our disenchantment, we arrived at the "Sushi Station," only to see that the sushi was only the "hand rolled types and contained no "raw fish" that sushi is famous for!" Instead, there was avocado, cream cheese, and other "cooked" ingredients, which did not appear appetizing! We did sample a couple of pieces, which wasnt all that terrific. They also had a "Chinese Food Station" but that to was a disappointment. They served chow mein, which tasted nothing like it with "spaghetti" sized noodles and mixed veggies. Their attempt at "sweet & sour pork" was also a disappointment with the taste coming nowhere near the flavor of this famous dish. The "western style" dishes were fine but anything "Asian" was a disappointment, but then again, it was "a buffet!" We filled our plates with other "traditional" food fare such as, ham, pizza, mac and cheese, prime ribs, etc. Their prime rib was very tender and not over cooked as I have experienced at other restaurants ("Black Bear Diner"). They also had plenty of condiments to go along with your prime rib meal. Dont get me wrong, the food was very fresh because there was so many hungry people, nothing lasted that long. Everything we placed on our plate was enjoyable and we went up several times. Not to say I am a "pig" when it comes to eating but it is an "all you can eat restaurant." The salad was fresh and crisp, but then again, "how the hell can you screw up salad?!" After making several trips up, I noticed their "Dessert" section, which was across from the main food line. Anyone who loves desserts would consider themselves in heaven at their enormous assortment. From pies of all different flavors, to cakes, pudding, and French éclairs, there was something for everyone. "Yes, I unquestionably indulged in all the desserts and wasnt embarrassed at going back for seconds or thirds......" Our waiter or server was very attentive and provided us with anything we wanted in the way of beverages and other condiments. I made sure he was compensated at the end of our meal. Overall, I was somewhat dissatisfied with this "dining experience," mainly because we thought there would be "seafood" involved, but the meal was satisfying and worth the price of admissions. After out meal we "wobbled" back to our room to rest before going down stairs to gamble.

Wow, what a view, probably the best dining view in the area. Sunset this place is popping. No question as to why a buffet would be on the 13th floor. I’ve become accustomed to eating well, eating local and eating a buffet when I travel. I have no idea why, but I try and hit each of those categories up. We attack the crab legs (both snow and Dungeness). Of course my usual butter in a soup bowl technique and dual plate for shells. My usual oyster ring was skipped because of the dozens on ice, not a one was fresh, all dried and very sad to see. I love the contrast between the sweet and brinier legs. The prime rib was dry and overcooked. We all got some when we saw someone get a pretty pink cut, but all of ours were dry and brown, could not be saved with jous. If this was their seafood night I’m not sure I want to come back for their steak night. Mac & cheese was rich, but not in that super good way, the bread was boring, sushi was bland. All in all the food was worth about half the price and you may as well only come for desserts (crepe bar) and crab legs and only if you can put away 6-7 cluster because otherwise it’s hard to justify Parties of 8 or more have a mandatory gratuity of 18% which to me seems slightly less warranted than most since it’s a buffet. Just keep the drinks coming and clear our plates. Is that really worth $7. With my party of 8 we got plenty of seating (12 person table in the corner). Our price per head was $42+ on a $35 buffet. I will not be returning.

They rely on their beautiful views, this place is way over priced and provide 1 star service and quality with a 5 star attitude. Had steak and seafood dinner for my Birthday (long anticipated vacation to beautiful Lake Tahoe) told the whole family this is where I wanted to eat. Crab way over cooked and mushy, steak way under cooked nothing but fat (rare and bloody) but covered in sauce so it looked cooked, clam chowder worse then just opening a can and pouring it into a pot, no flavor. Even the deserts were stale and dried out. In fact I cant think of a single item I got that gave me the impression of quality. Wouldnt have cared about the price if I didnt feel I could have eaten better at any hospital or mall food court! Super disappointed in he association with Harrahs. Avoid this place if you can, maybe it will force improvement and not simply relying on their location and views.

My Husband and I went to the buffet for breakfast. The price was expensive for the food we received. The selection was abundant but not suitable for those who are on a special food plan. The eggs were alright, sausage dry, ham not moist, the oatmeal was watery and not as we get at other restaurants and the fruit wasnt fresh. The watermelon over ripe and mushy. The melons had rind on them and not sweet. The coffee was tasteless and weak. We will not be attending this restaurant again. Casche Creek down south has better quality of food for the same price and we are satisfy going there. Also other casinos we have been at down south too have better buffet restaurants.

When we ate at Harrahs buffet I was expecting more. After waiting 45 minutes waiting in line. We were seated just before sunset with a great view from the 15th or whatever floor. Service if you consider it service, the clearing of plates and refilling drinks was slow. As far as the food goes there were plenty of options but the quality of food pretty much sucked. I tried a variety of foods and almost every plate was cleared away half eaten. The sushi was absolutely awful. The desserts even sucked, how does one screw up dessert? Heck they could by frozen cheesecakes from Costco and put them out and been better. The only saving grace of the entire meal was the crepes.
