We went to this restaurant because of the review. The food is fresh and taste good. However, their service leave us quite disappointed experience. It is our first time there, and my wife want to have sashimi. Even though we noticed that almost in all tables there is no sashimi but we still asked. The waitress clearly shown a weird face and then smile very happily. She said they have very very good sashima, but it cost at least $45. (also she emphasis we can order more but more expensive). We are pretty hungry at that time and we want some romantic dinner. So we accepted. After a few minute, they gave us a small bowl, with a few slice of fishes on the bottom. I talked to the waitress immediately to protest. Apparently they were treating us like stupid people who never had Japanese food before. The young lady said their sashima are the very fresh food, and it very costly. However, there is nothing special, salmon, tuna, yellowtail, roe, common everywhere. At the end, she said she will generously offer us a bowl of rice and this shows in the bill $3.00. At the end, we left the place with $70 but almost empty stomachs. So to remember, if you go to this place, never order sashimi or anything doesnt list on their menu. If so, they will cheat you like fool and ruin your dinners.

A really wonderful experience. If there is any negative about this place (and it is pretty minor), it is the location. Situated in an older strip mall, in not really the best location, it does not look like much from the outside. Once inside, while extremely small, the restaurant exudes character and charm. We felt like we were in some quaint Japanese restaurant right of of a movie. The food..... Well, we did the tasting menu for $75, and I must say it was one of the best tasting experiences we have had, and we have had a lot. Each course with simply fabulous. While some of the courses were enjoyed more than others, we liked them all, and there is nothing I would not have ordered ala carte. We chatted with several other guests, as tables are so close, and all their food looked spectacular as well, and everyone seemed to love everything. Our server could have have been better. He was a touch slow, but that kind of added to the charm, as he did have quite a few tables. He took his time with each table, and we appreciated him explaining all the dishes, in great detail. I would highly recommend anyone who is a foodie, or looking for a foodie experience, to experience Raku.

Gave it 2 tries and I dont think 3rd time is the charm. First time we went they were closed on Sunday. What restaurant is closed on a Sunday?? A week later we tried it again. it was 20 mins passed 5pm and they were open. Turns out they dont open till 5pm. We walked in and the host yelled at us across the room stating that they were not open. We told them its 20 to 30 mins past 5pm and the sign on the window stated open. There was no one there, it was deader than a door knob and the host still did not sat us down. They disappeared in the back and came out 5 mins later. She asked if we had reservations and we did not. She told us they are booked till 8:30 and could not sit us down. Remind you the place there was not a soul there and the parking lot was empty. Clearly they were SOO busy at 5:30pm. We are never going there again. They lost our business because they can not sit for 2 people in an empty restaurant. We been to nicer and pricier places than this and the people are a WHOLE lot nicer than this dump. I dont care if it had the world best food, its run by snobby a holes.

This place is so ridiculously good that you will stumble out with your head spinning even if you didnt have any sake. If you are a newcomer, I recommend getting the menu option where they bring out several of their specialties in succession. There are two different price options for this depending on how premium you want to go. At the more expensive option, there will typically be top cuts of meat, foie gras, etc. However, the server will ask you if there is anything you cant or dont eat, so dont be afraid to exempt items. As the food comes out, you will be introduced to what it is, and how the chef recommends it be served. They have a variety of sauces and ways to eat each dish. I found the servers to be knowledgeable and friendly. It can get a bit pricey here but this is an upscale restaurant and the fixed menu is a good way to control your costs. However, if you are the kind of person who sweats over $5-$10, this probably isnt the place for you.

Located in the back corner of the greatest little strip mall in Vegas. Between, Monta, Kabuto, and Raku, you cover all the best of Japanese dining. This place doesnt need my review, but a friend or two may find it useful. As many have said, going for the omakase is certainly the best option the first meal here. We had reservations first thing as they opened. We were taken into the pretty small front dining room. Then, we were taken into a second smaller dining room with two tables for 4-6 each and a couple small private seating areas. It was far more intimate. Every course was excellent. The house made tofu stood out. So did the blue fin tuna sashimi. It was tough. I dont think restaurants should be serving it. OTOH, this was the first time Id had enough in one sitting to understand what makes it different than other tuna. The service was impeccable. The food near perfect. The price fair. Its no wonder the reservation system is tough.

With all of the options in Las Vegas we chose this one because of its stellar reputation and were not disappointed. When we arrived we found they had lost our reservation, but we waited at the bar a short time till a small room became available. This is a very small place so I would think reservations are a must. The food was nothing short of incredible, beautifully presented. We enjoyed the tofu 2 ways and even though I am not a huge tofu fan this was delicious. The Miso soup was as well. We wandered our way through 4 or 5 more courses, and were surprised that it was so reasonable. Well worth the $10 cab ride from the Strip to get here. Make sure you call a cab well in advance of wanting to go back because it takes awhile for them to get here. I hope I have the chance to go back to this one!

Instead of going clubbing like everyone else that is visiting Vegas, we went against the norm and had dinner at RAKU. An extremely LATE dinner ..11:30pm late! The food and the decor were superb, it made everyones mouth watered and even the harshest critique of the bunch had a scrumptious meal. Everyones favorite was the Fried chicken, it was wrapped up with crispy chicken and than a nice juicy inside. I personally got pretty buzz from the two bottles of nagari and sake that I almost forgot all the different yummy treats we had. Restroom was beautiful, it was tiny but they manage to make it look like a romantic, enchanted forest with strategic rose pedals placed perfectly on the floor.
