Tonight a group of friends and myself went to celebrate my girlfriends birthday. It seemed a little busy but it happens with the restraint business. When our waiter arrived he was very friendly and started taking our drink orders (since it was about 10mins) A little asian lady whom i assume was a manager came over and started yelling at him for taking our drink orders. Personally I thought that was very rude, and it only got worse as the night when on. My review is on how poorly they treated this server in front of customers. Later we had a cake and needed a knife to cut it. I waiter went and got us a knife so we could cut the cake. Across the restaurant i could see and watch as a cook came out and yelled at him for giving us the knife to cut the cake. I understand there are rules, but customer service comes first. Our waiter (the only white male there) was fantastic! The other staff ruined the evening, which is sad because normally they are great. As a result of the poor staff and how they handle things with other team members who are taking care of the customers who come there, we (all 10 of our group that ate there tonight) will not be returning to the meridian location. I have no problem deterring people away from the awful staff there. Customer service is key our waiter knew the meaning of that. I would give him 10 stars if i could. The rest was disgusting. You have lost a few customers and I will be telling everyone to avoid this location and go to the vista one instead.

Typically this place is pretty good. However, the last time we went everything was just bad, from food to the service. The food was all very dry (I had the fried rice, which is typically epic, and my husband had a noodle dish), all of the meet was try, the noodles and rice were bad and not seasoned or cooked properly. One of the staff eventually came around and asked how it was -- we were honest, and told him that it wasnt any good, and that it usually was, and expressed our disappointment. We did not even so much as get an apology, or an offer to fix or replace it (which we wouldnt have taken -- we never do, we just want folks to acknowledge a problem so the kitchen can fix it). That in and of itself was the most disappointing thing. When youre working in the service industry, you have to at least try to make your customers happy! This was a couple months ago, and we havent returned since. Perhaps it was a one-off thing and everything is great now. We havent even wanted to think about going back, though, since our overall experience was so poor the last time.

Been here many times and typically, the food and service are good, however I recently tried a chicken dish that was overly tough... it had clearly been chicken that was cooked and then reheated. I was asked by both my server and another employee (or manager?) how my meal was and I very politely told them both that the dish was awful (it had missed in other areas as well). My real complaint is that neither employee expressed any kind of sympathy that the meal was bad nor really even acknowledged me. They just gave me a blank look and blinked once or twice before walking off. Why ask if you dont want to hear the answer? Terribly upset with the service, but the food is usually decent and you can take it to go if you like. One final comment: the chicken tempura should be avoided -- their vegetable tempura is great, but they prepare the chicken tempura very oddly.

Avoid this place!!! I went in for the first time for a to-go order and they handed me a paper menu. They had hundreds of them copied and displayed. I was happy with variety and prices and ordered two items. I went to sign the credit card statement and realized that the total was higher than expected. I asked to see the breakdown receipt (that they should have showed me anyway) and realized that the prices were different and started waving around the hardbook menu. I asked if I could just pay what was in the menu that they provided me and they said NO. I reminded them that it is illegal to bait and switch, but no budge. I reminded them that I dont want to report them, but nothing. I walked out after tearing up the receipt.

The sushi was good but service was terrible . I sat at my table for 15 minutes before I was able to order. There couldve been more than six people in the whole restaurant. And you are about twice as many employees there. I see no reason for that long of a wait is far as the service is concerned now for the food it was well-prepared and tasted great th I see no reason for that long of a wait as far as the service is concerned now for the food it was well-prepared and tasted great the service may have deterred me from ever going there again though . The service may have changed my mind about ever returning there.

The food may be fine, but I have never been treated this badly. A good friend gave us a $50 gift card here. We used it recently for my birthday - only to be told that it only had $7 remaining on it. After verification from my friend that she immediately gave me the card, and knowing that the gift card has NOT been used, they steadfastly refused to acknowledge that the fault might possible be theirs. So take your $43 that you ripped off Sakanas. We will not be coming back and will take every opportunity to let others know not to frequent your establishment.

Decent food, modest prices, nothing struck me as above and beyond. The Japanese grill chefs arent a Benihana quality, but were still fun. Its kind of what you expect for a suburban town in Idaho like Meridian. Our server was Chinese and our chef was Vietnamese but I bet 99 percent of the people who come in dont know that or even care to find out. The only reason that I would go bask is that its close to my house and I probably wont be terribly disappointed. It is a tad loud, but its a Japanese steakhouse... Theyre all loud. Its part of the experience.

I like it. I definitely dont mind this location. The food is good and service is on par. Location of the restaurant is nice. Its in the business district right off overland and eagle. This is not my first time to this location and I will probably be back. I do dock 1 star because of the price. Its just a little over what Im comfortable with. If I had to recommend I would suggest this location for sushi and Japanese. My favorite sushi restaurant in the treasure valley is down eagle off of Chinden. More times than not I will go there than here.

My wife is the sushi person and she said the sushi was ok. We didnt come on the $1 sushi day though so make sure you check for that before you come for it to be worth it. The Hibachi was pretty good, I had the Prime Rib one and I thought it was a little under priced at first but for prime rib it wasnt that great. Its more like normal steak but it was still good just not prime rib good. If you come on the cheap sushi day 4 stars otherwise its really only 3 stars.
