Big fat Smokey ribs served downhome style with classic picnic sides & juicy BBQ sauces. About the visit: Located off the East end of Benson & the North side of Radial...right next to a park. The building is set-back & looks historical, matching old Benson. Inside was clean & had more room to eat than expected. The Deco was cute & campy like if you dropped in to get BBQ on a fishing trip up North. We were there before & thru dinner rush on hump day. The take-out in this place is enormous. That being said I was happy we came early...because everyone stands in line & orders up front & its all "Buisness". The staff are nice but clearly it helps to grab a menu ahead of ordering & know what you are going to order (for your sake & theirs). We shared a Full Slab Rib Dinner that comes with 2 sides, cornbread & chips for 50cnts xtra. Also we ordered 2 more sides & fountain drinks. They also have bottles. The (Baby back) pork ribs were very thick (like beef), dry & Smokey with a crisp exterior & very chewy to the bone. It works well because you can have as much BBQ sauce (serve yourself) as you want. All were Very Good! I preferred the mild (thick & bold) with the sweet (light with honey). The green beans were like Del Monte...but I liked them. The baked beans were really delightful with baked apples & a lighter sauce which tasted really fresh. A drunken bean Id say. My spouse said the potato salad was OK but the coleslaw was fantastic with mustard & celery seed. The chips are fun salty bites between eating everything. Ribs & sides were served Hot which we appreciate! The cakey warm cornbread is wonderful...but comes individually in baggies & is tiny. We ordered more, but it was forgotten & didnt want to hold them up. When we saw how it was served we got the impression they dont make enough because let me tell you...It was tasty. Also they give you packets of 100% honey...that is a bonus! Overall...we will come back to try sandwiches. Those looked great too. These ribs you have to try. They are "Campfire" tasting Smokey ribs...lots of meat. Dry. But can be loaded with very tasty sauces!!! A crowd pleaser Obviously.

I have eaten here several times before but the experience I had today was the worst. My order was made by a friendly gentleman and then was put in a bag by a lady with horrible customer service to someone else. I let her know that, that was mine and that is when her attitude started! She asked me what kind of chips I wanted and I told her BBQ and she continued to put plain in the bag once I corrected her she got another attitude and slammed the chips in the bag. She then totaled my food up and told me the total. I proceeded to hand her my debit card and she asked for my ID, I didnt have my ID because I just ran there real quick on my lunch break. Once she found out that I didnt have my ID she was annoyed and said that I have to see your ID to swipe the card and I told her well I dont have it and told her that I couldnt buy it then. But my son was there so I asked him and he purchased my food for me. She said I had an attitude because I had to show my ID, if I had an attitude because I had to show my ID I wouldnt of had my son buy my lunch. I really enjoy the BBQ brisket but if your customer service is horrible I wont eat there anymore. Maybe she was having a bad day or doesnt like to mess up, like she had did several times while I was there. I dont know what her issue was but my experience was horrible and I will NEVER eat there again because of it!

First thing, I am comparing to Swine Dining in Bellevue because the prices are similar and its my favorite local BBQ location. The pork seemed a bit fattier at Hartland, but still tasted good, and their sauces are good. The potato salad was also pretty good. The cornbread, while tasty, was more corn cake than bread. Wasnt ready for that. But why so few stars? Everyone on here seems to love Hartlands brisket, but I guess I wasnt allowed to try it the day we went. I ordered a brisket sandwich and a pulled pork sandwich. She called on the cook for 2 pork sandwiches. I corected her and she yelled to him to change it to a brisket and a pork. We STILL got 2 pork sandwiches. I didnt feel like talking to these people any more, as they apparently cant get my order right when I say it twice. So I went with it, ate my pork sandwich and decided I just will make the drive to Bellevue for better food, an amazingly friendly family atmosphere, and in 5 years, Ive NEVER gotten a wrong order there, nor have I had to repeat my order(and still get it wrong...).

When I travel I eat BBQ whenever I can. I try to check out the best places in each city I visit. Today I got to try a slab, beans and slaw at Hartland BBQ. The ribs are served dry, which I like. They have three sauces, the sweet, the mild, and the hot. The sweet is weak, but I did take a few bites with it on the ribs just to mix it up. Its okay. I liked the mild most. Its VERY mild, but has a good flavor, especially when on the ribs or in the beans or slaw. The hot isnt too hot. I could handle it, and I cant take the heat mostly. The ribs were good. They are a little smaller than some places, but then again, I believe they are baby back. So for baby back, they are quite big I would say. Lastly, the beans and coleslaw were phenomenal. Well, as good as beans and slaw as Ive ever had, especially with the mild sauce mixed in. I wouldnt come here just for the beans and slaw, but Id make sure I got them when I ordered again. I really liked it and Ill eat here again most definitely.

I originally gave 1 star because I placed an order the day after Thanksgiving, ribs werent cooked all the way and risket looked like chopped slop. Very disappointed... last order was on piont but this time it was terrible. I called the manager to voice my disappointment, she tried to assure me that smoked ribs look like that, as if I cant tell the difference between smoked and not fully cooked. Upset already, I wasnt about to be patronized. I simple told her I know the difference and that they lost my business. To my surprise, the next morning I had a voice message from the manager, seems she had a change of heart and wanted to make it right. I appreciate her apology and accepted her offer to replace my order. The new order was perfect. I gave 4 stars because it shouldnt take all night for a manager to realize she needs to do the right thing.

I had a slab of ribs. They werent bad but a bit tough. They dont remove the membrane from the back so it stuck to the meat and sounded like paper as I tore them apart. It doesnt look like they apply any sauce or rubs while cooking, which would be nice. You just get the dry meat and your choice of three sauces. I tried the sweet, which was pretty good. There was plenty of meat on the ribs and the smoke taste was just about right. The baked beans were nasty but the corn bread and cole slaw were great. I wanted to try the creamy cucumbers. It is better than Red Zone and Famous Daves but Im still looking for something better in Omaha. It would be sad if the best ribs in town were at Texas Roadhouse. I will be going back to try some other menu items.
