The best thing The Crossing has going for itself is its location and ambiance. Everything else is just average at best. The menu is simple, which is fine. Except that its also boring. Typical stuff: buffalo chicken sandwich, burgers, etc. I ordered a burger and waited 30 minutes until it arrived at my table. And this was a Saturday night when it wasnt even that crowded. Cmon! I will say that the burger was actually pretty good. However the guests I was dining with seemed less impressed with their entrees. I played it safe with a burger because its hard to screw that up, and to their credit they didnt, but still it was nothing special. It wasnt up to par with a burger you might get from the Royale or the bleeding deacon, but still, it was good. Service. Our waitress was nice and probably not to blame for the overall bad service. As i said earlier, we waited at least a half hour for our food to arrive. It may have even been longer. The table we were seated at was dirty and we had to bus it ourselves! We dined outside, which was lovely at first until it got dark. And boy did it get dark. Anyone ever thought about lights? We noticed there were xmas lights strung through the trees but according to the waiting staff these no longer worked. Great. So we sat in darkness. There was a fire pit out there which would have been great in theory. Instead, the staff seemed to really struggle with getting it going. Was their wood damp? Who knows...All i know is they kept dousing it in lighter fluid and filling the air with fumes. Oh, I must give The Crossing credit for one thing. They had complementary blankets available to anyone who needed one. They were comfy and kinda fun. Thank you for those! Moving on...the booze. Total bummer. The beer selection was somewhere between slightly below average and downright below average. The wine selection was worse,. They did pour a generous glass, but there was nothing to get excited about on the menu. They basically had one of everything. One cab, one chardonnay, one pinot grigio, etc. Would I go here again? Maybe not. I live in new town so I dont have many options, but even though Padavans is nothing to write home about, they at least provide better service and their food is just as good without being pretentious or over priced. I hate to be so harsh, but the Crossing just fails on so many levels. I would love for them to succeed as new town could really use a half way decent restaurant. But as it stands, The Crossing deserves to be crossed out.

Service was pretty top-notch. (I think she said her name was Morgan. Nice job, Morgan!) Food was pretty good. Half cajun, half other, which works for me. Jambalaya had slightly too much tomato for us, but the flavor was great. My daily special Lou burger. I think they should add that to the permanent menu. The meat and BBQ sauce flavor was perfect. Fries (potato wedges) are way better than average. Good drinks too. They had live music on a Sunday afternoon too. Good band. Oh and I have to admit, the name is pretty clever, as its on Rue Royale. Im still not the biggest fan of New Stepford Town, but I would definitely come back to this place.

Our meal was disappointing at best. We had the buffalo chicken dip and the waitress said if we needed more pita chips just to ask, so we did and she charged us $6 without ever communicating to us that it would be an extra charge. My husband ordered a Shrimp Po Boy that was basically breading and bun, very little shrimp. We will not go back and we regret that we didnt complain at the time. Dont waste your time or money eating here.

Liz at the bar is a friend of mine. She gets me my drinks for full price. Ha! Get it? Piano Man? Anyway, this place is great and worth a drive to New Town. Im a bit of a wine snob and they have a good wine list for not being a Wine Bar. The food is great. And Liz at the bar is awesome as are all the bartenders!

Service was excellent. The mushroom swiss burger a perfect mid rare & tasty. Soy hummus was sweet, delicious. Unfortunately, jambalaya was dry with a powdery cayenne spike... obviously a quick prep. It was short on meat too, although the overall flavor was good.

Love the food, atmosphere, and service. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for something new to try. I love the burgers, but you really cant go wrong with anything. The patio is a great place to watch a game when the weather is nice!

Nice atmosphere. We hit the second anniversary celebration with a live band. It wasnt the best time to see what it really is like.
