This was our favorite eating place until today. Today our waitress refused to change the TV so we got to watch some nasty looking woman cooking some nasty looking food while attempting to enjoy the fine food served to us. When I asked the woman I took to be the manager why they had changed the TV station a short woman waitress informed me that she didt like watching news all day and the next time I came in, she would change it to cartoons. I politely informed her she would not have to worry about that since this was the last time she would see me in the Springfield Cafe. The manager woman told me the night shift had changed the channel on the TV and she had decided not to change it back. I guess I am too old school for this place. I am used to the customer being the one that matters. I guess they wont miss me since we only went here once or twice a week. I suspect I just met three "nasty women", I am not impressed.

Homemade Country Style Food Just Like Grandma Used To Make The food has almost always been amazing. The only dish that my family has gotten that hasnt was the pot roast. It was bland for some reason. I would highly recommend their chicken fried chicken. When we go during the day the waitresses are super friendly and just amazing. At night I wish I could say the same. But weve only been a handful of times in the evening. Mayhaps the waitresses had just had terrible days or family emergencies happen or something? Im trying not to judge their lives or a book by its cover. Maybe we just came on particularly bad evenings when they were experiencing staffing issues. I dont know. But over all its a great family restaurant with down to earth home cooked meals just like mom or grandma used to make. They even have a modern rewards system that is easy to sign up for. Oh and their rolls are simply to die for.

I used to love to go there when it was Ziggys Cafe. Since they changed their name their service has gone down hill and the food is either hit or miss. Last time I was there I waited 1/2 hour for a cup of coffee and when the waitress came by was frustrated as I was on the phone with a Doctor and could not hang up. Needless to say that people that came long after I came in were taken care of and fed long before I even got a menue. This has happened on a number of occations and I was bragging to my Sister what a great place it was to eat. I ordered liver and onions and told the waitress that I did not want it over cooked. My Sister ordered a dish that was un recognizable. I asked for my meal to be returned my Sister said she was no longer hungry. so we payed for my ice tea and left. This is not the first time but it will be last time I will visit this establismrnt

Usually I would rate this restaurant at 5 stars, however today I would have rated it at 0- so I cut the difference. First of all Linda our waitress is top notch! Zero complaints about her. The daytime manager- an older lady I recognize as a former waitress- needs to watch her mouth. She could clearly be heard screaming and cursing in the kitchen as well as talking about customers. Then when my order was incorrect she decided to scream about that in the kitchen and tell me I was wrong not my order. I feel sorry for the wait staff because if shes in charge their tips are going to go down. I saw multiple couples visibly uncomfortable at the way she acted and many said they wouldnt be back. Myself included. I ate my incorrect food, left my waitress a lovely tip, and left dissatisfied with this awful employee.

Service was good. Got complimentary soup which I thought might mean they cant even sell the stuff its so bad, but it was actually really good. The lasagna was okay for diner lasagna. The gyro and mushroom swiss burger my family order was really good. You have to stand in line at the end to pay for food which I think is too old-fashioned for restaurants now. The booths are a little small, there was very little room with two adults sitting next to each other. They are moderately priced. The overall experience was positive.

We are from Kansas in town for college baseball tournament. Drove past this restaurant on way to the games and decided to try it for supper. It was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and the food was great. My Mom worked in a family owned restaurant while I was growing up so I know when a restaurant is good and this one is. Whenever we are close to or in Springfield, we will visit this place again. Thank you for such a good dining experience.

Been going here for several years...even back when they were Ziggies. Food is great, service has always been good. Only suggestion would be to be a bit more handicap accessible. Sometimes we opt not to go there because my husband has a hard time with their stairs. But the food is great!!! Also, we left something on the table and didnt notice it till about 3 days later. I called and they had it. Awesome and honest!

Friendly and helpful service - waitress made useful suggestions about specials. OK diner feel with lots of comfy booths. Had the Chicken Pesto Naan off of the lunch special menu - only fair. Swimming in cheese and chicken a bit dry. Greek salad OK by diner standards, but made with Iceberg lettuce - so not great. Soup OK but very salty. Prices OK ($7 lunch special). You could do worse for a casual lunch. WiFi worked well.

Never a disappointment! The food, no matter what we order, is always great. The daily soup cup is totally free and equally top notch. The Vlore bread used for toast is awesome. All day breakfast is killer, and the dinner entrees are pretty tasty, too. The only bad thing is how cramped it gets when it is busy (often) and the small booths. More space to accommodate all the happy eaters is needed!

There you are! Missed you completely on our return trip, made us sad, but Im saving you on my map! You cant hide forever! Lol. We loved the food and the folks. We were brainless and couldnt remember the restaurant name on the way home. The google search that first found it for us failed on the trip home.... We would have crossed the city for this one. Well worth your time. Anytime!

Usually have no problem here. This visit we sat in a booth with our friend and her daughter, look over and there is a cockroach crawling on the walls and then down onto her toast! This is unacceptable. Not only did we tell them discretely but then they still asked for payment for the food! We will never be coming back and check your food for roaches!!!!

This used to be the original Ziggies, then from what I know there was some legal trouble so the name was changed to Springfield Family Restaurant. The food is usually pretty great here, and across the board its a solid choice, but it wouldnt be my first place to eat in town just because the food isnt remarkable and it tends to be very crowded.
