The food and price are fairly decent. The reason Im rating low is due to the service from the waitresses. On one occasion when I was there with my friend, her 4 yr. old daughter and my 6 yr. old son, the waitresses hardly came by our table. They were too preoccupied flirting with a booth full of men not far from us. (We watched a group of waitresses as they giggled and waved at these men and they were constantly checking to see if those guys needed anything) When I finally got the attention of one of the waitresses and asked her to refill our kids drinks, she seemed annoyed about it. (Even if theres a language barrier ladies, your facial expressions tell all) Finally, when we were done, they came to our table with a written ticket showing the price of each meal/drink and our total. I looked at the ticket and calculated what they had on there and realized the total was so much more than what I was coming up with even with my guess of the tax so I asked her for a printed receipt. She came back and apologized and it showed on my receipt that the total was about $3-$4 cheaper than what she gave me on the written receipt. I understand that some restaurants add gratuity to the receipt, but it usually says so on the printed receipt. So... that means that I wouldve given twice the amount of tip than I would have if I didnt catch that! Im a big believer in tipping our waiters/waitresses when we eat out so its not like Im complaining on that. Its the fact that they were dishonest about the ticket, and wouldnt have caught them if I didnt look at it closely. This has happened twice now. The first time, I didnt say anything but the second time, I said something to the lady at the register. She just kept mumbling back in a different language and looked mad! Mad because I spoke up about it? Anyway, I have not been back since that second incident. If you still decide to eat here, make sure you ask for a printed receipt when youre ready. IJS

Something isnt right. This use to be our favorite place. It started about 3 months ago when my wife and her sister went for lunch. My wife was bragging to her sister about how clean it was and all the fresh good food. When they came back, they we telling me how terrible it was. So I went there for lunch last month (Sept.) and to my surprise it was dirty and the food wasnt good at all (been sitting a long time). They would not put fresh food up on the buffet. I thought may be it was a lunch thing so I went back tonight for dinner. Boy, was that a mistake! Now I know why they didnt have a dinner rush. Same thing as lunch. Old cold food, you know, like crab that tastes like a cold piece of rubber. All of the food, not part, was cold and chewy. I think they started to get the message when I went up to the buffet 5 times in a row and loaded the plates as heavy as possible. Then left the full plates on the table for them to dispose of. At that point they only brought 6 or 7 fresh dishes to the buffet. And to my waitress here is your tip: Do not walk by me 5 times and look at my empty glass and make me flag you down for something to drink. This place went form my favorite place to the hall of shame in a matter of months. What is going on? Maybe, I might try it again when a "Under New Management" or "New Owner" sign is hung up. As for the next year or two, looks like I will be looking for a new Chinese restaurant and will not be going back to this dirty place.

I have never been treated with such disrespect from a restaurant. NEVER!!!! This has been my favorite Chinese place for many years. However, my last visit guaranteed that we will NEVER go again. We called twice prior to the visit to check the prices for our kids ages and the adult prices. When we arrived we were told that the pricing we were given was incorrect. Then we were given a menu that showed pricing that was typed then scratched out and handwritten with new prices. The prices were $10.99 for Sunday buffet and $9.65 dinner buffet. It was a Friday night, and since no Friday price was listed, we assumed it would be the $9.65 price. Nope! We were told it was on the Sunday price, and the manager enforced the unwritten pricing after arguing loudly with us for some time. Then all the staff started talking to each other in Chinese, pointing, and laughing at us from different ends of the restaurant. Then our waitress went to a room that was separated by glass, stood right by our table, laughed, pointed, and shook her head. They continued to swarm around us, talking and laughing, until we left. This restaurant has now lost regular customers. They are disrespectful CHEATS!!!!!

When FooKee closed down at the Antioch Shopping mall, I was out of town and didnt find out where they went. Went many years without knowing where they were located. Moved to Omaha and was back in town this past weekend with my boyfriend. We noticed this place and decided to stop after someone had told me that it was owned by the same people. Were we glad we stopped. Lunch buffet was $15 for both of us and we actually took it to go. Stuffed our boxes as full as we could get them. Ate when we got back home and decided we should have gotten more. My boyfriend is already planning our next trip to KC - more specifically to Mamas Buffet. I got a lecture about us being together for 3 years and me never taking him there until he found out that I didnt know where they had moved. Just another one of those great places to eat in KC. Theres no place like home - lol

Can describe in one word HORRIBLE.... The service SUCKED when we got there the buffet was trifling and there was no food on the line and when asked they said food was coming. Then they put like 10 pieces of chicken in the pan like that was not no buffet. The waitress was RUDE we let her know that the food was not good at all and all she did was laugh she was real lucky she didnt get slapped..I have never been to a Chinese restaurant that bad.. Its like they dont care about there customer she did nothing to fix anything your better off finding a dumpster to eat out of than this place and by the way the only reason why it got one star is because I had to choose atleast on to post my review but it clearly dont even deserve that

When I found that Foo Kee had become Mama Buffet I was thrilled. I always had excellent service from the friendly staff who are extremely polite. The food is kept hot and fresh by employees who man each of the stations. While not all employees understand English, such as the cleaning/bussing staff, I have always found for the price this to be an excellent place for Chinese food. Unique combinations such as boiled butter potato, jalapeno chicken, and bacon fried rice in addition to all the regular menu items allow enough choices for everyone to find something they will like. Mama Buffet is smaller than Foo Kee so often more crowded, but obviously well liked by the patrons.
