When you go out to eat at a Chinese buffet, you cant expect the same standard of quality as other casual dining establishments. Ive seen my fair share of bad Chinese buffets, but this is the worst I have ever had. The best aspect is most likely the service, which was no more than so so. Upon being seated, I had already noticed the numerous flies zooming around the room. As I approached the buffet counter, I could see that the flies had also helped themselves to the food. I thought it strange that the flies flew rampant throughout the restaurant. The staff did nothing to drive away the flies, but what could they do? I was rather disappointed that I would have to skip the fruit, for that would have offered relief to the main dishes. Besides the flies, there were numerous other health concerns with the food. The unprepared sushi meat was left uncovered, allowing flies access to the already contaminated flesh. The Mongolian BBQ was sparsely populated with a small selection of vegetables and meats, none of which looked fresh. As for the main dishes, there was a severe lack of planning and consideration. Last time I checked, neither fried okra nor mozzarella sticks were remotely Chinese. But with a whole counter devoted to fried foods, I guess they would need to fill it with something. As for the rest of the food, they barely passed as Pan-Asian cuisine, let alone Chinese food. I walked past the same ingredients slathered in a different sauce, each with copious amounts of salt or, god forbid, MSG. Had I been the one paying the bill, I would have walked out without paying. As I sit here typing with a growing stomach ache, I implore you to skip this restaurant and save yourself some money.

Im not the type of person that usually complains about restaurants. In fact... Ive never even had a Chinese place that I didnt like to eat at... until now. I almost gave this place 2 stars instead of 1 because I do enjoy the food/selection they have to offer. I gave China Garden two try outs because I live within a few miles. During both visits, the place was PACKED with a lot of rudely non-English speaking customers that their kids just ran around rampant.. pushing seats, spilling food etc... This was especially true when I went on Sunday. You cant just tell the parents..." hey control your kids, they almost knocked me out of my chair!" -- because theyll look at you and say "No English." Another astonishing occurrence is that both times, the waitress demanded a tip from us. This happened TWICE with TWO separate waitresses. All she did was bring me ice water one time. She literally put out her hand and stood at our booth, repeating "tip, tip, tip". It cost more than the other buffets around here, and just isnt worth it. Remember this is just my experience though, maybe I just picked unlucky days. Maybe the place deserves another star... I dont see how anyone could give it 4-5 stars. Cheers

I was there for lunch today and the hostess was RUDE we told her we wanted a table and she tried twice to sit us at a booth, when there was tables available. The waitress delivered our drinks but never came back to check on us or take away any of our used plates. When we were ready to leave she came running over and ask if we were leaving and we said yes she gave us our check and told us to pay her. No apology or anything. The restrooms are GROSS very very dirty and they smell Horrible!!! The food quality has declined and is less than par. I even saw a bug on the buffet by the Hot soups and pointed out to one of the waiters... He got a napkin and picked it up and that was it... I will never go back to this restaurant...I was totally disgusted!! I tried to complain when I was leaving and the man at the desk said the manager was off today and that he did not speak good English... I then tried to call and speak to someone in charge to complain and the hostess answered the phone and didnt even answer saying the restaurant name and when I asked her who I had reached she hung up on me... I do not recommend this place at all!!!

Do not pay attention to these over privileged, snobby, idiotic negative reviews. I have been going to this establishment for almost 10 years now, and I personally have never had a single complaint. Its constantly busy, (which is a good indicator that its worth going to), so the food is consistently fresh. The variety in cuisine is unmatched by any other establishment of this type. Service is prompt, polite, and well executed all around. If you are a working class individual, like Chinese and other varieties of food, and you have the capacity to understand what a buffet is and just how bad buffets can be, you will LOVE THIS PLACE! If I had to come up with one complaint, it wpuld be this: more often than not, when you first arrive you will probably be standing for about 10min while you wait for a table to become available. As if that is something to complain about! Love this place and will continue to go So long as it doesnt change from its current formula. This place has it figured out! 5/5 STARS WITHOUT HESITATION!

This is a local, privately owned buffet that actually has pretty good food. Its a buffet. Not a four star restaurant. So people leaving horrible reviews need to maybe re-assess their expectations about buffets in general. The food is hot, good, and typically fresh out of the kitchen. Is it going to change your life? No. But its hard to find a better Chinese buffet in KC. Runs about $13 per person and little kids must be less because there are always a lot of families when we go. I enjoy the selection and they actually have a lot of really good seafood which (if you take advantage of) can make the price a little more reasonable. Dont expect to be waited on hand and foot but plates are cleared and drinks refilled in a reasonable timeframe. And frankly, sometimes its kind of nice not to be bothered during dinner and just to catch up with family. If this doesnt sound like a nice dinner to you there are several fast food options in the area and a very nice Chinese restaurant in Westport.

Absolutely disgusting. When we first got there the hostess asked how many were in our party and then just walked away. She did not tell us to follow her, so we stood there. She then very rudely told us to come. Our drink orders were not correct, and the server had very bad attitudes toward us when we asked for the correct drinks. We got up to the buffet with high hopes for the food, but were very disappointed. The man working the grill was picking his nose, which was a major turn off. We got our plates and sat down to eat, and the food was horrible. No flavor at all, very bland. My boyfriend got crab legs, which had a very bad odor. I dont like the smell of fish anyway, but this smelled bad on a whole different level. He said it did not taste right, and quickly stopped eating it to avoid getting sick. It was definitely not worth the money, and we are now on our way to McDonalds to get the taste out of our mouths.
