I will give Bōru Ramen and the staff we encountered the benefit of the doubt and suggest the night I went with my husband was an off night. That said, wide swings in consistency is not a very comforting thought, especially when the space was about half full when we arrived, and didnt have a massive influx of diners that would have sent the place into a stretched-thin tizzy. A few points, varying in degree of impact on our experience: -I am not a huge stickler about having my water glass refilled, but if you, as my server, have acknowledged three times that my glass is empty and youre going to top it off, and fail to do so each of those three times, its going to become a bit bothersome. At least look a little frazzled so I can feel self righteous about being laid-back and trying to counter your other demanding tables. -Okonomiyaki on the menu is one of the main reasons why we decided to try Bōru, as its a favourite of ours and is no longer served at the place we used to go for it, but the crisp cabbage and the gummy batter were discouraging. Not as we like it. Also, please try distributing the bacon a bit better so were not fighting with one thats been folded on itself multiple times and is sitting like a sad little lump in one piece of the pancake. It is bacon, so not terribly sad, but diners without their desired share of bacon are sad. -We appreciated our server acknowledging at least 15 minutes after we placed our order that tickets had gotten confused in some way, and needed a reminder of what it was we ordered, but that would lead me to believe that when our food is delivered, it will seem freshly prepared. Ramen, even if serving it piping hot is not the aim, should not be served just barely warmer than room temp. Yikes.

Our server was awesome. She was friendly, and food was great, but everyone else was very rude. my sister, my 20 month old and I ate there last night and from the minute we walked in the hostess had an attitude about us having a small child with us. I asked if they had highchairs to double check children were allowed. They say is in the middle of the restaurant by the only other couple in there and when my child started to get loud and restless when the food came out the staff very loudly was talking about he was annoying them. The server for the couple next to us came and apologized for my child being loud in front of us and then laughed and made jokes. They made us so uncomfortable that we didnt even finish our food and left. If they dont want kids in the building the dont have high chairs and say no kids welcome. I was attending to my child and trying to get him to quiet down. Will not be going back.

First time here I had an excellent experience. The location was great, the atmosphere was on point, the wait staff was on the ball and knew their stuff. I sat at the bar on a Saturday evening, and it was fairly crowded for being around 9:45 (kitchen closes at 10!) when everyone starts heading to the bars. I got the ramen and had a couple cocktails and saki shots. The chef on hand even came out to discuss some of their saki options with me. The food was delicious and Im glad the trend is picking up and we now have a local ramen bar. Looking forward to my next visit! Definitely one of the better, if not the best, ramen places in Kansas City.

We love us some good ramen. Boru is a trendy place with a trendy menu. Lots of different stuff on it and it all sounds pretty good. Sadly, the ramen noodles arent quite as good as some other places - however the ramen broth they serve is pretty good... if one could bring their own noodles, that would be perfect! Hah. We have yet to try other items on the menu, as we visited specifically for the ramen. I would recommend giving this place a try, its quality food... but very busy, so make sure you make reservations!

The good here is an interesting fusion of Asian offerings like deconstructed steamed buns, and classic ramen. The alcohol selection is varied and interesting. With choices of domestic and international offerings like the beers you know and love, as well as more unique liquor choices like Soju and sochu. The portions are a great size and flavorful as well. The staff is also energetic, personable and cater to all your needs. Dani was my server and she was great. Request her if you go for a great experience.

My third time here. They cleaned up the menu. Still only 5 ramen items. Theyre trying to do too much in the bowl. Too many flavors that dont meld well together. Shoyu, for example, is soy sauce in Japan, but here it is salty broth with chicken and thats fine, but then you bite into a balsamic vinegary sweet mushroom that is completely out of place. Someone probably thought it would bring balance, but the difference is too jarring. The bamboo shoots bring that balance better than the pickled mushrooms.

i ordered okonomiyaki and two ramen dishes ( boru and tantan mein). Servers were friendly and the flavors of the food were good, however neither okonomiyaki nor ramen were hot enough. Not only ours but any other tables have hot sizzling food or hot steamy broth. broth of ramen was rukewarm and as a person who know what the temperature should be can only get disappointed. ramen need to be serve with hot steamy broth. also price is too high compare to the food quality

This is the best Ramen Ive found in Kansas city. There are a couple other restaurants devoted solely to Ramen, but this one is my favorite because the selection, although limited, is well rounded. Like spicy? I recommend the Korean. It has Kimchi which is delicious. They have a spicy oil on each table so you can add as much heat as you like. The wait staff is very personable as well, adding to a nice experience. They have a large sake selection too.

The ramen was passable. The edamame was overcooked, and they put some seasoning on it that tasted like fish food. It just needs salt, people! The biggest negative was the atmosphere. We went on a Sunday at 5pm, and it was like a nightclub in there? There were multiple, large televisions playing 80s rap music, and it was loud enough that we had to lean in to hear each other. Not our cup o tea. Komatsu is better all around.

Very good food, some of it quite unusual! The soup w seaweed was SO salty, I couldnt eat it. Traffic noise from 75th street is very loud!! Maybe when it gets colder & they close the windows, the noise level will be acceptable. Tell me why, oh why, they play MTV music??! Id think theyd want some quasi Asian music playing softly in the background! But Ill be coming back because of the bao! Fabulous!

Eric N. was awesome! His food and drink recommendations were excellent. Pork belly bao and Korean ramen were excellent. Loaded fried rice was pretty good but not as good as the ramen. Fist of Fury cocktail brought the heat- little too much for me but would be great for heat lovers. Axe Gang cocktail was AMAZING! Best recommendation of the night. This will be my go to cocktail there.
