My friend took me out to eat last night at the renowned "best restaurant on the Mississippi coast", Salute Italian Seafood Restaurant. We sat at an umbrella table on the patio with a view of the Gulf across the street and enjoyed a storm approaching with its refreshing breeze and, eventually, a light rain. The margarita and incredible fresh bread tasted wonderful, but the entree was truly out of this world! I had Oysters Florentine, and I tell you from the very first bite, I was in heaven. The perfectly fried oysters were coated in a flavorful breading and nestled with spinach and artichoke in the best alfredo sauce Ive ever tasted! I felt like an advertising model as I lavished each forkful with nothing but anticipation and bliss adorning my face. My friend had the salmon and declared it the best she has ever tasted. She has had it before there, and just had to have it again. Our waiter, Justin, was warm and perfectly attentive, as well as funny, and he sang little ditties as he approached or left the table. Great companionship, food beyond compare, and elegant, relaxing ambience -- I will never forget this fabulous dining experience. The sad thing is that I left my favorite reading glasses at the table. I will have to go back this evening to retrieve them. Oh, dear. I may have to have another of those tasty margaritas while I am there. Maybe I can bribe the chef into giving me the recipe for the alfredo sauce and oyster breading. If not, I may just have to sneak into the kitchen and see if I can charm a sous chef into blessing me with the secrets. I AM A WOMAN ON A MISSION!

The man complaining about the sign that says "feminist AF" needs to lighten up a little bit. Your president that you elected has said and done FAR WORSE! I cannot describe how much fun we had here the weekend before Mardi Gras. We had vacationed from Minnesota to NOLA and our plane was delayed and we had to travel to Gulfport to catch another. A friend recommended to see the beach while we wait for repairs on that plane. Why not? Salute has a BEAUTIFUL view of the coastline with the most gorgeous sunset. We sat at the bar for some cocktails and were greeted by Reed, a wonderful guy! We mustve looked out of place, because before long some locals, including the owner of the restaurant, sent some drinks our way. Before we knew it, we were enjoying Gulfport more than our entire NOLA trip. We walked over to the beach and enjoyed the clean white sand. The drinks were appropriately priced, and the food was divine. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Not only did we have a blast, but it changed the way we think about Mississippi. Much love to these guys and we cannot wait to visit again!

Out of 55 reviews, 45 were four or five stars and I read all 55. All I can say is I totally agree with those writing the 4/5 star reviews so Im not going to repeat them here and those that wrote the one to three stars must have had a bad hair day with perhaps one exception. Where possible, I tried to look at some of their other reviews and the one exception always writes exceptional reviews. All I can say is he should give them another chance. With over 75% writing positive reviews you know this restaurant has something going for themselves. So - Im going to say you can hardly go wrong eating there, we loved it and its surely worth taking a shot with the 75%. As for the 25%, well, you cant win them all. (I wonder how many work for the competition?) I will say they need to clean up their entrance - you come in looking at the wrong side of the bar and that is really, really tacky. My initial impression was, Oh - Oh, were in trouble. As it turned out, the food and service more than made up for the not-so-pretty entrance but it wasnt a very good beginning.

My wife and I enjoyed this restaurant, the food, service and surroundings were all outstanding. We made sure to order both the white and red sauces and both were first rate. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and had several suggestions on what we might like, she was polite and very professional. We couldnt believe the quality and quantity of the food considering the price. The honey vinaigrette salad was outstanding and was complimented by the fresh and very hot bread. Needless to say we had to have carry out boxes and we are both hoping that its as good the second day. I highly recommend that you visit this restaurant, they also have a really nice view and clean/safe parking. We enjoyed an evening out for the low cost of only 34.00 (minus tip) they can count on seeing us again.

I never write reviews, but this restaurant is exceptional. We had a friend from out of town and we all agreed wed go two days in a row! The appetizers were excellent. We tried the calamari, the tomato-basil cream soup (yummmmm) and way too much of the fantastic house bread. For entrees we had the Amberjack, the fried meatballs (which my ex-football player husband couldnt finish) and the manocotti. The day before we had the Pizza- delicious! After the food arrived, the table was silent... until our fabulous drinks kicked in. And of course, I had to check out the bread pudding- so good with my capuccino! Everything was worth the money- including the view of the beach and the amazing staff. We were treated as valued customers and you cant beat that. Our server was Christopher! LOVE HIM!

I had the veal marsala and angel hair pasta - the veal was so salty, I couldnt eat it. The pasta was delicious as was the salad. We had a party of 15, but could only get seating for 12, which was disappointing. The rest of our party had to sit at a booth close to us. Everyone received their ordered items in a reasonable time frame except for one whose meal was evidently given to another guest. He had to wait another 30 minutes for his meal, and there was no concession for such a long wait and inconvenience. Not sure we would go there again with such a large party.....doesnt seem they are trained or equipped to provide service as should be expected. The lighting was too dim to read the menu.

Ive been here twice. Once when it first opened and once a few months ago. Both times were a bit lacking. The service the first time was amazing, prompt polite and just overall made the experience okay. The second time We recieved terrible service. I dont think our waitress said more than five words to us until she came with the bill. But service aside the food just isnt that good. Very bland, and way too big of portions. The one thing I will say for them is that their pizzas are great. Ive had a few of them and they are much better than any fast food pizza. Wont go back a third time for food, but will probably pick up a few pizzas now and then.

Went to the Salute ristorante and enjoyed the family. We ordered appetizers making sure NO cross contamination. I am seriously allergic to seafood. We explicitly told her 20 times. Our entrees came, and as she is talking to the family, I bite into a ravioli. I am chewing thinking, is this shrimp? So I asked her...is there seafood in this? She is looking at me with panic on my face. I had chewed it a few times before I realized it. Then spat it into a napkin. Never trust any restaurant when you have food allergies. No matter what! We have been going here for years. NEVER AGAIN! ALMOST KILLED ME
