On 1.24.2016 at 10:00 a.m. a group of 15 friend (who happened to all be bikers) decided to get together for dinner and drinks at the Tamarack Tap Room (8418 Tamarack Village, Woodbury, MN 55125 ). We agreed to meet at Tamarac Tap Room at 6:00p.m. At 11:30 a.m. I called Tamarac Tap Room to let them know that our group would be coming in at 6:00 p.m. I talked to Kim, who informed me that they don’t take reservations, however, would make a note of it so they could be prepared. Again at 2:30 p.m. I called Tamarack Tap Room, confirmed with Kim that indeed our group was coming, and the count was now 20. She informed me that while they don’t take reservations, it would be best to get there early, so they could begin getting things set up. We arrived at Tamarac Tap Room at 5:10 p.m., check in at the greeter desk and informed the manager we were there. We went to the bar, for drinks and to wait for our group to arrive. Our entire group was there by 5:45, as members arrived they too ordered drinks…this group of 17 is not afraid to spend their hard earned money and were so doing last night. At 6:30 we began, checking with the manger and hostess (repeatedly) as to when our table would be ready (as we had noticed that one lager party was seated, and groups of 2-5 were continually seated all the time we were waiting) they began telling us they were doing the best that they could, it would be a while, we don’t understand how diffluent it is, quoting company policy, that prevents them from taking reservations, I was aware they di d not take reservations, as Kim told me that, so I’m guessing that policy also prevents them from using good business sense in planning how to accommodate a group of 17 customers – when you had over 6 hours advance notice! At 7:10, our group was still not seated, and it was apparent that they had no intention of seating us. With one phone call to Cowboy Jacks, they said they could accommodate us. When we arrived at Cowboy Jacks, we got our own room, and waitress; they were happy to serve us! It would have been better if Kim would have told me when I first called (remember at 11:30 a.m.) that they couldn’t accommodate us or a group that large, we could have then planned on going someplace else. What we learned from this is that Tamarack Tap Room doesn’t treat all customers well, they apparently don’t like bikers, they don’t understand the logistics of how to seat a large groups of people and Tamarack Tap Room does not need the business of 17 customers and the friends they will tell about this experience! They don’t have to worry, this group will never go to Tamarac Tap Room again, and we will encourage everyone else we know to not go there as well

BE PREPARED TO PAY MORE THAN WHAT IS ADVERTISED ON THE MENU!! Here is my honest opinion! My BIGGEST concern was paying for a drink that was listed on the menu and to get my check (only ordered one drink) and the price was different! The staff said "We need to update our menu prices" Umm.. okay lost 2 stars right there! Either let the patrons know the prices are inaccurate or shut down get on a printer and make new menus... not brain surgery here folks The place looked inviting and excellent! Great bartender (sat at the bar). However, this place gets two stars for the following reasons! 1.) The food was absolutely outrageous in price! I mean 14-16 dollars for a burger? Come on! I understand that if I want to pay less go to mickey ds but for a burger in this location it is not on my radar! I would go Downtown Minneapolis/St.Paul at that point. 2.) Late night happy hour starts at 10pm on weekdays. I didnt really agree with this for a weekday happy hour, as similar places start at 9pm. I understand that is a management decision and such. Just a heads up! Happy hour starts at 10! 3.) The Biggest concern is paying for something at a different, higher price! NOT COOL! PROS: - Fun - Relaxing - Upbeat - Clean - Inviting CONS: - Paying unadvertised prices - Too Costly (paying for atmosphere, than quality) Otherwise, good place for a group and drinks! If you dont mind being surprised!

The shine is gone review: this place quickly sunk. Reduced hours means those of us working more than a 9-5 are SOL for a decent beer after work. Service on the last few visits has been very spotty, at one point wasting 20 minutes ordering different beers as they were "out" only to figure out that our server forgot to order it and they actually had my initial choice. Servers seem confused about their role in picking up food and drink orders. Management will need to up the focus on Customer Experience in a hurry to save face. Clients should always feel confident after ordering that they will have their order quickly and accurately. Its now as if ya a roll of the dice if your tables order will arrive together, in order, , correct. While, the food is still above par, it is loosing its luster as its offerings are static. Original review: Opening day jitters aside, it has been terrific everything. Friendly staff, excellent tap list, and the food is fantastic. The prices are spot on for the area, beating out Craft in most regards but slightly higher than Tavern. Worth the extra dollar per meal in tap selection alone.

Finally, a reason to stay in Woodbury when I go out at night rather than drive into Minneapolis or St. Paul! This place has one of the best tap selections I have seen anywhere. The bar staff has had some change-over since they opened their doors; the bar staff used to be entirely comprised of very knowledgeable beer-fanatics. The current bar staff are great people who strive to provide great service, but lack genuine passion for craft beer and dont really seem like "beer insiders". The food is mostly mediocre, but the menu offerings lean more toward "gastro-pub" fare than most bars. One food caveat: make sure you ask if they have any specials if you are sitting at the bar! The bar staff usually forgets to let customers know if the kitchen has a special for the night...and the specials tend to be the best food in the place!

There arent enough standard burgers. All the burgers had something off about ingredients used. They are cooked on a flat top which is strange when half their menu is burgers. There house sauce is basically flavored tarter sauce. Not good with onion rings. Onion rings were just on this side of done which meant they were soggy from the onions and held all of the grease. Yuck. The chicken Tai wrap was flavorless and not enough sauce. The cheese curds came with blueberry syrup which tasted very strange. 2 bites and we asked for ranch. I also didnt like that they take your glass when you want a refill. That leaves me drink less for several minutes and it means other customers are catching my cold. Lastly, the temp was at a comfortable 45 degrees at our table while we all sat teeth chattering.

The food was not good. My burger sliders were flavorless and the bacon on it was a half inch strip. The chili fries were lacking punch and the fries themselves were limp noodles. The chicken taco for my son were warm at best and even he wouldnt eat the chicken. The cheese curds were supposed to be the highlight of the trip but ended up also being flavorless. That was the theme for the evening. To boot when the waitress brought my wife her drink she said "not going to lie, I tried it and it was delicious." I am not sure what she meant by this but either way it was weird. The decor is cool, and the atmosphere is great but we will not be going back. Craft beer across the street or tavern down the road are much better for the same price.
