I went to the Blacksmith Lounge for lunch while doing a move in Hugo Minnesota. At the reference of my customer. From the outside looks like a bar you could get in a fight in , from the inside it looks like a friendly neighborhood bar / restaurant. The waitress came over and was prompt in filling our drink order. Unfortunately she spilled an entire drink in one of my workers lap. Funny to us not to him. The waitress was also surprise that that happened. to our bewilderment she did not say sorry. I personally think it was because she was in shock that she had done that. A few jokes were made then we got our food. We all ordered burgers and the burgers were spectacular. As a mover I go out to eat in the afternoons quite a bit and this is one of the best burgers that I have had in the greater Twin Cities area, the food is really good. But when the bill came I was quite surprised to see there was no consideration for the spilled soda pop all over my worker. I mean the waitress was pleasant and all but she just didnt address that whatsoever. As I went up to the bartender to pay my bill I told her about it I thought at least they would take off the soda. the bartender took my bill as I tried to hand her my card she wouldnt charge it. She went above and beyond by zeroing out our entire bill. I was only expecting a soda pop not to be charged. I placed a 5 buck tip for the watress A girl is allowed to have a bad day every now and then ya know. So with the way that they handled the incident and with a spectacular food I would be proud to tell my family and friends to go eat there. It is a good place from the perspective of my experience. Heck even the guy that got doused told me he wanted to go back :- )

This place is wonderful! Its your typical low-lit bar, with the type of crowd you would expect to be at a place like this. Not only are the drinks great (make sure to try their Bloody Mary), but the food is exceptional! Its difficult to find something on the menu that doesnt taste amazing. Well, I take that back; if you dont like meat, this place isnt for you. But if you like meat, you will be coming back frequently. I would highly recommend their ribs, broasted chicken, sirloin tips, and burgers.

If youre a foodie, dont eat here. Ive had more flavorful food at nursing homes. The broasted chicken was moist and crisp. The menu says its marinated for hours, but the question is- in what? Water? Regarding service, as a first time guest, I thought the server would ask us questions or give recommendations, she dropped food off but said little. If you just want a shot, you might leave a happy.

Its an "old school" bar. Dont expect anything fancy. But the food and service are EXCELLENT. I highly recommend the broasted chicken and barbecue ribs. Also, dont write a bad check. If you do and fail to pay, the "advertise" your name on the sign in front of the bar. (no, I never wrote them a bad check) Check it out. You wont be disappointed.

They need to turn some freaking lights on in there, and whats with the dinky drink glasses? When I order a cocktail, that thing better be a large cocktail.
