Great grocery store! Everyone who works there are the happiest people I have seen working in a grocery store. I love getting advice from them, it is like talking to food professors, who have an emphasis on awesomeness. Awesomeness being the food they carry. A lot of local and organic choices, and an amazing selection for such a small store. The produce is always mighty fresh, and one of the produce workers kept offering me samples of pretty much everything in the department. He said "When we sample stuff to customers we get a chance to try it too, and you were just lucky enough to catch me hungry." Their only set back is that they are a little expensive, but what grocery store isnt these days. Besides it is a a local business, supporting other local businesses. Just keep an eye out for sale stuff, which is always a great deal. To sum it all up, having this store within walking distance is pretty flippin sweet! I will definitely be going back to Mississippi Market.

Wonderful store, inconsistent deli foods. My Wife and i lived right next to Sipi Market for a year and shopped there almost daily. We both really enjoy shopping here and the people who work here are very nice and helpful. The grocery portion of the store can be a little pricy depending on what your shopping for but you cant beat their bulk foods. They have a great bulk selection of tasks snacks and grains for cooking. My only complaints are that their deli foods/ prepared foods are wildly inconsistent. One time you could absolutely love one of their salads and the next it is nearly inedible. They dont do a good job of teaching people how to make the dishes. We learned to look for the right person behind the counter and eventually learned you can ask the person if its a good one or not. sip also offers classes and programs that are helpful and fun.

As a result of both proximity and preference, I spend most of my shopping time and grocery budget here. It is predictable (what I want is rarely out of stock, which is more than I can say for Target or Trader Joes), they offer a variety of great things not available everywhere (so many good breads and cheeses!), and if you figure out how to shop (bulk aisle, in season produce) it can be economical. I also like how much of a neighborhood institution the market is. The staff is great. While I recognize many and often have pleasant exchanges with them sometimes I assume that if I cant find something, it is not there... But these people know what they are doing! Tonight Shei was kind enough to point out the bok choy options we failed to locate in the produce section. Really, I cant speak highly enough of this place.

OK. So, theyve got any array of unique brands and local foods that support all things good (the environment, the food chain from farm to grocer, super great sales and coupon options, very nice folks working there). It is a pleasure to shop at the local coop and it feels local. Heres the rub on 4 stars rather than 5. Walking past the kitchen area and spotting several folks with really long hair that is uncovered or is "technically" covered by a cap, but theres still hair hanging down to the shoulders. It makes me not want to dig into the prepared food. High marks everywhere else. But please, pull that hair up in a bun and net it!

One of my favorite places to grab a quick lunch-to-go. Theyve got a decent selection of hot sandwiches, paired with a side of chips or veggies, and a pickle, too. Oh, and their peanut butter chocolate chip cookies from the bakery are pretty awesome. Im pretty sure that I have all my co-workers conditioned to the sound of the opening of the plastic wrap for the peanut butter chocolate chip cookies — heads perk up from their cubes to inquire, "you brought us cookies??" :)

Excellent cheese selection, and decent pricing on organic, grass fed meats. However some dry goods are priced way over what I believe is a reasonable value, compared to the many other options for natural foods stores on the area. Staff are friendly, albeit not overly so. The saving grace of this store is their local milk prices ($2 for whole milk is a mega deal), but the rest of the prices dont balance out for us to make this our weekly grocery store.

Awesome co-op. Lots of great stuff and very affordable. They offer regular deals for members and there is usually something on sale. They focus on local produce and sustainable methods. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The organization is committed to re-investing into the community which is also pretty cool. They have a big bulk selection, fresh stuff as well as a lot of prepared foods for something on the go.

Our extended family of 7 all have various but not the same food intolerances but we all do better with organic foods. At Mississippi Market I can find foods without the additives that bother us, soy (lecithin), corn (flour, starch, syrup), etc. With careful label reading I can find staples and the little treats that make life enjoyable for everyone.

I echo the comments regarding poor customer service. The department staff are helpful and friendly, but the cashiers are consistently rude. I would love to patronize the coop, but the treatment I get at the registers causes me to go elsewhere. This is especially a problem at the Selby location.

Visiting from out of town, just picking up a couple of items and was impressed how friendly the staff was, engaging in conversation without being intrusive. I felt like part of the family. On the other hand, they do not reciprocate memberships with co-ops outside the Minneapolis-St. Paul area

This place is horrible. They fire people for no good reason and they are liars. do not trust this company and do not buy their products. A co-op should stand by their employees not tear them down and they do not make St. Paul livable wage thats a lie. I wish I could give them zero stars

This place does a wonderful job with their produce and owner deals. I do wish they had certain items stocked that the 7th st location has, but then again that location is also larger. Their American cheese slices are a staple as are the bulk chicken wings, and andouille sausage.

Ive been shopping at the Mississippi Market for about a decade. I like how they stock, they have a great juice bar and excellent prepared food, and the best fresh produce in the cities. Ive been a member/owner for a long time, and even not living in St Paul anymore, I go back.

One of my favorite grocery stores. I appreciate that its small, and it carries most anything I need (want is a different story), and they read the labels ahead of time before acquiring the product - refusing to sell certain ingredients. As a CoOp, they take member requests.

Great coop with very knowledgeable staff. They know where your food comes from and how to use it. The vast vast majority of the produce is organic, and if it isnt it is clearly labeled. The staff at the check out counter know our family even though we go occur a week.

Amazing produce, good selection, local produce, and friendly staff. You can get a lot of non-major brand labels here. The quality of the produce, meat, and diary is excellent. They prioritize organic locals products, and provide helpful info cards on vendors.
