Have had good luck in the past at Sawatdee but ordered take out tonight and will not be going back. When we arrived to pick up our order the hostess asked what we ordered and said it was still being prepared which was odd because we could see two take out orders prepped and ready by the cashier. A few minutes later another lady walks out of the kitchen and asked if we were waiting for an order and we reply yes and with the name of the order. She promptly grabs on of the prepped orders that we noticed before and sure enough one was ours. Disheartening to know your food was just sitting there while you wait for no reason. When we got back and started to dig in we realized it was not what we expected. The cashew chicken stir fry we ordered was a soupy mess and the pad Thai had a rank smell with an off taste. We ordered the egg rolls as well and those are usually very good but they were sub par today. We had been repeat customers in the past but after this experience wed rather go to Leeann Chin.

Its been 20+ years since we visited this Sawatdee. Our usual is the one in St. Paul, but since we were in Mpls we thought lets try this one. I and my party of 5 were all disappointed. The dining area was ugly and dated. I dont think its changed much in the last 20 years. The service was VERY slow, but she was friendly when we had her attention. The kitchen was quick though, but the food was ok at best. My favorite food is Thai - I think Ive had everything on this menu over time - but all of our dishes were without much flavor. Some in the party asked for a 3 or 4 hot level - ALL were 1 at best. Our friends visiting from Alaska ordered a stir fry with squid and they recieved a type of fish commonly switched in place of squid. I was none the wiser but they know their seafood and what they ordered is not what they got. All in all I wouldnt go back- I think there are newer and better Thai restaurants in the twin cities.

Party of 10, Sunday lunch. Disappointing service. Arrived at 12:30. Many tables open. Was told we could be seated but might not get served right away. Boy was that true. Seated at 12:45, got menus at 1:00 (not enough for whole table) ordered drinks (water and soda) at 1:10 Beverages arrived at 1:20. One water forgotten. Server took order at 1:30. 2 of 3 egg roll order arrived at 1:45. Meals arrived at 2:00 along with 3rd order of egg rolls. One meal ordered as vegetarian contained chicken. Thankfully was replaced quickly. Nearing end of meal water was filled when we asked for it and missing water glass arrived. Wanted to try dessert but chose not to because everything took too long. On a positive note the food was delicious but our party was overall irritated with lengthy wait time. Server was kind but not at all apologetic. Maybe this is the norm. I will hesitate to return.

Gordon Ramsey needs to be on speed dial. Two of the worst dishes ever !!! No Joke !! Mine: pad thai cant mess that up ....wrong . OMG tasted nothing but american BBQ sauce it was so weird , even the smell of pulled BBQ chicken, and i had tofu..so ? My Friend : Pang curry ok this dish had one inch of supposed curry broth which was all oil and no cocount milk, then the only veggies , uncooked green beans and raw red bell pepper. Oh yeah order the veg hot & sour soup .For a good chuckle. The soup came to the table overflowing with factory cut (agian uncooked) veggies , carrots, peas , zuccini, . this tasted good i still thought it was a joke , then the above food came . i say closed in year or less

Quality asian food, respectable price, and a comfortable atmosphere. I ate here with a friend and enjoyed the dumpling appetizer and ginger chicken entree (4 out of 5 on pepper scale). I like spicy food (ex: a nice Indian masala) and the 4 peppers was enough to generate that familiar, comfortable sweat. The vegetables were fresh, and the ginger was distinct. Dont go here if youre looking for a quick, inexpensive, and greasy Chinese dish. They do serve large portions, but the price isnt comparable. Try it out if youre looking to sit down for a chat, enjoy some fresh Asian food, and pay a respectable price ($10+) for a dish .

I went here for my first time yesterday, and my last time. I got take out from the lunch buffet , and being in there for a total of 3 minutes, I had the unfortunate experience of hearing the manager (assuming that is who he is) be ultra-rude and condescending to one of the other employees. Right in the middle of myself and other customers. It was a total power play and the guy was a total prick to his female colleague. The food was fine (definitely not the best), and while it is across the street from where I work, I will never give my money to this establishment again. Hire a new manager!

Had to get up and snag the clean napkins and silverware from the adjacent table. Entree was a handful of food in a plate of sauce. Meat was like leather and had been cut up with no care or consideration. I ended up removing the skin from every piece of meat with a spoon because there were no knifes. Maybe one star is a little harsh because if you know what to and what not to get off the menu it is probably a good place to go and get a quick bite to eat with a friend (if you are in the area). But for special occasions, or higher expectations, avoid.

Bolted to this place on a Sunday to grab some dinner before they closed. I liked the ambiance of the restaurant, and I believe the staff were friendly. Our server did seem a little uninformed about the menu but he was polite. I had the pineapple fried rice and my boyfriend had a shrimp and mussle with veggies dish, we both enjoyed our meals and cocktails. I thought it was a little pricey, but the portions were huge, so maybe it was fair after all. Id definitely go back if Im ever in this city again, which I hope I never am! Lol

Just ok. The waitstaff is not very attentive, the atmosphere is nice, the food is so-so. I have had much better, more authentic tasting Thai in many other places. Every time I have gone here I have asked for lava hot and every time I get medium. And they always manage to screw up my order. I do love the iced chai tea latte though, just wish it wasnt so expensive (about $5 a cup!) My suggestion: find a hole in the wall Thai restaurant ( of which there are plenty in the TC) and you will probably get more authentic food.

The atmosphere is unique, but not authentic. The service is okay, but then the restaurant was near empty when we showed up there. The food I would say is a hit or miss, and definitely too expensive for the quality of it. We pay $ 13 per dish for some beef pad see yew (noodles) and Mock dock red curry. I left the pad see yew half way empty because it was not fresh at all. Try amazing thai, chiang mai thai or another thai restaurant in the city.
