This place has the potential to be great. Unfortunately, they are not there yet. They have a ways to go in terms of service. On my first visit to Saguaro, there was a wait. This is totally fine and understandable as this happens almost everywhere. We put our name on the list and proceeded to wait near the door. There were a number of parties that came in after us and were also waiting for a table. When it got time for us to be the next party seated, the host proceeded to seat a party that had arrived much later than us. I asked the server about this and he told me that he was going to seat them (party of 4) instead of us because "its a four-top" and we were a party of 2. He told us that we had to wait for a two-top to open up. On most days this would have been just fine, except on this day there was a massive party that had taken the vast majority of the two-tops in the restaurant. After waiting 20 minutes and seeing other parties being seated ahead of us, we left. I was going to write-off this restaurant as a result, but decided to give it another chance a week later. This time we were seated promptly after arriving. We started by ordering two "margaritas" and some chips and guacamole. The reason I put margaritas in "" is because they were made with sake instead of tequila and just werent very tasty. Whatever, they dont have a full liquor license and are improvising, I get it. The thing is, it just wasnt very good. We received the "margaritas" in good time, but the chips and guac didnt come out until 15 minutes after wed gotten our drinks. The chips were fine and the guacamole was fairly good (needed just a touch of salt, I would have added some but there was none on the tables). My wife ordered the enchiladas and I ordered the chimichanga. The wait times for the main courses were adequate and arrived to the table hot. My wife enjoyed her enchiladas but said they could use some more seasoning. The chimichanga I got looked fantastic and was rather large. The sauce they drizzle on top of their chimichangas is interesting, not bad, but a little on the sweet side. My problem with the chimichanga was with its contents. The thing was probably 90% rice. I had gotten 1/4 through the chimichanga before I even found any evidence of beans or meat. I hadnt hit any cheese until over halfway through and it wasnt much. TL:DR- Their customer service needs improvement, their food is OK (not great), and they need to put out a consistent product. I doubt the chimichanga is supposed to be made to the specs I received, but maybe it is. Either way, disappointing experience.

I saw the menu online and it reminded me of the old Tejas on 50th&France that went out of business in 2009. The ambiance is warm and inviting when I walked in and I was promptly greeted and seated at the table of my choice. I knew in advance the first thing I wanted to try would be the steak fajitas and I have to say it was very good and kicked up more than a notch from your standard fajitas fare at Chilis or TGIF where the steak is dry tough strings of beef whereas the Saguaro steak appears to be a small tender skirt steak cooked to order - pink medium rare inside - and already sliced into pieces against the grain. The Saguaro fajitas have the obligatory roasted/sauteed onions and bell peppers but unlike the standard Chilis/TGIF fare with the red greasy sofrito rice Saguaro replaces with a dry fluffy green herb rice and the avocados come with a tomato crema. Wish there were some fresh sliced or diced tomatoes and lettuce as well but these were missing. Since I do NOT stuff my flour tortillas to the brink of exploding so that they are more manageable to eat, the staff was nice enough to provide me with a second round of flour tortillas to complete the remainder of my fajitas gratis. The second item I knew wanted to try would be the short ribs quesadillas and these were good but I wish they were stuffed a little fuller. When I asked my waiter about green chili availability, my waiter called the chef over so I could explain what I was talking about and the chef explained that they are presently working on expanding the menu to cover more items in the coming winter. Moreover, as I was stuffed half way through the short rib quesadillas, my waiter was intuitive enough to suggest a take-out box for the remainder. So I am definitely looking forward to see if the menu does indeed expand with new items like green chili and desserts(presently missing) like flan and dulce de leche and fried ice cream with cinnamon and warm, hearty winter Mexican soups with corn, beans, squash, chilis, sausage, chicken, etc.

Had dinner with a couple girlfriends on a Wednesday evening. We arrived at 7pm and there was no wait; the restaurant was about 3/4 of the way full. Tried the house white wine which was decent. We also ordered a bottle of the Malbec and a bottle of a while wine (cannot remember the name, started with an "A") - both were pretty darn good and Wednesdays are half priced bottles of wine night - great deal! We shared the Poblano Cheese appetizer and also split a Southwest Chopped Salad as a starter. The Poblano Cheese appetizer was very good; the salad was good too, but the vinegarette dressing just wasnt my taste - both of my friends were impressed with it. For entrees, we shared the Short Rib quesadilla and it was delicious - I would definitely order that again. We each ordered a single taco as well. I had the steak taco and loved it. My friends tried the homestyle taco and the scallop taco - they both enjoyed theirs as well. We liked our server, Nick, and thought the overall service was good.

Pleasantly impressed by the taste, appearance, and freshness of the food at this fun and casual AZ-MEX eatery. Spouse and I shared a wonderful app (Elote Corn Bowl), served w excellent tortilla chips (which tasted home-made and very delicious). For entrée, spouse enjoyed the Taco Platter (1 shrimp and 1 ground beef) with 2 sides: very tasty cilantro-infused green rice and slaw (which seemed a little bland). I ordered the fish special: marvelously seasoned sautéed shrimp, accompanied by a wonderful cream sauce, green rice, and a scrumptious and generous blend of very fresh sautéed vegetables (onions, peppers, saguaro cactus, avocado). The menu is modest in scope but everything is prepared very well and presented very attractively. Our server, Nicole, was friendly and attentive. This will be our new go-to place for southwest inspired food!

I went in on Sunday 6/4 at 1:30 and it was not too busy. The waiter was rude, acted like he did not want to wait on me. When he delivered the eggs and English muffin, he just set it down and briskly walked away-not offering salt/pepper and the English muffin was not buttered, no jam. I had to ask another server for butter. He never asked how the food was, and only came back to set the bill firmly in front of me and kept walking past. The food was ok, but the experience was so bad, I wont be back. When I left a little change for a tip not deserved, he rudely said, "Thanks for the change!" I have had good experiences in the past, but this was pretty bad.
