I went here with a friend for brunch. They mention on their website that they have vegan options. The only option when we went was a bean salad and a plain scone. Both were good although nothing exciting but I dont know if I would go back with so few options. The service was also not very friendly. We were in line behind others and reading the menu since it was a first time there and one of the staff kept asking "what do you want?" and we kept saying "we are looking at the menu." No one was behind us or we would have let them go ahead of us. If you expect people to know what they want even before they get in line, menus should probably be made available. Regardless, seems like a popular local spot with nice cafe food if you arent vegan.

As much as I would love to support this place, I have been in 4 times and have been greeted by unwelcoming baristas. Not rude or anything like that , just stoic. Would it kill you to say "thank you"? NOT ONCE! Oh, wait, how about "hello". I would fire each and ever one of you if you were my employee. I feel like you are nice people who should be in the other end of the house. I literally live around the corner and I wont return. Please stop just looking at someone and saying how much they owe you and handing cash back and walking away. Im so disappointed. I am not difficult to please, and for me to be this angry is huge. Good luck and I wish you improvement.

First off, no one greets you they just stand and stare at you like zombies. And I hope you dont mind waiting 20 minutes for a ham sandwich. Told them I needed it to go cause I didnt think it would take 12 years to make and they older blonde lady gother attitude after staring at me for 5 seconds like she didnt know what I was talking about. Theres no system for anything the place is poorly ran I have no idea how theyre still in business. It smells like dirty hippies too so thats not an ideal atmosphere. Id recommend everyone to go somewhere else. The place is awful. This was 4/11/17

queer friendly. solid, reliable, cheap, great food, coffee, and people. personally I dont think the burritos are worth it, but the pizza is great and only 3.75 for like a 5x5 inch square. although that and the quiche and some other stuff changes every few days, I always love it. date bars are great and 1.75. youll always get a big portion for the price. ALSO I thought I was overcharged recently, and I was wrong, but the manager was VERY committed to resolving the issue.

On one hand the products offered here are really great. I love the great croissants, and zucchini bread. But at least 3x a week I stand in line for at least 15 minuets! And thats when there is one 6 people in line ahead of me. They need one more register to move the line quicker!!! Beyond the infuriating line this is a great local coffee/bakery. Get there early for fresh baked croissants that giveI A Bakers Wife a run for their money.

Lovely selection of baked goods - Chocolate croissant was amazing - even if it was in the day old section for $1. However, the cafe does not have enough seating for all its fans... Seems like a relaxed chill place to spend a few hours while sipping on some good warm beverages, too bad that when I went in with my friends, service was on the slower side, hence the queue wouldnt move fast enough and there was no place for us to have a seat...

Ive been going to May Day cafe since the day it opened, and have known the different people running it throughout the years. Its our neighborhoods cafe, and is emblematic of the people who live here. Giant cookies, awesome burritos, and truly some of the best croissants in the world. Im not kidding about that last one, I have never had a more satisfying croissant in my life and Ive traveled throughout the US and Europe.

Good eats and good greets. Im not sure what that review about rude baristas was talking about. Yeah, its usually crowd right around the morning hours with a line practically out the door. But came by around 4pm today with an appetite and was very happy with my caper, rosemary, garlic pizza. Cant beat 3.75 for a hunk of za!!! PS the lemon strawberry muffins are great too.

Very disorganized place. They were out of breakfast burritos so I ordered the broccoli quiche. It normally comes with a small fresh side salad, but they ran out of lettuce. The woman said she would bring it out to me. 20 min later I went to see if it was ready and she gives me the spinach quiche - NOT what I ordered. I wish I didnt come here...

I thoroughly enjoyed their jalapeno cheddar scone. Not hot, no worries, just a bit of heat and airy, not dry dense; still plenty to chew on, but you dont have to dunk it in coffee to be able to eat it. It gets better - try their crunch bar. It is wonderfully rich and nutty (almonds, sesame, flax and more) - at a great price, so tip well!

Food is pretty great hear. They do a great job with their breakfast burrito and baked items. But the service is rather awful. On several instances, they would forget to get me a drink that I just ordered. The cafe area is also rather small, although they do have reliable internet.

3rd time here and as always everything is awesome. The food, pastries, teas, coffee, even the art (they support local artists and the Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association PPNA) are awesome. Some organic choices are available. Great staff and family friendly.

Great food. We came here for a late breakfast / early lunch and found the sandwiches to be filling and satisfying. They have an assortment of good deserts as well. No complaints yet except the line was a little long due to popularity. Will be back.

i have been a huge fan of this local coffee shop since i first stepped foot in it nearly a decade ago! the biggest problem is its popularity--it is often very busy, which can result in long waits and limited seating options.

We would not miss Sunday morning quiche and salad and an occasional to-die-for cheese basil scone at May Day. No better place to read our paper, sip great coffee and see familiar faces, including the great work staff.

By far one of the best coffee shops in the Twin Cities. Delicious and affordable. It doesnt get any better than this. I highly recommend this place if you love good coffee and homemade pastries.

Go early-ish Saturday morning and get a hot almond croissant - its the best thing that will happen to you all day... mmmm.... Everything else is delicious too, but the almond croissants... sigh.

I love the small foccacia with the rotating topping combinations. Wonderful bakery. Expect to wait in line for a few minutes; you will be rewarded for your patience.
