WORST PLACE EVER!!!! My family and I went there after my sons soccer game to celebrate how great of a season he had. We had to stand in the entry way for 20 minutes waiting for a table to open up. They had a posting that Guy Fieri from Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives was there, so that seemed that this would be a great place to eat. NO CHANCE! When we finally got to sit and order the waitress was extremely rude. We waited another 20 minutes for our food and the waitress got my order wrong. Oh and get this my sister in law got chill with crackers. She opened the crackers and put them on her chilly only to find a BUG IN HER FOOD!!!! All the waitress who is aparently the manager also had to say was "Oh do you want something else?" We of course said no because we all couldnt even finish the food we had because it was so gross... The waitress/manager took the chill off the bill but nothing else even though we all clearly felt sick to our stomach after seeing the bug in the food. After the waitress/manager gave us the check she was no where to be found for like 10 minutes so we had to get up and go to the bar to pay our bill which was where she was standing. I had a coupon from the val pak that clearly says 1/2 PRICE HAMBURGER BASKET. RECEIVE A 1/2 PRICE BASKET OR $3.25 OFF so I got one burger 1/2 off but my mother in law also tried to use the coupon for her bill and the waitress wouldnt take it because she didnt order the right thing that qualifies her to use the coupon... ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?! WE SHOULDNT OF HAD TO PAY ANYTHING FOR THIS NASTY FOOD AND HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! DONT EVER GO HERE!!! OH AND MAKE SURE TO LOOK ON TOP OF ALL THE GAME MACHINES TO SEE HOW MUCH DUST IS ON THEM.... DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT THIS PLACE!!!

I have been going to 5 8 for years and have always had a good experience but the last year they have really gone down hill with the service and the food. Last time I went both my husband and I were given raw burgers, so after returning I asked for them to keep the burger on a little longer, the burger I then received was so charred it didnt even taste like a burger, all of the sauce was cooked out of the burger and my onion rings were ice cold. That was after we received pretzel and cheese as an appetizer and that was ice cold as well, when we asked for it to be heated they just brought us new pretzels and not new warm cheese? My husbands burger was again raw and his fries were ice cold. I used to love this place but I will not be returning to the Oakdale location, which is unfortunate because of the short commute. This was all after we waited at least 10 mins for someone to even greet us or ask us for a drink. We did not even receive a discount on our bill for the horrible service. I am really sorry to say I will not be returning because I know how good the food can be.

Dont listen to these crazy people that give this place negative reviews saying things like we had to wait 20 min for a table (CMON, its full what the heck do you expect??) or burgers dont even come with lettuce (tons of restaurants dont do this...and you know what? ASK for some!). In anycase this place has fantastic food that is consistently great. We always try to sit at the bar and the bartender Lisa is great. Our food is always quick and their new Inferno Juicy Lucy is insanely good! Also best onion rings with sauce on the planet. Overall this place is unique, has great service (if its not insanely busy but thats with any place), and some fantastic food.

Juicy Lucy! I dont care what all you heathens say, 5-8 is the home of the Juicy Lucy, and its fantastic. They come in multiple varieties (cheddar + bacon, marinara + mozzarella, bleu cheese, etc.), as well as a Saucy Sally (which, as far as I can tell is a regular Juicy Lucy dressed up like a Big Mac, with a tasty sauce). They have other stuff, too (open face turkey sandwich, meatloaf stacker, etc.), but if you get anything but a burger youre doing yourself a disservice. Atmosphere is what youd expect for a local bar + grill, right town to the townie clientele. But if youre looking for a beer and a burger, you want to try this place.

i dont know all these people with the bad reviews- maybe they were the location on Robert- but this location in Maplewood is the BOMB !! Weve beem going here for about 7 years - dirty table ? yeah ! they stay damned busy-if we find a booth empty and dirty - we start the cleanup for the waitress- cuz shes probably got her hands full ! Friday walleye special is awesome and Saturday shrimp speacial is amazing ! their spicey chili is to die for and the wait staff really DOES care ! This is a neighborhood diner- not the St Paul Hotel- so - join the neighborhood baby !! hugz to all the staff ! -Larry Lawler

I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the 5- Club in West St. Paul. The reputation the 5-8 Club has accumulated for burgers to what I received was VERY upsetting. The french fries were very clearly from a bag, not even worth it. The juicy itself was poorly constructed, I could still see the lines from where they brought the 2 patties together around the cheese. The meat quality itself was sub par at best. I use to work for a burger restaurant and know how these things are suppose to be done. The flavor was also lacking. A burger from the pharmacy has better flavor.

In the past the 5-8s food, and service, has been very good. Lately, they are slipping in food and service. Our cheese curds and onion rings were lukewarm. We we told they are using a different cheese and they werent hot and crisp. After finding a seat; the wait time was very long. They had only "1" waitress in the bar area. (We usually dine one the side away from the bar.) The management should have had more servers. I will try to write a followup review the next time we visit 5-8. Hopefully, there will be an improvement.

Ordered some wings, a juicy lucy and fries. The wings were the best part; very flavorful and good amount of meat on the bones. The fries were very average, but I would recommend the Jojos instead since they have more flavor. The disappointing part was the burger that they were best known for, which was the juicy lucy. It was the stale bread taste and luke warm burger that did it for me. The ghost pepper cheese in the middle was on point, but everything else was a bust.

I am sitting in my truck after having sat at a table for 40 minutes. I was finally able to flag down a waitress after 15 minutes who would only take a drink order from me. I tried for another ten minutes to order food before I decided to take my business elsewhere. Quite digusted with the service here today. Ive never had such terrible service anywhere ever. Ive been here in the past and the food is pretty good. That is if they let you order it i guess.
