My daughter and I went to Big Boy in Westland last night (3/26/15) around 8 pm for some dinner. The table that ordered ahead of us ordered breakfast items, and my daughter also ordered some breakfast items. I ordered the soup, salad, and fruit bar with an order of oatmeal. My waitress looked irritated and said shed have to make the oatmeal herself and it would be a bit. I said that was fine, I wasnt in a hurry. I went up to the salad bar and could very clearly hear our waitress complaining quite rudely that EVERYBODY had to order breakfast NOW. Why does it matter what people order??? I got my salad, sat down, and waited for my daughters and my other food to arrive. She brought my oatmeal out and it looked DISGUSTING! It was hard and you could see uncooked oats on the corners. It also tasted disgusting but my daughter took a few bites. About 8:30, they shut off the lights on the salad bar. I had only had a small bowl of soup and a small salad, and hadnt eaten my oatmeal, so I went back up for some cottage cheese anyway. Then when I went to pay, I waited at the register for over 5 minutes. During that time someone brought a customer out his to go order and three workers made eye contact with me and turned around (including my waitress). I luckily had the right amount of bills and change (was one penny over, but I didnt care at that point) so I left the bill and the money on the counter and said loudly "Heres my money, Im done waiting, bye!" I have NEVER had service like that before. It made me furious. And I dont think Ill be back to Big Boy, especially not the one in Westland.

This Big Boy needs a major overhaul and is very poorly managed. They should clean house as far as management. The floors are always dirty. I sat in a booth and there was food and crayons on the floor. The food was good, served hot, however, the servers are slow and could care less about customers. I stood at the hostess stand for at least 8 minutes while several servers walked past me and made eye contact but didnt bother to seat me. The bathrooms are disgusting and falling apart. There is no heat in the store and they instead have heaters placed around. This cant be up to code. The bathrooms have flooded out into the restaurant. They ve had sewage back up in the kitchen and toward the restaurant seating area. Yet the restaurant remains open. The booths themselves are falling apart. I had to listen to servers complain about the amount of tips they received. Its no surprise they received zero tip from me. The last straw for me was listening to the manager talk to her employees like they were two year olds. Rude and condescending. I wont be back.

Had to choose a star if not will get no stars we got seated waited 15 mins to see our waitress then we ordered our food waited another 20 mins then she came back and said would u like toast or hashbrowns and them said im putting in the order now wait what we ordered our food 30 mins ago she said i know i had to wait to put all the food in until i knew what you wanted but why did you wait 30 mins to ask then so another 30 mins past got our food and it was old nasty dryed up told the manager he said he would comp our food we said ok and we walked out and to top it off there were maybe 5 people in there eatting so its not like they were busy sucky service and food do not i repeat DO NOT GO THERE AND WAIST YOUR MONEY

PROs: Staff was friendly; food was quick. CONs: food on salad/soup bar was old & contaminated (ALL 5 of us got sick), but only 2 of us ate from it; happened to be the only real food I ate all day after flying for 7 hours. Suggestions: make sure if you watch somebody in the winter months sneeze & miss the sneeze-guard around the buffet, then do whats necessary not to make others sick (i.e. replace all uncovered items). Though you were moderately busy, the overall sanitation was poor. & DONT let your employees work, if theyre carrying flu-like symptoms. Ive never had an issue with any Big Boys in the state of Michigan until now.

Food was served to me cold had hair multiple hairs in it. When I brought it up to the female manager she began cussing at me, saying F*** every couple words. Thank the other male manager for saving the experience and correcting all the issues. Me and my family used to LOVE coming to this location, but ever since that female manager started working here, I find myself not wanting to come here anymore. She consistently causes issues with every visit and I simply dont want to deal with her horrible attitude or language. Unnacceptable. Again, thank the other manager for saving the day.

Didnt even eat...went here with my girlfriend for breakfast..place was pretty much empty one table with maybe three people..the waitress looked at us as we walked in..sign says wait to be seated so we waited and waited just to be ignored she didnt say hi just continued her conversation then went behind the counter and talked to whoever was back there..after about ten mins we left..not sure if race was a factor or us being gay...sad the world we live in..horrible place..would negative stars if i could

My family and I walked in, it went from all smiles to sad face real quick. I guess the waitress dont like BLACK PEOPLE! So we sat down and my 20 yrs old son say I dont like the looks we are getting from the waitress staff or kitchen crew. Now if a 20 yrs old man can see the change in the environment its time to go! We talked first but I could see what he was saying. So we left. Never got to eat at this place but from the reviews Im glad we didnt! Thanks to my son!

I hosted a bridal shower in the private banquet room and was very happy with the location. The manager Nancy is awesome! She made sure everything was the way I wanted, that my guests were happy, and, even helped me out with a decorating issue. Our server, Tabitha, was amazing! We kept her busy, (a lot of kids), and, she is definitely a pro at her profession, as is Nancy! Food was good, and, the bathrooms were clean. Thanks to the set up crew too!

Have all Big Boys gone to hell in a hand basket, or just this one? My meal was partially served (entree), less my frys. I was able to eat my whole entree before the frys arrived. Meanwhile, my wifes order wasnt brought out because of some issue. I finished the frys. Still no meal of any sort for my wife. She decided to cancel her order and were now going to Taco Bell to get her food.

Its Big Boy...nothing special. Until you meet the waitstaff. Went into the restaurant tonight with my son who had a hurt lip from an earlier trampoline accident. The server was so sweet to my son she brought him a glass of ice for his lip and constantly checked on him. Its the little things that can really set an average place like big boy apart and make it special.
