First and foremost, Ive traveled to many restaurants in Mexico and even more here in the U.S., and as a result have enjoyed Mexican food in its most authentic form - good food. I decided to try Lyon Cantina, because I had driven past is many times, and never stopped. Well, now I know that I had a good reason not to. Everything was subpar from the moment I arrived in the parking lot to the "stuff" I ate, hardly worthy of being called food. I ordered cheese chili rellenos, which are usually slightly breaded and pan fried or deep fried, and stuffed with Monterey Jack or Queso Blanco. The stuff I received was breaded well, but tasteless. It was covered and stuffed with what looked and tasted like shredded cheddar cheese (which it should not contain), and it was lacking seasoning (more like it had none). The salsa that covered part of my chili relleno looked and tasted like it had just been added from whatever package it had been removed from. The beans and rice were no short of this stature, both without flavor and unoriginal. In all, my feeding (because this wasnt good enough to call a meal) was terrible. Nothing about this place can be called "authentic Mexican", more fitting would be TexMex, or better yet, a bar that serves "Mexican-like" food. I was deceived by The Lyon Cantinas description, which led to my experience. I implore anyone interested in eating real Mexican food not to go to this place. You will most likely regret it.

I have no idea how there was a 4 star rating on this place unless it was a negative rating. That rating would put Taco Bell at 100 stars. I mean it SUCKED from the start of a dirty bench table with pine wood seating to to the look on the face of the nice waitress when we ordered the combination plate. Lyon Cantina was spelled wrong it should be Lying Cantina. I had a cheese enchilada that came with onions, which when done properly just melts in your mouth and the onions take it to heaven. What was laying on my plate was a quickly hardening chunk of cheese with equally crunchy onion pieces. All this covered in dollar store barbecue sauce. Even the beans could be rated in the 20 per cent or less. At least the rice was a nice color of orange. After about 5 bites I just gave up and said, this is one of those first and last places I ever go to. But still there were people in the place, they had to be quite liquored up to get the grub down though. If I were a millionaire I would hire a bus and take everyone in the place down to Mexican Town in Detroit and feed the lot their choice of South of the Border fare. Then take them back and watch them burn down this place in South Lyon.

OK - I had low expectations for this place before going in. After all, it used to be another coney place in south coneyland, mi. But I noticed the parking lot had been packed since it opened, so I figured why not. So we open the door, and WOW, it is a radical transformation from the old place. Completely redone inside, cool little bar with good drink specials (2.50 mexican beers in Dec.), upbeat music playing. Service was SUPER fast. Almost too fast... Our night out seemed like it took less than 30 minutes. Food was pretty good. Slightly better than "On the border" or another run of the mill mexican place. It is not super-awesome, but I would definitely go back. Chips and salsa left a little to be desired... Seemed like fajitas were the way to go (there was a lot of sizzling going on), but I was talked into the tres steak tacos and they were pretty good. Good beans and rice also. Overall, I am impressed. This place and the Lyon Grill are two little gems in an otherwise blah city. Hopefully, more places like this will open up soon for my dining enjoyment.

We had a horrible experience with The Lyon Cantina. We were greeted promptly and requested a booth. The host said they would make sure one was clean and would be right back, which was not a problem. We waited a good amount of time. While waiting, 2 families were seated before us that arrived well after we did and we were only a party of 2. The first family of 4 were seated at a booth right away. We waited patiently and finally were seated at a booth. While looking over the menu we waited another good amount of time hoping to be greeted by somebody. A server went by her 3 other tables around us (one which was the family that took our booth), even looked over at us, but never made sure we were taken care of. We waited to see if anyone would acknowledge us seeing this small establishment wasnt even half full. Nobody came over. We finally had enough of the neglect and decided to walk out, the host, servers, nobody said anything to us on our way out. If you would like great service and would like to be acknowledged during your meal, I would not recommend going here.

Worst experience ever! If you want to dine at a very dark restaurant where you need your cell phone just to see the menu than this is your place! Also, do not expect to have a conversation with the people at your table because it is impossible to hear them above the noise of fellow patrons trying to have a conversation. AND ABOVE ALL- DO NOT ORDER THE GUACAMOLE......YOU WILL BE PAYING $6.50 FOR SHREDDED LETTUCE WITH A SCOOP OF GUACCAMOLE ON TOP!!!! Best part ever was when I told the manager of how dissatisfied I was he didnt care.....he just wanted to continue talking with his friends!!!!!

READ---> Absolutely the worst place i have been in 10 years...food- fajita steak was tough like jerky- tortillas chewy- con queso was cheap government cheese - enchiladas tasted like 3 day old taco bell--- experience--my son is in wheelchair and we got put back in the back corner next to a window with a draft and he had wear his coat whole time-- plus his food he couldnt eat either-- DO NOT GO-- the manager (chris) is the biggest d*ck i have ever ran across in a business setting plus did not care about our complaints-- this place will hopefully shut down or get new management soon!!!

We have been patrons of the Catina since they opened we could not of asked for two more special people to become friends with. Vic and Tina and their employees go above and beyond every day with their service, food and they way that they make you feel right at home each and every time we go. Thursday nite at the Catina with WII bowling has been a hit since the Catina started it. We also enjoy the weekend entertainment they have as well. Keep up the good work Vic and Tina we enjoy all that you have brought to the town of South Lyon.

Recently visited the Lyon Cantina. Wait Staff was exceptional and the prices were reasonable. However After a pleasant experience at the restaurant i awoke the next day to the acute symptoms of food poisoning, for the next two day I was unable to leave the bathroom. The following day I returned to the restaurant and asked to talk to the manager. I was informed that it wasnt possible that the food was tainted, and that a refund was out of the question. Even if the food wasnt the cause (which it was) this was a poor way to handle it.
