We went there for dinner last week while vacationing in Marquette. The restaurant came recommended by two locals. Their website and menus claim the food is authentic Mexican, but my Irish mother makes more authentic Mexican food than what we had. To start, they brought the typical tortilla chips and salsa. The chips were good and very typical of what is normally served. The salsa they brought was rather boring and needed more flavor. It tasted like canned crushed tomatoes were mixed with a little bit of onion and garlic with the tiniest bit of cilantro. Very ho-hum. I asked if they had hot sauce we could add to it and the waitress brought both hot sauce and a spicier, smokey salsa. It tasted and looked just like a brand of chipotle salsa I buy at the grocery store. Much better, but obviously not made in the restaurant. We asked our waitress what the most popular entrees were and ordered from some of her suggestions. My husband got the Chicken Tacos (3) and I ordered the Enchilada Supreme. Both were not only disappointing, but so bad we only ate half the meal and left the rest behind (and we are not picky eaters). The chicken tacos were very bland, super watery and served on flour tortillas, not the usual corn (he wasnt offered an option for corn tortilla) with a little bit of lettuce and cheese. When my husband picked up the first taco and took a bite, all this water ran down his arm. He tipped the taco on its side and another tablespoon or so of water came out. That much water with the flour tortilla ended up with the other two tacos being a gummy mess. He started to just eat the chicken out of the tacos and leave the gummy stuff behind, but he said the chicken was very bland, with the only seasoning appearing to be salt. The chicken was also kind of rubbery and chewy. My enchiladas were disappointing, but not the gross mess the tacos were. Instead of the normal seasoning of an enchilada sauce, these appeared to just have canned tomato sauce with salt in it. Making enchilada sauce from scratch isnt that much work, but even if the restaurant didnt want to do that, there are some canned enchilada sauces that arent bad. Nope, they just used plain tomato sauce. Overall, I wouldnt recommend this place. We ended up leaving the restaurant disappointed and a bit peeved since the two entrees ended up costing us $27 (before tip) and the food was pretty bad. I have had better meals at Taco Bell.

We visited this restaurant on high recommendation by many. It took some time to be seated even though the restaurant wasnt terribly busy. After we were seated, we waited.....and waited.....no drinks, no chips, no greeting by a waiter. Finally our waiter arrived. When we asked about ordering queso as an appetizer with our complimentary chips, we were told they were out of chips. We asked, oh, why? We were rudely answered by the waiter "uh, weve been busy". There were no apologies or an offer to give an alternative appetizer. The table next to us actually were creative enough to ask for soft taco shells and salsa. We then waited an exceptionally long time to receive our drinks. Finally, we were able to order our meals and were looking forward to the meals we had heard about. The meals also took an exceptionally long time to arrive although the restaurant was fairly empty by this point. When the meals arrived they were definitely not high quality. The shrimp and scallops had a strange texture, the steak and chicken were incredibly tough, and there was a shrimp found in the chicken taco salad. The waitstaff was completely unapologetic and were rude when told about the quality of the food. I have never felt so disrespected as the waiter rolled his eyes at me while I kindly voiced my concern about the danger of shellfish in a meal where it should not be. The restaurant was beautiful as were the views. It is a shame that the customer service was terrible and the quality of the food was quite poor. We met others on the way out who had also had to return their food. Although we were disappointed, the Hardees in Marquette on the way out of town was quite delicious.

This place has been a welcome addition to Marquettes mostly overpriced and bland restaurants. The food is authentic and robust. If you must have alcohol with your meal then you are in luck. The atmosphere is modern Hispanic with a slightly rustic U.P. touch. Its loud at all times due to the high ceilings and mostly bare brick walls. The seating near the windows offers views of the marina. The service is fast and efficient, polite but slightly distant, probably owing to the dearth of Hispanics in the U.P. Overall a great place to meet friends or have an office party. Romantic dates are probably not a great idea, which is a shame since the food is so good.

Excellent food. One of the few places I truly feel like its Mexican cuisine and not just tortillas and meat. Great eating places inside and out. The margaritas are huge. The shrimp taco salad was superb as the shrimp was perfectly cooked and the greens were fresh. Actually all our food was fresh and well prepared. If you ask for something to be extra spicy, they will make it that way...really hot! Service is typically quick. Views of the bay outside are great and everything is pretty clean. You wont be disappointed.

The atmosphere is nice. The food is great and the drinks even better. Your meal starts off with chips and salsa. Nice flavor with a little kick. The waiters and waitresses all very pleasant. Our host was named Jonathan and he took our order, drinks and all for 3 of us without writing anything down. The largest group he has done that with is 12. That was good. The restaurant also has outdoor seating and tables by the window which look out lake superior. Big Windows. Great view from anywhere. A great place to stop.

This place rocks, especially now that they sell alchohol! Its packed during normal busy hours, but the dining room is large and theres a big balcony overlooking the lake. The staff is friendly, its beautifully decorated, and the food is delicious, so it makes sense why its so popular. There are great options for vegetarians and meat-lovers alike. I cant speak for the authenticity, but the waitstaff answers questions about the art and they seem to take pride in their food and work. Also, they have great ties!

It is worth the wait for a table. The food is incredible and always fast. The margaritas are a must and the view adds to the wonderful aesthetic. I only wish that the wait staff was more attentive. Whenever I go with a group of friends who are all in our twenties its as if they think we wont tip so why bother checking in on us and giving us refills. Newsflash: we do tip and we are watching when we are treated this way. If the food wasnt so wonderful I dont think I would frequent as often as I currently do.

My family absolutely loves this place. They have great food and the prices cant be beat. We end up feeding our family of 5 for cheaper than border grill (which is more of a fast food style mexican restaurant). The portions are very generous and the food is tasty. . Thely downside of this place is its size. It can get crowded during dinner rushes due to their seating capacity. And I have seen man cave bars larger than their house bar but for the space they have they use it well.
