"almost edible" is the highest compliment this place deserves for the food. my and my familys meal consisted of the fried dumplings, ma po tofu, cashew chicken, and deluxe lo mien. the fried dumplings tasted like they were out of the grocers freezer and not cooked according to package directions. the ma po tofu was... not ma po tofu but was based on something that tasted suspiciously like sweet-and-sour sauce. the cashew chicken was the best dish because of the fresh vegetables, but it was in a sauce that killed any taste it might have had. the lo mien was burned and greasy--and not enjoyably so. on the other hand, for people who dont know what real chinese food tastes like (or even good chinese-american food), this place offers prompt, friendly service; low prices; and a clean kitchen.

We had a pathetic experience: 1) We asked for Almond Chicken but instead got fried chicken which had a disgusting taste. Felt like we were gulping down just pure hydrogenated oil. We actually had to throw most of the food away. 2) They stuffed all the food in just one messy bag with all the sauces leaking to the bottom of the bag. 3) On calling the restaurant, they said that I was calling too late in the day, even though I called within 10 minutes of food delivery. On my insistence, the lady said that the owner of the restaurant would reach out to us within a short while but no one did. I would not recommend this place. Bad service, bad food.

My wife and I decided to have Chinese tonight, We went to "China Chef" and ordered Chicken Almond in stead we got greasy fried chicken, I called them and complain she said that is how we make chicken almond. I told her you are cheating people, in your menu you wrote chicken almond. because Almond is expensive you cheat people I will complain. Then she said bring it back and I will give you chicken almond. I threw it in the garbage and we felt disgusted. that people are cheating and harming people. Then I found that Mr. Akshat Sharma had the same experience.

The pricing is always different! Food is always nasty! The owners should stay out of Grosse Pointes. And go run a detroit carry out in there own city! We have been there many times and will never go back to that place. And if you decide to eat there check your bill and tax..They charge about 8% sales tax and act like they dont know english when you question them about it.

Theyre passing Ramon noodles off as lo mein noodles, big clumps of unstirred ramon noodles, the fried rice is reheated and old and the shrimp in lobster sauce is gelled oil not sauce at all and the "chicken " doesnt taste anything like chicken. Totally disappointing, awful experience.

This is by far the BEST Chinese food I have ever tasted. No matter where I move, I ALWAYS come to this restaurant. I have looked for other Chinese food restaurants and nothing compares. You get big portions and its always fresh and delicious!!!

The staff is always courteous & the food is the best Chinese food Ive ever had in my 30+ yrs of life lol highly recommended :) Oh btw- I can a large pizza & then some but China Chefs portions so generous I can never finish.

Highly disappointed! Ordered crab Rangoons & wontons & they cooked the life out of them. There was no cream cheese in the Rangoons & both were hard; Ill have to stick to Trizest. :(
