So, I used to hate sushi. My friends said that it was an acquired taste, that I would get used to the dead fish taste like I got used to beer. One of the reasons it is, in fact, hard to get an opinion on sushi is that many people have acquired a taste for bad sushi, marked by the fact that it tastes like dead fish. The Sapporo Wind, the ancestor of The Sapporo Sushi Factory, broke me of my hatred. Turns out, good sushi doesnt taste like dead fish at all. So, as I understand it, the owner of the Wind is the owner of the Factory and he is considered one of the best sushi chefs in the world. The open-faced sushi, by the way, should not be feared. It is called the Horo Special and it is delicious. The sushi chef at the Factory is experimental, and that is what sets him above and apart from others. Even his experiments taste like good, traditional sushi at their base. Having been to at least a dozen different chains including Mr. Sushi and Otani, I have to say that none of them give me that good food hum like the Factory. Customers are treated well and I like the simplicity and the comfort of the decor.

My girlfriend and I went last night. The service was good and some of the sushi was really good. However, the salmon wasnt good. It didnt even taste like salmon. I was surprised the BBQ eel was so tasty. I lived in Alaska and in Japan so I know what good seafood tastes like. I love what the Japanese lady at my local Kroger makes so I thought this would be as good or better. It wasnt. The wasabi was so damn hot I could barely stand it. I think it was too hot and I love hot stuff like hot peppers. It is too overpowering on the sushi. The prices are fair and the atmosphere is nice so I wouldnt count if off for a try. I just think the sushi could be better.

So Google says this place is closed. Its isnt, we ate there tonight. But It should be. I can get past the fact that it has tables from 1980 and the kitchen was louder than the kids sitting behind us, but the sushi was by far not as good as any place else we have been before. And the service was horrible, we had to wait more than 15 minutes just to order and when the waitress spilled water all over the floor and table, she just looked at it and left.Not to mention there was dirty walls and floors. If you can get past horrible decor then I would suggest Otanis over this. But I would choose Hama or Mr. Sushi any day. We will not be returning!!!!!

I lived in Japan for a couple of years so Im pretty familiar with the cuisine and my expectations are high. The Sapporo Sushi Factory lived up to those expectations with fantastic service, excellent food, and excellent presentation. The food is very, very close and in most cases indisinguishable from what you would be served in a fine restaurant in Japan. So if you are in the area I would definately give this place a try - I know I will be back.

All sushi rolls were warm and a little mushy. Little overpriced overall. And 2 things on their menu that scared me to death. 1 California roll with Italian cheeses and maranara. 2 Open face sushi-crispy rice with fish and cream sauce. Note: they called these two items featured items. No Japanese people working or eating there. I guess thats surburban sushi or maybe thats hillbilly fusion. I have no friggen idea.

Found this place because of the great reviews on Google and wanted to see for myself. I was not disappointed at all. Sat at the bar and had great conversation with the friendly and attentive staff. The food was GREAT. I started with the Hot & Sour soup and had two Sushi Rolls (Polaris & Birdie). Dont be deterred by the fact this place is in a strip mall the FOOD is VERY good. Cant wait to go back!

Waited for 40 minutes - then asked the waitress for a check so we can go home, she handed the plate of sushi that was sitting on the counter all this time. She apologized once and then made us take the food to go and pay the bill. Worst service I had ever experienced. Dont know if it was just for today, but I will definitely not go back. Wont recommend them to anyone.

Best sushi I have had! Was on a business trip and thought I would check it out. The dragon roll was the best one I have ever had. And the mango on sticky rice is a must try.

Great place amazing sushi and I should know Ive been to a ton of sushi places. They even wrap the rest up for you nice and neat with soy sauce and chop sticks

Karen the owner is very friendly. If you like tuna, try the samurai roll (excellent!). The only negative is the decor could use some help...

I had the chiraci. Their nicest sashimi on a bed of rice. The fish selection was minimal and the salmon had a bitter after taste.

I love this place. I have tried most sushi restaurants in Columbus and this place is the best, by far. Karen rocks!
