Best sushi in Grand Rapids. So fresh and delicious. My favorites are their classic rolls, where you can really experience the sushi rice, the nori, and the fresh fish. I tried my friends chicken teriyaki. He liked it, but I wasnt thrilled by it. Then again, I dont really see the point in going to a Japanese restaurant just to order teriyakis and fried rice. (Hes not the most culturally diverse diner.) Ive eaten here several times and have always had friendly and attentive service. There was one evening on a Saturday night a while back, when I came in at seven pm. The restaurant was full and our sushi came after about forty minutes. I didnt mind though; our server warned us about the wait beforehand, and gave us free edamame and salads while we waited. The sushi chefs (there were two of them) looked pretty stressed. I wouldnt recommend going there on a weekend, right at dinner time if youre on a tight schedule. Its not a chain restaurant or fast food. But they could definitely benefit from addng more chefs on nights like those.

I really enjoy going to this restaurant. They have fresh tasting and delicious sushi. Most of the time when I go out for sushi I will order Chirashi, so I have had plenty of variations of it. There is one place that I can think of that has a better presentation (but that does not mean there is anything wrong with theirs); however, the quality of their sushi is one of the better ones out there. My only criticism is that I have to be on watch for my server to ask for refills on my water (I rarely will order anything else when dining out). I understand they do not make any money on water, but I feel that is still a part of the service and overall experience at a restaurant. It also is a good gauge on how I will tip. Most often I will tip at least 20% at places, unless service is terrible. The better the service the bigger my tip will be over 20%, in hopes that it will be a good reinforcement for that server. :)

I went here for dinner for my birthday with a Groupon and without a reservation. Our waitress was very accommodating by allowed us the Groupon and politely requested us to make a reservation next time. I had a little bit of everything including tuna, salmon, and halibut. It was all very fresh and tasty. The appetizer, soup, and salad were also delicious but presented very quickly one after the other before I was able finish the previous "course." Our waitress was kind enough to bring a small green tea ice cream roll that was excellent as well. I would very much like to come back sometime to try more.

The decor is charming with nice mood lighting and quiet soothing music. I was recommended the udon here and Im very glad I got it. The udon was packed full of tempura veggies (sliced into strips) and a very crispy tempura shrimp. There were also plenty of veggies in the broth with the noodles (maybe a tad too many). However the star of the udon was the broth. The broth was heavenly. It was sweet and had a very rich flavor. I could not stop drinking it. This may have been the best udon Ive ever had.

My sushi came with a side salad that looked good...you know, simple salad. As I began eating it, I noticed a long string of hair in my dressing. I brought it to the waiters attention and.... that was it. No deep apology, no 15% off my bill... I mean I did just pay for a salad that was unedible, did you forget when you printed out my bill? The food as alright and good presentation, but sincerely caring about the customers experience isnt on the menu.

Just went to Sushi Kuni for the 1st time today with the wife during a Saturday afternoon. The sushi was VERY DELICIOUS! We ordered three rolls, a philly roll, a calamari roll and one of their specialty "Vegas" rolls. All were awesome, our favorite was the Vegas roll and would recommend it to anyone who visits. We were impressed with the nice warm atmosphere and great food....well be returning time and time again.

A great place to dine with friends or family to satisfy your craving of sushi or just to have an all-around good meal. There are plenty of options, the prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious. Plus, the servers and staff are awesome :-). Last, but not least, its a Pokestop/Gym with discounts for those trainers who can make their way to the top ;-). Highly recommended.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience here! We got 2 hand rolls, the 007, salmon skin roll, magaro and shiro magaro sushi. Everything was great, especially the magaro! The tuna was fresh and melted in our mouths! It was our first time here, and I would have to say it is now our favorite in Grand Rapids! We will definitely be back!

We have been to nearly every sushi restaurant in the Grand Rapids area. Sushi Kunis food and presentation far exceed every other place. Maru Sushi is similar in quality, but more expensive. Get their bowl of nigiri, and their special rolls, especially the ones loaded with fresh seafood. It is phenomenal, and perfect for every occasion

We had a *very* long wait during a dinner with the restaurant only 1/2 full. Easily over an hour from order to food arriving. Waitress rarely stopped by during the wait. Was almost ready to walk out when the food arrived. Food was so good, theyre getting 4 stars! Only go when you have time on your hands and no kids!

Cozy little sushi restaurant with nice décor. The miso soup was a little salty (I didnt mind that), but the sushi we ordered was superb. The daily special had a very tasty chili sauce that came with it, the Monkey Roll. Friendly staff and decent prices for sushi, I would highly recommend checking this out for sushi.

Been there twice now. Sushi is fresh and very well prepared. Everyone is very polite and humble. First time, the server took some time getting my order but she discounted some of the items I ordered; very sweet. Second time was even better, the service was quick and as usual the sushi was fresh.

The food is decent but I was there with a few of my girlfriends when it wasnt too busy and it took almost an hour for our sushi to come out, and our waitress kept forgetting the same roll in the kitchen. If you have time to spare and looking for okay food Id recommend this place.

Easily one of the best meals I have ever eaten. I have eaten here once before and when I was back in the area, I made it a point to bring my girlfriend. It was excellent the first time. The second time was even better. I think we have found our new favorite sushi spot.

Bibimbap! The food here is great. Ordering simple mixed drinks not on the menu have seemed to confuse staff on more than one occasion for some odd reason so I just get soju. Generally low key and quiet enough to have a conversation without yelling. Yay!
