Ok... Let me preface this review with the fact that I absolutely love Korean food. It is my favorite ethnic food of all time. I grew up eating it and I think its just the best food ever. I could eat it every day and not get tired of it. My absolute favorite Korean restaurant is a little hole-in-the-wall place on the south side of Columbus, GA called Golden Chopsticks. If youre ever in Columbus, its worth your time to go there. Anyway, Ilmee is the only Korean restaurant in the metro area that Ive been to, so I have no place (locally) to compare it to. I have heard that the best Korean restaurants in the metro are over on Buford Highway, but I really dont have any intention to drive there to find out (though, maybe I will some day) since I dont live anywhere near there. So, as far as Korean food goes, Ilmee is good. Not the best Ive ever had, but good. The bulgogi (beef) and yaki mandu (fried dumplings) are my favorites. If you dont live anywhere near Buford Highway, and dont plan to make that trip, but you have a craving for Korean, Ilmee is definitely worth your time. Another plus is that (at least the two times that Ive been there), theyre not terribly busy, so you wont have to wait to get a seat.

I love this place! A friend and I visited Il Mee yesterday. Its a cozy, family oriented restaurant located at the end of a plaza. We were seated immediately, and our waitress was very nice and friendly. Ive had Korean before, but this was my friends first time. We ordered warm sake, spicy bulgogi, and regular bulgogi. (The spicy bulgogi made us dance it was so good, def recommend) Along with our orders came rice and banchan, including two types of kimchi, fish slices, and varying radish dishes. Radishes are not a part of my diet, but they will be now!! The waitress was so helpful; she encouraged us to try everything, use mainly chopsticks, and instruct us on how Koreans eat...by stacking rice, meat and banchan for a full flavor bite than eating everything separately. We also liked the atmosphere; they recognized the frequents and even asked about family and life, in detail. We all laughed at the light jokes made between the servers and other tables. We loved our experience, THE FOOD MOST DEFINITELY, and we will be back!!!!

Staff a bit standoffish but warmed right up after they saw my tip. I always tip well as a former waitress myself. Was given a courtesy cup of tea while I waited for my to go order but it tasted like weak, watered down coffee. Bibimbap had iceburg lettuce (no, no, no) and a small amount of beef. Bulgogi order was skimpy!!! Korean egg rolls barely had any filling in them. The Kimchi jjigae was good. The Banchan was skimpy too given all the different dishes I ordered. Kimchi was too fermented for my taste. I like crispy kimchi. I spent over $75 and just was not happy. It was better the first time I had ever gone there. Not sure what happened since then. Still, the traditional Korean food was tasty. Will stick with the Korean Barbecue ATL on Sandy Plains. They always make me feel welcome without being overbearing.

This place is amazing. One time I went there I was complimented on my awesome use of chopsticks, the next week I deeply offended the same server by mixing the little dishes in with my meal and she let me know. Its not americanized at all, and thats what makes it different. I would totally take a date there, I might not go there for a business lunch. 5 stars for the culture, 5 stars for the food, 5 stars for the price. update: im now 1 for 3 about good table manners at this place. DO NOT EAT THE RICE WITH CHOPSTICKS! set them down and use the spoon. i feel like i the most honest review about this place would begin with: "have you ever wanted a surrogate Vietnamese mother for an hour? Boy do i have the place for you!" regardless, i have no regrets about this place. i love it.

Ill Me is more like it! I have been up and down Cobb Parkway before and noticed this place. We decided to give it a try and see what we thought in comparison to Korean restaurants on Buford Highway. The food was below average. The bulgogi portion size was a real shock! It came out on a cast iron serving tray which is typical. The tray was 4" x 6" at best. I did order the lunch special but this was an appetizer portion.Banchan portions were small too. We overhead another table with similar sentiments about the portions. The bibimbap portion was typical but meat was hard to find. The place was clean and the service was average.I recommend the drive over to Buford Highway. I dont think Ill consider another visit.

Pretty good for having eaten Korean everyday for 2 years. All homemade pan chan, and extra rice is free (important). She will correct you on your Korean table manners but it comes from a good place, it just sounds awkward! Didnt get a refill on my tea, but the tea is good. Yoo kae jang was very tasty, although got some sass when I asked it for Korean spicy. In my defense, Ive been to other restaurants with my Korean friend where the waitress asked my friend if I wanted it less spicy. Never been to Korea, but still pretty knowledgeable. Would return, but would skip the appetizer.

I absolutely love this place. Its a quaint little Korean restaurant run in a strip mall on Highway 41. Lately Ive been going weekly for lunch and ordering a different dish each time. I loved the goat soup, the soft tofu soup, the pork bulgogi and the bibimbap. On Sunday afternoon the church in the store next door makes it noisier and makes you have to park around the back of the building, but it didnt bother me. The school marm like Korean ladies who run the place are efficient and will help you in broken English (or fluent Korean) if you ask for help.

Ive been going to Il Mee since 1997. My wife and since 2005. Been to many, many korean restaurants in numerous states and none can touch Il Mee, not even Buford Highway. While the dishes most Americans eat such as Be Bim Bop and Boolgogi are terrific, the mainly Korean dishes like O Jing O Bokum and Bibi nyung mim (spelling?) are literally out of this world. service is excellent prices reasonable. Never tried Korean or if youre a lover of Korean food, this is the place for you

Living in Korea, I wanted to share my love for Korean food when I went home to visit my parents for the holidays. The food is as authentic as it gets. Their spicy squid and seafood pancake are outstanding. Our server was making a lot of jokes that could be taken the wrong way by someone who is sensitive, but it was very obvious that she wanted nothing but for us to have a great experience. I would definitely recommend this place for someone wanting authentic Korean food.

As a [former] restaurant waitress I love the service. I HATE hovering and frequent check ins. I feel like it interferes with the flow of my meal. I came to eat, not to be "served". I dont want to talk to them or engage in idle chit chat, I want to enjoy my meal with the people I came with. With that being said, I love Korean food with a passion. I really enjoyed my visit here and will be going again. Its fresh, flavorful, authentic and the portion size was generous.
