Ok. My first Google review and this is to counter what others may have said. I am not speaking about the Japanese steakhouse. I have never tried it. I am going to talk about the Chinese side (in the back.) All I can say is this is hands down one of the best places for Chinese. Everything is fresh, the serving staff are ALWAYS kind and attentive. I have been going here for 4 years and I especially love eating lunch because it is served so fast. I have been desperately trying to like sushi and have been to several places around town to try and learn about it and I LOVE the sushi here. I cannot stand it anywhere else. It always tastes cold and too fishy. I had Salmon, Tuna and Ebi Nigiri at mostly room temperature and it was awesome! the chef was very informative and understanding of my ignorance. The Wasabi was real and kicked my butt (which I loved) Trust me on this: I know my (Western) Chinese. I am a regular dude. This is the best place to eat Chinese in West Michigan... and Ive been to them all. The least I can do after receiving such pleasant service over the years is help them out.

I have always had great service at this restaurant. Years ago I ate here frequently - the food was wonderful. Maybe it still is and I just dont order the right entrees but a few years ago they changed their menu and I havent really enjoyed it ever since. I keep going back because I get very hungry for Chinese food and keep hoping it will live up to my expectations - but it never has. What is wrong? Too much sauce. Ever since they changed to luncheon plates Ive found that my favorite entrees are swimming in sauce. So much so that it ruins the egg rolls and anything else I decide to have. Did they also get a new cook? Whatever. Im just sorry to say that I consider it to be only OK now - whereas before it really was the best Ive ever had. This is in reference to the Chinese food only - Ive never eaten on the Japanese side of the restaurant.

We have had dinner at Ichiban many times in the Japanese portion of the restaurant. The food and service are top notch. They always prepare the food correctly. I kind of like the idea of seeing exactly the raw ingredients that are put into my meal. No surprises. The chef was polite and entertaining. My steak was done just right. I have no affiliation with this or any other reataurant. Sometimes I think that people who give really good reviews or really bad reviews are somehow affiliated with the restaurant or its competitors. I have no such interest. I highly recommend this restaurant especially for special occasions such as birthdays. My kids love it.

If you like Hibachi this is the place. Ive been to Fugi Yama as well and while Fugi is definitely less expensive the ambiance does not compare. Ichibans chefs seem more outspoken and skilled. They have a panache that I didnt see at Fugi. Ive had the steak at both--after coming here the steak at fugi tasted bland. The reason for only 4 stars is the price. If you find a coupon for fugi it is nearly half the cost of this place. I feel you get what you pay for though--if you want the best hibachi go here, if you want ok hibachi go to fugi but dont expect to be amazed.

Food is good customer service sucks and of course you can barely understand them.

I am often reluctant to eat at these places because of a fish allergy so had never tried Hibachi until my husband brought me here. The staff is very accommodating and didnt hesitate to let me know they would cook my food separately in the back. The timing was perfect and the meal was still hot. The food was excellent. I find myself going here frequently and I have never had a poor experience. The chicken hibachi is my favorite.

I can, however speak for the Japanese side. Its what they are known for. I suggest the filet. Everyone gets fresh cooked shrimp, fried rice ,soup, salad and awesome stir-fried vegetables. I have been to lots of Japanese Steakhouses in the world, and this is one of the best. As for the show, well, I have never been disappointed.

Awesome! Extraordinary! Superb! GRR is nearby, so Ill be working in a visit here when I travel or meet travelers arriving at the airport. I ordered Pad Thai, delicious. I am looking forward to trying out the Japanese grill /entertainment, sushi, and Chinese dishes. A great restaurant, moderate prices. Yes!

Amazing service here!!!! I am a vegetarian but I ate with my family who said that although it tasted good, the chicken wasnt cooked as much as they liked. Despite that we all had a great time. The food was delicious and our server was so friendly and fun. She gave us flowers and extra food on the house.

I politely asked the manager, in person and during a slow business time, if they use latex (as opposed to latex-free) gloves in the kitchen. He was rude and confrontational, in response to my allergy-related question. I left feeling unwelcome, and still.wondering about the answer to my question.

Been here many times and its always a great experience and great food. Dinner and entertainment in one package. Great place for a first date (Japanese Steakhouse side). Took my wife there for our first date and it couldnt have been a better choice. Try it, you wont regret it.

All of the food is pretty good except their crab ragoons. They are horrible tasting. Crab Rangoon should have a sweet taste. Theirs do not. They are disgusting. I always have to go to 2 different restaurants when I want food. I order my ragoons for tea garden up the road.

I had a hair in my rice. The server just took the rice without saying anything. 15 minutes later when I was getting ready to pay my bill she apologizes. However she implied that the hair was my kids. I paid for the meal I didnt eat and left the place. Will never go back
