We were told when we made the reservation that they would not split the bill so everyone in our group had to bring wads of cash to downtown Detroit to pay for their dinner. Then when we got there we had to wait for almost 30 minutes while they "got our table ready". But isnt that the point of having a reservation? So the table is ready when you get there? Apparently not here. When they finally said our table was ready they tried to seat the 9 of us at a tiny 6 person table. We were trying to all squeeze in to fit but then there was another group at a larger table who offered to switch tables with us because our group was larger. They had just sat down and only had drinks so we thanked them and switched tables. But you would think the hostess would have known we had more people so she should have given us the bigger table from the start. The waiter was fine, but the management was terrible. When they brought our groups food out it was all wrong. There were 7 people in our group who ordered burgers, 5 of them ordered truffle fries. The only person who ended up with truffle fries was one of the 2 people who didnt even order truffle fries. And then there were 2 people who had their burgers incorrect. Our friend has a food allergy and cannot have a bun with his burger and cannot have bourbon. The first time his burger came out it had a bun, they took that one back and brought him his second burger that had bourbon soaked onions even though he did not order bourbon soaked onions and he is allergic and would have gotten sick. So they sent the burger back again and he had to wait. He told us to start eating and although we felt badly we started eating because we didnt want our food to get cold. The other friend who had her burger wrong too had to send her burger back once. But when it came back the second time it was almost correct except for the fact that they didnt put avocado on it. The manager brought our friends burger out and an extra order of fries, but seeing as half the people were done with their food and they brought his burger out incorrectly 2 times already you would think they would have taken his burger off the bill. But when the bill came at the end they did not. That is poor management. If you make a mistake you make it right. And no one at our table thought that was right. The only reason I didnt insist on speaking to a different manager or someone else higher up then and there is because it was our friends birthday and we had somewhere to be by 10:30. My husband and I ended up paying $100 for our meal which was mediocre at best. He got a $22 burger and fries and it was just ok. We also had a few beers which were good but expensive. I got a sushi roll and the Mac and cheese. Both were just ok. I would not go back here, not only because they clearly dont care about their customers and making things right with them but their prices are expensive and things were just ok. There are other restaurants I would much rather go to and spend our money.

Some friends and I decided to go to the townhouse for my birthday. First off when we got there, we had reservations for 8:45 didnt get seated till 9:25. When we got to our seats we were bummed because we werent even in the cool garden room but it could have been our fault we didnt request it. The menu is a little confusing so we said to our waiter "could you explain to us what the menu means we dont get it?" and he just goes "well you have to tell me what you are considering eating" in a very snarky voice. We were set back by that. Then my friend(because she had wisdom teeth pulled a couple days before) asks "is there soup on the menu" waiter responded with a "Nope". Wow thanks so much, sir. The night went on and we were continually asking him for napkins, utensil, water, and he actually acted annoyed about his job?... My friend later surprised me by asking the waiter if they had birthday dessert specialties like with sparklers like we saw in pictures from previous customers and he said to her "Ive never seen that type of thing here" so he told her he could bring me a desert. About 20 minutes later a random waitress came up and set a blue berry cheesecake ice-cream in front of me and just smiles, walks away, and we notice wow we dont even have spoons. 5 minutes go by and our actual waiter comes up and goes "who brought that to you?" then sees we dont have spoons and walks away to get some. He comes back and my friend says "do you guys have like a candle or something?" he walks away and comes back with an unlit little candle and literally sets it down next to my ice-cream. I was in shock we actually started laughing hysterically because that moment truly topped off our night at the townhouse. The whole Townhouse experience was a joke and a half. Maybe we were treated badly because we didnt order alcohol but if thats the truth then I feel bad for people that care so much about their tip percentage. All in all, I wont be going back there again.

We have a reservation for 4PM and were not seated until 4:45. The the waiter proceeded to take twenty minutes to come and ask for our drink orders. We decided to order then since I was hoping to leave originally by 5:30PM to head back to Chicago. 20 min later our waiter comes back and says they ran out of mac and cheese and asks my friends to order something else and tells all of us that he did not put in any of our orders in the 20min it took for him to discover that the kitchen was out of mac and cheese. It is now past 5PM and new menu is out. The waiter asks if we all want to reorder but all we want is our food as we have now been at the restaurant for over an hour. We eventually got our food around 5:30PM. No one was any bit impressed. I got the chicken and waffles and they were fine. I wanted more syrup but the waiter was not to be seen. My friends burger was over done. My other friends burger was not correct. We all finished our food before six but again our waiter was not to be found. We went to the bathroom after waiting and looking for our waiter for 20 min and when we came back he was like ohh where have you been... We were gone for 2 min and he acted like we were the ones he was waiting on. This is my first google review and I am writing it because of the absolutely terrible service I received at Townhouse this weekend. My friend said this is not the first time this has happened to her at Townhouse and said she wished she has warned me before we made the reservation. Only good part of the restaurant was the decor but it was ruined by lack luster food and TERRIBLE service. I would recommend it to no one. Update: Jeff the Director of Operations reached out to me and apologized for the service problems I encountered. I appreciate the time he took to ask more about my experience. I will be returning to Townhouse and updating my review after. I hope my next experience is better!
