I have absolutely nothing good to say about this place. So you can skip the rest if you want to, but please also skip this place if youre downtown Detroit. We went with a group of about a dozen people before a Tigers game - they were maybe half-full, and now I understand why. With large parties I guess the gratuity is automatic, so maybe that played into this a bit. Three pizzas and salads were ordered for the table, and most everyone ordered alcoholic drinks, but my 6-month pregnant wife decided to have a pasta dish. The pizzas arrived, but after a half hour her pasta dish still hadnt come. I had to hunt down the server twice, and both times she said it would be right out. Meanwhile our group was feeling guilty eating their pizza while my pregnant wife sat and watched. Finally I asked to see a manager, because he hadnt bothered to come by to even offer an apology or explanation why it was taking so long. He never did visit the table. And he only took off the desserts from the bill after I ASKED him to - if I hadnt we probably wouldve paid for everything INCLUDING my wifes pasta dish that didnt even end up tasting good. How pre-cooked pasta with a little sauce and some melted cheese takes nearly an hour to arrive to the table is beyond me - I couldve run to the store, made it home, heated the sauce, boiled the pasta and made this faster than it took them. So you know, if youre still reading this, Ive worked in restaurants, so I did the very civil thing and wrote an email explaining our disappointing visit to the PizzaPapalis website, but after a week I NEVER GOT A RESPONSE. I understand mistakes happen, but there are ways to handle it and ways not to. Since they decided to not even acknowledge my email, now Im letting everyone else know what happened so they can avoid this place. If you want pizza, swing by and get a $5 Hot & Ready - itll taste better and youll get better service. What a joke this place is. I guess since theyve got a spot in Greektown they dont have to worry about customer service or repeat business at all. They definitely lost mine and Im going to go out of my way now to let everyone I know to avoid this restaurant. Therere a lot of great choices in downtown Detroit, and this is definitely not one of them. I wish I could give them a negative score - they only got 1 star so I could even post this review. What a joke.

RODENTS: I used to work here and with all honesty a rat ran on my foot to the back of the kitchen in the middle of me giving change to a customer. I screamed and the customer was confused, I almost told her what had just happened but two servers on the side told me to shhhhh. What disappointed me about this situationn is that no one saw it happen except a few of the staff. It was so busy but no one noticed. For a while after working there I felt really bad for knowing that kind of information and not doing anything about it I didnt know how to go about the situation and what exact calls to make and I was scared because I didnt want to lose my job. The food here is great but not the atmosphere its made in. After moving on to another jod, I started to learn more about my rights and brought my attention to laws in the restaurant business and this business is horrifying when I think of how all the rodents recognized in this place have the potential to carry diseases and get civilians sick. Its really uncalled for when most people dining in and out are paying $50 + on their meals for possible disease intake. There is no reason why Pizza Papalis should charge that much for their pizzas and they cant seem to enforce pest control. There is definitely no reason why rodents should practically attack staff or customers of that matter.

My friend and I were visiting Detroit on a Friday night from out of state and decided to eat here. We found the service Awful (see below) and pizza very greasy. First, we were rushed even though it wasnt closing time yet...What is worse, at the end when the the server (white male about 57) brought the check, I wrote in the tip and he immediately dived towards the table and said "thank you" and quickly grabbed the check and sprinted to the cash register. I noticed all the servers at the cash turned around and stared at us for some reason. When I got a chance to look at the receipt, I realized THEY HAD ALREADY ADDED 20% TIP!!! I have never seen anything so moronic, cheap, boorish, presumptuous and RUDE! And what is worse is that this moron was carefully eyeballing me when I was signing the check and filling in the tip, to make sure he gets the ADDITIONAL tip that I wrote in before I realized that these A--holes have already added tip! I would never have given these cretin the additional tip if I knew they had been so callous to go ahead and add it to the price of the food. Whatever you do in Detroit, AVOID THESE STUPID CROOKS!!

Does take a while for service. Hour+ for pizza and waitress only came by twice during that time, in there defense it was pretty busy but at least keep the drinks full during the long wait. We didnt have time to eat there because of time constraints and had to take our pizza to go because of long wait. What I did notice.... no one on the prep line wears gloves, and only two of the seven working the line were wearing hats/hair restraints. Even the females werent wearing hats or hair ties. I thought this was a health code requirement. The guy prepping the dough is throwing the dough over top of the other guys and against the brick wall so it lands on a stainless steal shelf. Just doesnt seem like the cleanest thing to do since the prep guys will throw extra dough back to be reworked into the next dough ball. Kinda turned me off to the whole experience.

I ate their after I went to the Lion game. I order ed a Papazone Crizone and the dough on the bottom was raw. I waited an hour door my food and it was raw. The other two customers that accompanied me ordered a salad and small pizza. The pizza came out before my food did. I saw other customers who arrived after me and ordered pizzas and were able to get their food before mine. I refuse to believe that a "raw" Crizone takes longer than a pizza. I called the restaurant today, the woman who answer the phone didnt give me a chance to finish what I was trying to say. It doesnt matter if my food was order the day after, RAW DOUGH IS RAW DOUGH. End of the discussion, I dont want my money back, I dont want another one. I want to talk to the owner of the place, so I can receive some clarity of WHY DID IT TAKE SO LONG FOR MY FOOD TO COME OUT AND IT WAS STILL RAW.
