This Soul food had Soul! I had baked tilapia and salmon patties. They were both well seasoned and perfectly done. The candied yams were great, as they tasted like they were seasoned with cinnamon and nutmeg and and there were many other sides to choose from. My friends really loved the seasoning and flavors of the ribs, fried chicken and wings. Especially the shrimp scampi! There is a wide variety of cheesecakes Key Lime, Apple Crumble, Banana, strawberry, cherry just to name a few and a variety of other desserts like 7-Up pound cake, peach cobbler and German Chocolate cake. All of them were really great. Three bonuses: I felt great about supporting the community, I was able to make requests to cater food to my dietary needs and it was really large portions for what seems like a ridiculously small price! The food is freshly made with fresh ingredients and friendly service.

This place serves the sort of cuisine that foodie guru Michael Pollan would recommend - - food your great-grandmother would recognize and prepare. Real lettuce. No artificial anything. Im a connoisseur of collard greens, and these are the best Ive eaten.

They catered the dinner after my grandmothers memorial service on 10/31/12...everything was fantastic!!! From the food to the personal service that the staff showed us. Thank you and I will be returning to support this establishment.

The best food i ever had, excellent service. Very hip restaurant better than motorcity, steves soul food and all the others. Stop wasting your money on the benihanas and come to cafe sonshine for better value

What a wonderful discovery and alternative to the fast food lanes! Nice portion for a large garden salad and small red beans & rice! I will definitely patronize this business in the near future.
