We regularly go to Shogun to eat out on the weekends. Ive had spectacularly good meals and just terrible meals...it usually comes down to the server/waitress. And dont expect to get to sit down just because you have a silly thing like a reservation....weve had reservations and had to wait almost an hour "for the table to fill". Yet, other times we waited all of ten minutes and they started taking our orders and cooking. Its really a roll of the dice. It has been great...and it has been terrible; usually its pretty good. The management and staff are really pretty unprofessional but the chefs all seem to do a good job. I remember one time we had a problem with being billed for an extra order of shrimp we didnt actually order; we asked to speak to a manager and the waitress brought back her "manager"...who was another waitress in street clothes. We knew the woman was a waitress from being fairly regular diners. That all being said, Im on the way there now to take everyone out for Mothers Day...Im crossing my fingers. I should mention that we always do the hibachi so I have no idea what the regular table service is like.

After a so so meal waitress very slow and inattentive the place was empty (it was empty because of the service and not very good food) We ordered a meal for 2 ...when leaving we used our group- on payment slip and girl at register was ringing this up ...coupon was good for 30.00 bill was 45.50. I gave the girl my amex card for the balance when our waitress and as it turned out the owner told the girl we couldnt use the group on for our bill it was her rule. We were totally unaware of this. We told her she made the rule and we were unaware, she wouldnt budge. She broke the bill down to make everything we had a separate line charge which came to an additional 4.00, but doing this she made us feel terrible like we were cheating!! Needless to say she didnt get the 20% tip I always leave (unless it was terrible service) So we actually came out ahead by 6.00 We will never return it was a very bad experience Tom and Louise (Pinckney Mi)

Decided to try this for the first time. This was at 5pm. Walked in and there were only maybe 3-5 tables occupied. It took a few minutes before anyone acknowledged us coming in. We opted for the "Chinese" option, you cant order one or the other. The attention from the waitress was below average, when it was time to order we asked a couple simple questions, but I think there was a translation gap. When we asked about green/red peppers in a certain dish, waitress stated there were and so we requested no peppers. Next was X dish, was it spicey? "Yes the beef X is spicey", Ok Ill have that, but I want chicken, not beef. (meat selections are given as options). Note: The waitress at no time wrote anything down. When the meals came, they both were incorrect, The first one had peppers, the other had beef not chicken. They were both overly sauced too. We will never go here again, overly priced, average food, with below average service.

Truthfully, I have wanted to stick it out with Shogun for *so long.* The concept of a place where I can pick up sushi for myself and Chinese for my family (who dont eat sushi) is so very appealing. The sheer number of times that theyve screwed up my order though is actually mind-bending. Whats more, they dont seem to actually care that they screw up. This last time, they forgot to include rice (what?!?!) in my order and the fortune cookies were inedible (just shy of moist). When we called to explain that we had to make rice at home while our food got cold because they had (once again) messed up our order, they would not offer a credit but instead promised that the next time we came in, they could offer us extra rice for no charge... well, thats just... not helpful at all. Thanks, Shogun. Ill be getting my sushi and Chinese at separate venues now just to avoid the disaster that is this place.

I went to this place today for dinner to try it out using a Groupon I bought. We ordered four sushi rolls (3 special rolls and 1 regular). The sushi was good. Our waitress was personable and prompt. My problem is two-fold. 1) This wasnt a good value compared to other sushi restaurants Ive tried. At Sagano, for instance, they include tea, salad, and soup with your meal... no charge! This place offered no such perks. 2) The management unilaterally changed the redemption process of the Groupon. They required that the Groupon be printed, even though that is not stated on the voucher and not the normal process for redemption. If the management of Shogun wants to try to make this up to me, Ill listen to their offer, but I dont hold much hope of that happening. Sagano offers consistently good service, great sushi, and a good value compared to this place. Sagano has nothing to fear from Shogun!

Great food, horrible service. Im not saying young people are incapable of working hard, but the management team clearly has a knack for early 20s eye candy, but then does not bother to invest any time into training them. When I have to walk around to the bar to find two girls on their phones, then ask them to pick up my carryout, that is a reflection of the sheer ineptitude that is this locations management team. Dining in is similar to everyone else who wrote a review. The waitress actually argued with my cousin about her order one time and yet again, any management team with a double digit IQ would have adequate training for any employee interfacing with customers. Corporate management ought to fire this branch manager if they have any interest in profiting from this location, there is too many good restaurants in Brighton for a place like this to survive.

My son Tom and his girlfriend Stevie went there and said the food was great, the service was great. After reading all the bad reviews about the place, i was hesitant in going and figured try it out myself. Where those bad reviews came from I have no idea because we went there today with Tom and Stevie and the food was awesome, the amount of food was big, the waitress we had was great, the cook was tremendous and the atmosphere was pleasant. Do yourself a favor, dont listen to the reviews, not even my review of this place. Try it out yourself. We like Blue Fin in Howell, that place is awesome, but the Shogun runs a close 2nd.

The place looks really nice, but in reality, its all nothing more than fake appearances. First off, my coffee was brought to me colder than the water I ordered with it, but Im not a complainer, stuff happens, no big deal, I waited for a new one. The thing that broke the deal was that the food I ordered was generic chinese you could get at any hole-in-the-wall takeout place with a lovely twist; it was so salty, I couldnt even eat it! To top everything off, the waitress didnt know her head from a hole in the ground. With prices like that, I would expect a lot better. SHAMEFURU DISPRAY

This place is terrible and well never be back. We arrived at 5:00pm on Saturday and were the only customers. It took the staff about 10 minutes to finally put their phones down to ask us what we wanted to drink and when we finally got our food, you could tell by the smell and taste that it wasnt fresh. I watched the little Asian cook leave the kitchen after he threw our food together and lay down on the couch in the lobby. He watched a movie on his phone while our server did the same... Save yourself the frustration and probable abdominal cramping and go somewhere else.
