A year ago, I went here with my girlfriend and gave them a scathing 1-star review (mentioning it wouldve been a half-star rating if I could for their slow service, propane-marinated flavor, a charred-to-the-core burger, and unapologetic reparations for messing up our order twice.) Even with such a bad first experience, I returned today (August 4, 2017) to give them another chance and to see if they had improved any... And as you can see, Ive bumped it up to a fair 3-star rating. I ordered a custom item (a chicken club with no cheese) and it came to me topped with their one-and-only available cheese: American (Yuck! The worst of all cheeses within the cheese kingdom. Thus why I order without it so I can go home and add my own cheese like Swiss, Gouda, Muenster or Havarti). Seeing the artificially-dyed cheese melting out of my sandwich, I immediately turned around and parked my car at the farthest end of the lot (I also took a moment to eat my side snack wrap in the car because I was too hungry to wait) and then began my trek toward the restaurant. As I reached the front steps, a manager and a cook walked outside to greet me at the curb (I assume they saw me from the window and rushed out.) They asked if there was a problem with my order to which I showed the receipt with the words "No Cheese" written in the second line . The managerial fellow took my entire Styrofoam carton (with the 3 chicken nugget side included) and rushed it into the kitchen. At this moment, I feared a repeat of yesteryear... a silent, glazed-over, empty-eyed stare from the cashier while I waited 45 minutes for my food to return. But, to my relief, the other employee actually talked to me to indicate he could see me! Whats more, he offered a milkshake for my trouble! I informed him that I never had one of their shakes before (the last time I ordered one I canceled it after waiting 35 minutes for it.) 8 minutes later, I had my chicken sandwich without cheese, my three chicken nuggets AND an extra/replacement snack wrap along with a free "banana peanut butter fudge" milkshake. Much better reparations than I even wanted! My sandwich was noticeably better as well. It tasted like it was only "kissed" by propane rather than dredged through it. The bottom of their weak bun was still soggy and dissolving fast as I glanced over it in the car (and was complete mush when I got home to add Swiss cheese.) I cant complain about the sides; for I do so enjoy their many "non-potato" side options to choose from. And their choice in Kens BBQ sauce was nice. The speed of their service was also remarkably fast, as was the reparation time. I was certain I was going to return today unimpressed and leave my review unchanged, but after seeing how much they tried to make it right- I was moved to revisit this review in a lighter tone.

The past two times I ate there it was the same disappointment. I ordered the Huge Burger, with mayo, mustard, lettuce, pickles and grilled onions. This was horrid. I about chokes. Mayo and mustard not enough to even flavor..if it was there at all; one tint piece of very wilted lettuce, not even covering the patties. I promise I had TWO tiny pieces of grilled onions and 1 shaved tiny pickle. Thought perhaps this was a bad day and my mobility would not allow me to take it inside. I even tried to give you a second chance and it was the same way. Might as well had 2 patties stuck between 2 dry buns. since the huge burger is the only one I found that looked fresh made..not frozen patties, for the price I was extremely disappointed. When one orders whatever on their food, they want to know it is there and taste it. We are paying for it. I tried to give a fair chance, but Two different tries and things the same way let me know this is the norm, Love the taste of the patties, but not the choking dryness due to stinginess and failure to put ordered condiments on it. I was excited after the first one in Gainesville, but on the second one from there being as in Oakwood, I have just given up on Cook out. I actually drove from Bufod especially for this burger.. Waste of gas.. You lost a customer. Like I said, my first in Gainesville was, juicy, loaded and delicious. My other 3 patronages were my wasted time, gas, and money for the hamburger.

I have eaten at the Alpharetta location many times and love the food. Yesterday, my family and I were in Gainesville and when I saw the Cookout, I had to stop there. With that being said.. that was literally the worse service I have had in any restaurant. To be fair, my cashier was very pleasant. I waited 27 minutes from the time that I ordered my food until I received it. When my number was called by a gentleman (and I use that term loosely) from the back, I stepped forward. I asked him for some buffalo sauce and he literally threw it across the counter at me. When I got to the table, we realized that my spouses food as well as two milk shakes were not included. So I had to go up there and, after waiting for a number of other people, got the opportunity to obtain food that I ordered over thirty minutes prior. The staff had my wifes food (prepared) just sitting in the back and the milkshakes in another location. Poor turn around, rude staff and unprofessional behavior. Three reasons I will never stop to eat at this location again.

My first ever Cookout experience as we do not have them where I live. You can get quite a meal here for $6. I ordered a Cajun chicken sandwich which was really juicy and a delight. What was interesting were the sides you could order. You get two sides with a combo meal. I chose fries and onion rings, but I could have gotten fried okra or a chicken quesadilla or any number of interesting things. The milkshakes were really good but so thick it took like half an hour before they could be started without a spoon. The milkshake selection along would be enough to get me to come back and try this place again. Oh, the decor was nice. Wooden tables with a nice finish, deer head hanging from the wall, pretty good bathrooms.

The people are so nice here , I had never been here before heck Im not even from this side of the country! But the girl on register was so sweet she helped us order because lets face it I had no idea how to order there, she was very outgoing and it wasnt awkward or hard to order she made it known to the kitchen that we were first timers and it was so nice ! the quality of the food was outstanding and furthermore it was quick to get ! I dont know how other locations of this restaurant are but this was by far one of the best experiences I had in a restaurant ! Everytime Im in town I will be stopping by this location!

I went here a couple weeks ago and ordered Togo. Inside the restaurant was only me and another gentleman. I stood and waited for 15 minutes for my food to be ready. I decided to give them another chance today and ordered a quesadilla tray with a Cajun chicken wrap and fried okra. The okra was fantastic as usual, the Cajun wrap tortilla was slightly burnt but bearable. I opened the quesadillas to find that the entire backside of both of the quesadillas was completely black. I will never eat at this cookout again. I would rather drive the extra 10 minutes to Gainesville.
