We used to go to this place once a week. We loved it and it was our "go to" Mexican restaurant. UNTIL...one day, my wife and I went in to eat and the place was almost empty.Wonderful, we thought, because the service will great! We were seated and a waitress that we had never seen before came over, slung a basket of chips on the table along with salsa and turned around and left. About five minutes later she returned and asked if we wanted something to drink and we said yes. She then asked what we wanted to order and my wife told her that we would like cheese dip first and then, after we had a chance to look at the menu and eat our dips and salsa, we would order. She did not like this at all! She did not like that we did not go ahead and place our order at that time! She brought the cheese dip and asked if we were ready to order, which we were. She had no personality and she acted like we were bothering her by just being there. We placed our order and finished our chips and dips. She came back 15 minutes later with only my dinner and not my wifes. She just walked of with no explanation so I asked her to come back. She stated that since my wife had "insisted" on having grilled chicken in her quesadilla instead of shredded chicken that it has "messed up her order!" We were getting very pissed off at this time for the nasty way she seemed to be treating my wife when my wife had done nothing wrong! I put my fork down and refused to eat until my wifes dinner also came to the table. Finally, after 15 minutes, she brought out my wifes food. By then I had gotten so mad that I had lost my appetite and I asked for two to go boxes. This lady, who is obviously Mexican and around 50 years old, was so crappy to my wife while being very nice to me and all of the others around us, for no reason, had really pissed me off! We love this restaurant and would love to go back but when we walked out that door I swore we would never go there again! The food is wonderful and the service is really usually great but that one lady has caused us to never return! Oh, and her tip?? Twenty-five (0.25) cents..just to let her know that I had not forgotten to leave a tip. And frankly, her service wasnt even worth that!

My family and I dined in on the 27th of November 2016 and I ordered a margarita which never showed up, our appetizer didnt come out until AFTER our entrees and the waitress acted really frustrated and commented on it being the kitchens fault instead of just apologizing or asking if we still wanted it. Then when we asked her about my margarita she pretended like she didnt forget to put in the order. Like the bar just never made it. Strike two. They werent very busy- this was 3/4pm but she acted like she was weeded the whole time so she most likely forgot we ordered or forgot to put it in. So I said forget it. Clearly she wasnt interested in making things right but more concerned that this would hurt her tip. She just kept asking if I was sure I didnt want it anymore. I wanted one with our app that never came and honestly the whole experience wasnt going well so we were ready to leave instead of spending more money there. I would have drank it if she brought it anyway and which she should have done as well as taken the app off the ticket but she didnt do any of that. Im sure she didnt tell the manager. It sucks because Ive been going here for years and used to love it. Unfortunately we have had more negative experiences than positive in recent months and I think its time to go down the street instead. Better service and better prices!

I am from Morelia Michoacan Mexico so I know Mexican Food. I went out with a group of all hispanic friends, we were truely in search of Mexican food. We came upon "El Molcajete" through Google Maps. This place is NOT MEXICAN. The only mexican thing is the name and the music. They dont even have awas frscas (exp. Horchata, Jamica, Mango, Tamarindo). The staff was polite, we were seeted and brought chips and sause, but the sause was not even seasoned to tast like hispanic chille. It was straight plain dull. Just looking at the menue we knew this so called Mexican place was not Mexican, but TexMex. We simply got up and left. If their menu was a little more appeling atleast you would be tricked into thinking it was Mexican food. If your looking for good authentic food the FONDITA AT THE CHEVRON IS COMIDA MEXICANA CASERA.

We were driving through on our way back from a road trip. The service was very good, she was good about gauging where we were at and would not interrupt or hover as well as be available when we did need her. The salsa was good, not too runny so it stuck well to the chips. The chips were also good. The regular small guacamole (non-supreme) had an extremely smooth texture but not a lot of flavor, had to add salt to it. We ordered the chicken fajitas and the enchiladas supreme. One of the enchiladas was shredded chicken which was delicious. The fajitas were good. Overall the food was above average and the place was a welcome break from our long road trip. The service was excellent. Would be back if we come this way again.

The service was good, the food was ok, the problem is with the billing. Even though I left the waitress a nice cash tip, and wrote zero on the receipt for tip, they went back later and added more to the bill! I have the receipt showing the correct amount billed, but now a few days later, my account shows they were given more than I agreed to. When you change the bill to take more money from me than I authorized, that is theft, plain and simple! The amount is not important, it is the principle of the matter, I will be looking into further action now. Visit at your own risk!

Mex Enough For Me. They have the usual hot-plate fare and of course sopa de molcajete (which is one of my favorites)... but read the menu a little more carefully and youll find some authentic gems like chorizo or beef tongue tacos served the way they would be in Mexico. Kick...Ass. There is a plentiful Latino population here, serving their own comfort food. Skip the mega corp chains around the mall and give your money to people who are serving you an honest plate, not a tex-mex marketing idea.

We had gone to enjoy a meal with family that arrived at differnt times, the restaurant only had two waiters serving which was a disaster. My sister and her husbands family had service delayed due to short staffed and when it was time to head out she got everyones order on wrong checks and when some left she wanted to charge what she should have charged to the others, got very rude and will definitely not go there again!!

I am not happy, service was all good until it started getting crowded. We asked for the check and when she came with it she also took our plate (that we werent done with.).. The Molcajete that is 16.99 was tasteless; the gas station has better flavor.. Even the mom and pop restruants taste better than that.. I do not recommend unless you are up to asking for seasoning in your steak or fajitas...
