I cannot fully describe the force with which the food at Tmaz brought me back to life. This place has it all. You walk in to an unassuming space with the kind of loved in mismatched furniture that tells you this place is gonna be good. Ordering your food can be somewhat of a wait, as its done in the same fast food style as other taquerias. Its well worth it though. All items are a la cart, because the owners are savvy af. I got the quesadilla with chorizo, two tacos de carne asada y fried pork. They come with standard embellishments (cilantro, lime, onion, and hot sauce) and any added fixings are $0.25 a pop. All their prepared sides looked amazing, but I substituted for a bag of the worlds most loved and then regretted chips: Takis Fuego. If this wasnt enough, I glanced over to their dessert display and was aghast to see not one, but two flavors of Tres Leches™ Cake, in vanilla and chocolate. Theyre definitely big enough pieces to share, but moist enough that you wont want to. Before I could even pay for my food I locked eyes with the row of Sidral Mundet apple pops, and of course got two. When I finally carried my tray of food from the counter to my high top seat and began taking selfies, I realized a row of piñatas hung behind me and decided to officially move into this place. This before I saw the familiar racked trays of pan dulce and other Mexican sweets lining the center of one of the seating rooms. Overall, I think this restaurant added 3 years to my expected life span so it goes without saying that I thought it was okay. Jplay, it changed my life. 10/10 would recommend

I was thoroughly let down by my experience here. Id been told this Taqueria was a gem of a hole-in-the-wall for quality, flavorful Mexican fare. Instead, I walked through what I thought was the front door into a dingy room with no one in it, when the majority of the actual restaurant was the next room over. Nothing about the entire restaurant or food preparation area seems very clean. The prices are outrageous for what you actually get (flavorless food), and you get nickel and dimed for all of the extras (understandable for something guac, but extra just for cheese or sour cream? come on...). The food: In a word, flavorless. Well, aside from the chorizo, which tasted heavily of vinegar and some unknown hot sauce (but didnt actually taste like chorizo at all). The tortillas (which each taco gets two?...) are relatively flavorless, and lightly grilled (only for temperature? there didnt seem to be much texture change). Their refried beans have cut up hotdogs in them, and are quite watery. The rice has peas and carrots in it, which sounds fantastic, but you cant really taste it. 3 (flavorless) tacos + rice/beans and a water... almost $15. I dont think Ill ever come back here. Spend your money elsewhere.

Called today for eight beans cheese pupusas which I live 20 minutes away when I got home I looked and there was porking beans ,cheese beans, and just cheese and just beans I was a little upset I called to let them know about the inconvenience and she said shes busy and she was new, I understand that but its very difficult to mess up beans cheese pupusas I never asked for any other items! I asked her how it was messed up then apparently she got confused from beans and cheese and no she fully spoke English she was American. there was no language barrier! they wanted me to come back up there and get a completely new order which is fine but Im already was home there was no manager to speak with and I talk to the cook and they said they apologize and said there was nothing they can do. Bad customer service and they need to train their employees she seemed very disoriented.

The flavor of the food was bland except the sauce which didnt make up for how less than luke warm it was. The rice was obviously not fresh, but the pinto beans had decent flavor. It took 15 minutes to order with 3 people in line and while the prep cook moved around opening packages and grabbing various items he never once changed his gloves or washed his hands. The place is filthy, including the food prep area and the tables. Theyre is no organization to the menu as prices are not apparent for common items like the enchiladas meal. Even the #Coke soda fountain machine is not setup with the correct mixtures so its very heavy with carbonated soda and weak syrup. Instead of a singer, I would of preferred more help with customer orders and making the food hot like its supposed to be served. Never again!

For $9, I got the 2 enchiladas meal with chicken (not chipotle), rice and beans. The enchilada sauce was spicy, with peppers all over and in the sauce. The chicken was in chopped cubes and fell out of the enchilada when I sliced it. The beans had hot dog pieces in them and were dry despite all the soup around them. The rice had no flavor at all, although the peas and finely diced carrots on top were not overcooked. I come from south Florida and perhaps that makes me spoiled, but I will not be having this meal there again.

FANTASTIC place to grab lunch, dinner, or take-out. Authentic flavors and dishes and the friendly staff make the experience enjoyable every time, and the food is quite affordable. There are so many places to try Mexican food in Ann Arbor, its tough to pick one. As far as quality of food, taste, cost, and the staff, I think this is the best one in Ann Arbor. The menu is not large, but there are many fillings to choose from, and the place has a hometown-feel to it. They even have avocado ice-cream bars!

My husband and I moved back to Michigan from Texas a few months ago, and Im beginning to think Michiganders dont know what good Mexican food is! This place was ok, but not somewhere Id go again. The meat was dry and boring (we tried asada, pollo and chorizo/potato) and in an authentic taco its all about the meat! Guacamole was good, but could be improved with fresh jalapeño vs. pickled. If these are "the best tacos in Ann Arbor" then there must be some limited options here!

These guys prepare some of the tastiest food Ive had in years. The flavors are out of this world on standard classics, I had the three enchiladas with the spicy Verde salsa and rice and black beans. The soup, which I had for lunch the next day, is also spectacular. I had to take it to go because I couldnt eat it all at once. Seriously recommend stopping here if you are passing through Ann Arbor. The people are friendly to boot!! 5 stars. Todd Bless!

I love this place! The service is fast and while its really cheap, the quality is outstanding. I can go get a meal for less than $6, thats 3 tacos! And they arent the tacos that most people had growing up at family dinners or from taco bell, the shells are warm corn tortillas that are really soft and the meat is things like al pastor, barbocoa, pork skin, and beef tongue. This is fast becoming my favorite place in Ann Arbor.

Lovely little place with great, inexpensive food. Had a Mexican food craving and this place definitely scratched the itch. A la carte tacos are under $2 a piece with plenty of selections and served with fresh onion and cilantro. The black bean and cheese tacos were delicious. Great price, great food. Ill be coming regularly. Oh, and there was a beautiful cockatoo playing outside as I was leaving as well, awesome!
