I went to this restaurant many times in last one year- overall decent experience. For the lunch buffet on the weekends, they have many different variations of food and flavor. But, my last experience for a menu dinner was horrible. There was only one person for taking the order. He kept me waiting for long time, even the place was not busy at 9:00. I went there from the middle of my study on a Saturday night. And I had a feeling that the well- dressed customers especially European descendant folks were getting much more attention and time by the staffs. For taking my order, the guy was in super hurry. He seemed annoyed and was rude when I asked one/ two question about the menu (eg: me: "does this come with a nan?" The guy in an annoyed tone: "where does it say it comes with a nan?"). I ordered for a Moghlai Chicken and I was never asked what spice level I wanted for my food. Finally the food I got was extremely spicy. So, I stopped eating in the middle, paid my bills and decided never to go there again. For you who are curious, I was born and spent the first 24 years of my life in Indian subcontinents. The restaurant does not deserve a severe critic for one of their staffs and one of the bad dishes on a random day. So, I am still giving them a three star for my previous better experience.

I have eaten at Indian restaurants in London and coast to coast in the US. I saw the reviews for this restaurant from purportedly /presumably neutral Indians, very high reviews, and thought it worth a try. I had what might be the best Indian dish I have ever had. Lamb, no less, and I dont like lamb. This time, however, in light of the reviews and the fact that our server appeared to be Indian (as did all the guests), I took a recommendation. The first, a goat dish, seemed a little too brave for me, but the lamb pepper masala was extraordinary. The naan, as ordinary and easily forgotten as it usually is, was also something special. No bar, and paper place mats, but I couldnt have cared less. Really special, and for this reason if no other I am pleased my kid has just started at the University so I can go back again.

hi my name is Ali, i went to this restaurant today with my friend im a kind of very particular when it comes to food...so whenever i go i will make sure to ask the halal status n if its halal i will make sure to see the certificate itself..i did the same in this restaurant i was asking a person worked there is this restaurant halal he said yes n i ask him where is the halal certificate..he reply me nothing...n he went...so from this i know this restaurant is not halal..they never stick any halal certificate..according to Us law if its halal he should display the certificate.Im very disappointed bcoz there is alot of muslim student use to eat over there by thinking its halal..so this is a cheat..if any action not be taken by the owner i will make a complaint against this restaurant.

Great food any time. I went there with my family for 4 times till now and everytime the food was great and with consistent flavor. The place is located in the prime of AA downtown. Getting parking on road side is an issue but there is a parking structure just beside that which charges 3$ for 2 hours of parking. That should be enough time to order and food and complete it with some dessert as well. The buffet always has lot of variety. Just a note that the Weekend buffet will have more selection than on weekdays. Eg: Special Chicken Biryani / Lamb Biryani is available only on weekends and the buffet price is also couple of dollars more on weekends . Try the food and im sure you will not be disappointed. Have some great food folks.!!

I was disappointed with the Lunch Buffet. People always have nice things to say and some of that doesnt seem to match my experience for the Lunch Buffet. The location of the buffet is in a tough and crowded corner of the restaurant and the line take some time to navigate. This is always an issue when you have only an hour for lunch and have to drive 15 mins each way. The other thing is that the Nan Bread is placed in a container and doesnt remain fresh for too long. Myself and another person had to have the Nan bread and it was hard. The other Buffet places bring it to your table and it tastes so much better. Other places also offer you a choice of regular or Garlic. Dont think I will be going back

First time having dosa, was an unforgettable experience. I ordered the mint dosa. Dont be fooled by its size! Since it is rolled out very thin, if youre hungry youll devour it all in no time. The food was absolutely scrumptious, and I will definitely visit again. However I gave four stars because I was disappointed with the interior of the restaurant. Doesnt seem like theyre making an effort to improve it rather than just maintain it for the existing customer base. They need to make it cleaner and brighter. Use real flowers rather than plastic ones piling on dust. The bathroom was in the back past these swinging doors, and apparently dont have heating so it was frigid inside!

Wtf did I just eat. The buffet food went right through my friend and I. Ive never experienced such vigorous bowel movements in the past. The food severely lacked flavour, all you could taste was a pungent combination of poorly blended spices. The amount of heat energy produced from my fecal matter after eating this crap was more than enough to power a steam generator to power all of Metro Detroit. In addition to all of this, this joint has a knack of attracting certain groups of people who have a hard time keeping their business to themselves. I did not feel welcomed at all, especially by the mysterious man who couldnt stop giving me creepy smile the whole time.

Wow! After spending the summer in Mumbai, Ive been searching for authentic Indian cuisine in Ann Arbor. Shalimar was good but way too Americanized for me, almost no flavor compared to what you get in India. Madras Masala hit the spot for me. The lunch buffet was to die for. Palak paneer, butter chicken, lamb vindaloo, mango mouse, naan, and the galab jamun were my favorites, but there was so much more to choose from, too. This place is definitly here for the long hall. It may look small on the outside but its huge inside- bigger than shalimar and taste of India.

Food is good, But the Manager/Owner ( I guess his name his Prabhu, one of the owners), ,Hes not fit for the business that he does, He dont even know how to talk to the customers and what to talk, He lost lot of customers due to his bad behaviour, I hear the same from lot of my friends, I stopped going to this rest just for this guy, Hes bad and I dont want to see him again, Im sorry for the other owner, hes a nice guy, he knows how to build a relationship.

This place has become so bad with their food quality and offerings that today I decided to call quits on this restaurant. There are severe hygiene issues. Open bags of onions lying around in the toilet area, a "special" buffet with stale dosas and rubber like naans, plates with dead bugs and a staff that constantly keeps topping your glass of water. Could be an embarrassment if you bring one of your guests for "special" South Indian food. Sayonara!
