This place certainly has great potential, its still a newcomer to the Ann Arbor restaurant scene. I love tapas and they definitely have authenticity going for them here. We came in right as they were opening, around 5pm on a cold Sunday and the dining room was not open yet so we ordered coffees adn cocktails at the bar. The glitz and glammer of the bar and dining room are definitely impressive. The waitstaff was super friendly and informative, if not a little nervous or anxious as well. Once we got our table and ordered it was pretty quick to get the food out of the kitchen. We ordered the octopus and the patatas bravas and both were delicious, not he best Ive ever had though. For uniqueness we ordered the suckling pig platter and I would definitely order that again. The pork itself was pretty good but I liked how they served it, sorting it by location of the pig and describing the differences between them. Then there are the sides which you get to chose three. I remember we got potatoes, spinach and brussel sprouts and all three were very delicious. And the real winner were the sauces that they brought out for the pig. These enhanced the pig quite a bit. The best of the meal though were the fresh churros with a trio of dipping sauces. These were perfectly hot, perfectly sweet and cinnamony, and the sauces were divine. I could have eaten all of them by myself easily. Ill return once they have a few more months under their belt.

I lived in Spain 10 years ago, eating and loving the tapas there. Since moving back to the States, I have periodically dreamed of how delicious the food was, but never had any occasion to eat Spanish food. I was curious when Aventura opened, thinking I could get my fix of that long-ago deliciousness, but wondering how on earth anything could live up to my expectations, which I had been building up in my mind for years and years. Tonight, I finally went in, and oh my goodness - it wasnt what I expected; It was better. Everything I wanted was there, but with finer ingredients, with a more elegant twist, and with a much friendlier wait staff than any I had had in Barcelona, Madrid, or Sevilla. The portions are small, which is perfect, because it allowed us to try wonderful course after wonderful course. Favorites: the croquetas de pollo, the goat cheese thing with pineapple, and the jamon iberico. Simply amazing. They also had a decent selection of Spanish wines, and the churros were exactly as I remembered. I will definitely be returning for more.

Even though I just ate, I decided to leave a review for this place since its long overdue. Since moving to Ann Arbor from California its been hard to come by a trendy place with great food and drinks but Aventura exceeded my expectations. The staff is friendly, they always walk you through the menu and can make recommendations based on your food preference so dont hesitate to ask. Ive been there more than 5 times last year and enjoyed it every time. I am a girl of habit so I always order patatas bravas -- they recently started making the portions smaller but its still really good! (You can ask for extra sauce in the side) They also run a happy hour during the week until 6pm so totally worth it. Their gin and tonics are the bomb so especially the grapefruit one. Also if you cants make it during the week come for bottomless mimosa brunch during the weekend. I hope after reading this Ive convinced you to at least give this place a shot, if you love it as much as I did please let me know that the review was helpful. :)

Do yourself a favor and put a piece of bacon on a date and you will have their best item in the comfort your own home. Two visits have been subpar. Second visit was for a birthday dinner. We had like 12 people or more. We had one server take everyones order. She didnt write anything down... I questioned her and she insisted to me that she remembered and does this all the time. I was kind of impressed until our food came out wrong. My friend ordered a coffee at the beginning of the night and constantly reminded the server but she NEVER brought it. Server eventually told us coffee machine was broken and they were trying to fix it. As I was leaving the building I mentioned this to a manager and he was puzzled, "our coffee machine is working". Its one thing to be overwhelmed but another to be so arrogant as to not write anything down and then lie over and over again. I hope I never come back. Restaurant is really large with a big basement. It looks nice inside. I wish they trained the staff better.

Idk why this crap ass has a nice review restaurant but one thing I can ensure you is that if you are from Spain, you will HATE it. This people has clearly not clue about Spanish cuisine, and probably has never ate real Spanish food, right away Im gonna tell you, that their paella is freaking pistachio green instead of the clear BRIGHT YELLOW that its supposed to be, but it doesnt end on the disgusting look but the flavor tasted dead, rice was simple and the sea ingredients were poorly washed, for a place as expensive as this, its rather pathetic. But does it end there ? Absolutely no. We can go from a poor excuse of a paella, to a flavor less meat that for no reason 5 small slices of medium rare flat iron took 40 min to make, by the time my companion finished eating I start it because " they dont hold back food." Overall this place is an insult to Spanish cuisine, food taste dead, and really the only way you can like this is because you simply dont know any better. Enjoy.

Aventura used to be my favorite brunch spot in Ann Arbor. I recently returned from working overseas for a year and made Aventura one of my first return stops and was unbelievably disappointed. I always loved the shrimp & polenta breakfast, but what I received was nothing compared to the delicious and spicy dish Id had in the past. Instead of stewed spicy veggies with shrimp plus two eggs over smooth & creamy polenta, I had just a bowl of dry heavy polenta, some tiny shrimp, one poached egg, and two pieces of cardboard masquerading as toast. No spicy sauce, veggies, or flavor to be found. Normally I wouldnt take the time to write a bad review (this is my first) but the fact that this now costs $3 more than it did last year for less food & flavor is appalling and I am angry I wasted my money. Not sure what changed in the past year to necessitate cutting costs on quality (as they were packed this morning), but Aventura has permanently lost a long time fan.

My partner and I landed here after a long day of travel from VT. The food, ambiance, and service was exactly what we needed. After ordering a carafe of white- we had the octopus tapas which was seriously amazing. Fresh, clean and meaty, very satisfying. Next, we were served the cauliflower with pine nuts and the patatas bravas- a dish very close to Rachels heart. Cauliflower was rich and light at the same time, filling and scrumptious! Rachel most remembered food from her time studying in Spain- the patatas bravas is something Ive even tried replicating at home for us. Aventura knocked it out of the park! Brought tears to her eyes and we gobbled down every last bite and dumped the last bits of cauliflower in the PB sauce to soak it all up. Lastly, we were served the bacon wrapped chorizo stuffed dates. Dank and delicious! Sweet and salty and so so good. If youre in Ann Arbor- get to Aventura. They know how to do it up right.
