ive only been here once and honestly i dont think its all that. its good for a quick meal but nothing to go out of your way for everything on the menu is expensive and for such a small place it shouldnt be your just paying typical winchester prices everything in thais town is high. food is ok the drinks i cant say but i heard beer is ok just not decent quality i wouldnt go here for a drink, bottom line its small and usually packed and theres not much on the menu so make sure its something you really want the variety sucks. good for pub food but as for drinks theres better spots i n woburn ( sadly) and in nearby medford /boston. i went once and i dont think i will again its too overpriced for slow service and food thats not that good.

Very kid-unfriendly. We went there a year or so ago with my 3 year old, and they werent very accommodating. Made us feel very unwelcome. We found the food average. We made the mistake of trying to go there again today with my almost 4 year old, and my 2 month old daughter. The hostess was rude to us -- told us we couldnt bring the stroller in, despite the fact that the place was half empty and there was a table in the corner where we could have easily pulled the stroller up to. We will never make the mistake of trying this place again. There are plenty of other restaurants. In fact, go to first house pub right up the street. It is much better and more pleasant!

The Black Horse Tavern has a good atmosphere and good food. However we dont go very often because they are always have a wait by 5:30 and with kids we really cant go late. The other reason is that I have a gluten allergy and they dont do anything to cater to it or any other allergy and I dont get the sense that anyone there is trained in dealing with food allergies. I only order a salad and am nervous at that.

overrated for what you get. My meal had to go back twice (steak tips - stay away) they did not charge but it definitely ruined the night for the family. It is one of only places in town so they have you. Will not be going back anytime soon for food, that is for sure. good luck and watch out for the steak tips, easiest thing on the menu to make. Meat was of a poor fatty quality definitely not premium food.

We go out of our way to go to the "BHT! Food is home made, fries are NOT frozen, feta on salads is French and very good. Honey Wings and artichoke aps are great. Salads are large and good! We love the Haddock, Steak and the Specials. The deserts are worth waiting for, and the bar is well stocked, original and beers are great!!! May be loud, but its a party!!! Love this place, great hang out too.

Ive come to this local watering hole of Winchester Center a few times now. Mostly to grab the excellent steak tips they have to go. They have always been cooked to order and have been seasoned well. Besides the stand out steak tips the restaurant is pretty average in terms of selection and food quality. Mostly unmemorable but convenient if you live close by.

Over priced for what you get food wise. As for the bar staff, you always feel like you are an inconvenience if you ask for a drink. Even sitting at the bar it can take several minutes the attract the attention of the bar staff to order. I have been here an many different occasions and always feel like the staff would prefer that you didnt bother them.

Ive never had a bad experience when i ate here. The food and drinks are a little pricey, but thats usually how it goes in Winchester, right? The burgers are a MUST to try and their Black Horse brewed beer is surprisingly good! If only they could expand a little to make more seating and a bigger bar, itd be perfect!

Perfect for Winchester. A place for people to meet and go. Drinks are great and generous. Salads terrific and hard to beat the Sachem burger with onion rings. Black Horse filled a great need for a casual place to eat. Cheers!

The food here is pretty good and theres a nice variety. Its usually very busy. They are not very good at estimating length of time for a take out order to be ready - it often takes twice as long as they say.
